We Have Kinect, Home Testing Begins

I possess a box. In that box was an Xbox 360 Kinect and games. Courtesy of Microsoft, Kotaku is a gaming news outlet that can now be the controller. We have Kinect. One is hooked up to my TV.

The Xbox 360 Kinect launches on November 4. As an agreement for getting the device early, we're able to run reviews of Kinect's launch games - Dance Central, Kinectimals, Your Shape Fitness Evolved, Joy Ride, etc - on November 4.

You see my cat here with the Kinect box. Is that a sign of enthusiasm on her face? With her, it's always tough to tell. She'll help me play these games and do all the other things Kinect is supposed to revolutionise.

Brush up on your Kinect knowledge, about what this thing is supposed to do and how Microsoft wants it to change the way we play games and use our TVs, in our big Kotaku explains Kinect story.

Check back here on November 4 to see how Microsoft's promises square with our experiences.

Is this a secret caption competition?

"I iz in ur Kinect, being ur controllerz"

As much as I'm not totally sold on Kinect yet, that bottom picture is a pretty sweet package to get in the mail.

Good for people that don't really like games but why would they have/get 360s?

Kinect = FAIL. Every demo I see seems to fail in some respect and after 5min usually the demonstrator can barely stand up... its a $200 exercise program. Nah, im good. I wanna be able to play a "game" (emphasis on that word) for longer than 10min without needing a glass of water and a shower.

I guess that also rules out the Japanese "erotic" games, then? :P

then uh.. stop being disgustingly unfit?

      Get thyself to Gamespot.

They posted an hour long demonstration the other day.
It looked responsive to me, and even fitness evolved looked entertaining.

$200 for a fitness program isnt too bad.

the wii fit was $150 and you cant do anything else on it but fitness games.

it is "possible" the kinect will be more.
if dance central is as good as it looks and doesnt merely fake everything then it could be lots of fun.

its also more likely that some good inventive hardcore games will be made for it through xbla than were on the wii.

I do think its too early to dismiss it but that said i still wont be getting one on launch.

    Pussy -not impressed by Kinect.

As much as I don't want Kinect, I do want dance central.
    Very much so
    Because Harmonix.
