Namco Bandai Pulls Mr Driller Chilean Miner Image, Apologises

To mark the release of the 33 Chilean miners, Namco Bandai created the above image, which features the character Mr Driller. Today, the company has removed the image and apologised.

Namco Bandai today tweeted that the image lacked consideration. Because of that, the company has taken it down. "We would like to offer a profound apology to everyone," the company added. "It was inexcusable."

The image might have been laced with dark humour and somewhat obvious, but really? Inexcusable? Really?

    I thought it thoughtful. An image of celebration, not any sort of exploitation of the event.


    I smell an ultra-politically correct idiot with too much time on his hands who wrote an angry letter filled with the terms that sent corporate PR representatives running around in circles in irrational panic such as "boycott", "telling all my friends and family" and "never again."
