Remember This?

Can you guess this old game from just one screenshot?

I’ll update this post with the answer at 5pm today if no one has guessed before then. Or if you do guess it before then, feel free to share your memories of a classic game.

Good luck!

Sanatorium! Never has madness been so puzzling!

    Planescape: Torment

A fantastic game that I unfortunately never got particularly far into. Still to this day pretty much the best written dialogue in a game ever.

    Planetscape Torment

    Planetscape: Torment.

Completely at a loss to this weeks theme though.

I'm going to just throw a title as I don't know.

    Sanitarium?

    Planescape: Torment

a.k.a. the best RPG ever made. EVER.

    Rollercoaster Tycoon?

      Well played.

I see what you did there...

    Planescape: Torment

I only know because it's the first screen, and that's how far I keep getting in it. Not through lack of enthusiasm, just keep getting distracted. Once I get my copy back from a mate, I'm gunna play it properly, dammit.

Theme, though. Critical hits that flopped in sales?

Hope you enlighten us with the answer before you leave, Goose.

I'm thinking the theme is Wildgoose's favourite (90's) games from studios that have since shut down.

aww mannn i forgot to add "90's" to the tirade of possible themes... grrr

    Theme

    Pc games from defunct studios

or just games from defunct studios

or Davids favorite pc games from defunct studios

    or Davids favorite pc games

    or under appreciated games

or games you should get off your ass and play

or i'm going to have to keep guessing... these are all the main conclusions i'm coming to, though

Yeah, you pretty much guessed it earlier in the week.

Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, The Last Express, Thief: The Dark Project, Outcast and Planescape: Torment were my five favourite PC games of the '90s. I figured they'd make a pretty good farewell week.

you mean tormenting me with a theme would be a good farewell? Thanks buddy :P hahaha

At least i can finally stop guessing!! :D

The zany thing is I snuck a quick 10 mins during work today to reinstall Torment on my computer.

For those who feel like jumping back into the scarred body of The Nameless One this guide is a good place to start and points you in the direction of all the essential mods to get it running nicely on today's systems - http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2009/01/planescape-torment-fully-modded.html

I'm actually still yet to play it.. but i am hoping to pick up a copy somewhere soon :)

for anyone that might be interested in buying the game : )

THANK-YOU!! I went to re-install this recently but was dismayed to discover the first disc had fallen into a black hole somewhere. Was not aware there was somewhere I could buy it.

Planescape: Torment is one of my favourite ever games, I lived and breathed that world for such a long time that it will forever be a part of me.

                You're most welcome Strange :)

Are you saying Jazz Jackrabbit wasn't in your top-five-90s-PC-games?

        For shame.

        Hi David,
Loving this weeks theme, been having troubles guessing a lot of them.

Will be sad to see you go from now my favourite gaming site!

    Rayman Raving Rabbids

    One of the better rpgs
and a game that you got more out of from not killing everything

    Chris Avellone is the man.

Probably the greatest RPG I've played, at least on a Par with Fallout 2...

    Loved Torment.
