Super Mario Bros. Gets 25th Anniversary Logo

This year is the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. Time for a special logo. Kyoto-based Nintendo has filed a trademark for the pictured anniversary logo. This is it.

The logo could be used in the Super Mario All-Stars reissue or any other merchandise Nintendo is planning for this year.

For the game's 20th anniversary, Nintendo created a logo to mark the occasion. The company also released a special "Famicom edition" of the Game Boy Micro with the logo branded on the back.

While nothing has been confirmed, we can see Nintendo doing something similar for the Nintendo DS.

Super Mario Bros. was released in Japan on September 13, 1985 and on October 18, 1985 in North America.

Interesting that - I always remember the copyright notice on the title screen being 1984 (the year of my birth).

Anyone else think the whole logo should look 8bit? The reef is the only think that looks out of place... even by wii standards it is a little too sharp.
