The Jungle: The Official Info On Panasonic's New Online Handheld

Panasonic's new portable online games machine, The Jungle, is out of the bag and now 100% official. What's the company line on the handheld designed exclusively for online gaming and MMORPGs?

The Jungle's official web site calls it a "new mobile device concept designed specifically for online gamers," a "mean little machine features a kick arse display, touch pad, keyboard, and other gaming controls," they claim.

What's it for? Well, The Jungle will someday be able to play a mix of "content" and "experiences." In real world speak, that at least means The Jungle will be compatible with the browser based MMO from SyFy and BigPoint, Battlestar Galactica Online. The new platform's web site makes a couple references to free-to-play browser game RuneScape as well, so don't be surprised if Jagex's fantasy MMORPG announced at some point.

The Jungle's creators say they're "working with leading online game developers to create some exciting new content."

They're also working with video game web site on a "hilarious" new show call Online Underground, which looks to feature the platform's cartoon mascots delivering "news and information in the world of online gaming."

I thought 'The Jungle' might be what junglist calls his dad.

I always imagined him as being Junglist's dad:

Excellent tune. Anyone know what it is?

Something tells me this thing is gonna bomb...

Maybe it's the fact that it looks like a flip-top N-gage....

When is this game system coming out.

am i the only one that already thinks this thing will tank hard?

      Yeah dude, +1 to that.
The competition being 3DS and PSP also with iphone and android platforms opening up.
      Game over man, Game over...

Linux? MMO portable? I think there will be those users hacking and tweaking to get WoW to run and post it on youtube.... but for the others it just seems like it's going to run in-browser games which is pretty pathetic.

I'm not going to get my hopes up, but in the rare chance that it will work with real games, it will be bad ass.

    I must have one!!!
