This Week In Games

It feels a bit like we’re in the eye of some pre-Christmas release storm. While it’s the first week of November, and you’d expect some sort of massive hurricane to sweep us up into a maelstrom of hyped up AAA titles, it’s actually a little quiet on the games front at the moment.

The big ‘uns are undisputedly the James Bond pair – Goldeneye 007 Classic Edition and Blood Stone – but asides from those two it’s slim pickings. Except for Ghost of Sparta, which will worth dusting off your PSP for.

Battle Chess (PSP/Wii/DS)
What is it? A version of Chess where the pieces battle each other. Like that scene in Star Wars with Chewbacca. Except with Chess.
Should you care? Depends if you like Chess.

Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2
What is it? Another Dragon Ball punch-a-thon.
Should you care? We much prefer Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. Datte-bayo.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PSP)
What is it? Shrink-wrapped version of the slasher that redefines epic.
Should you care? It’s hard to think of a PSP game you should care more about.

Football Manager 2011 (PC)
What is it? The most comprehensive sports management sim on the market
Should you care? Football fans will love it, that goes without saying, but this truly is a great series.

Goldeneye 007 (Wii)
What is it? The update that preserves your sweet, rose tinted memories from the beating they’ll get if you ever think about returning to the original.
Should you care? We’ll be there day one. Will you?

Blood Stone 007 (360/PS3/PC)
What is it? New Bond game from Bizarre Creations.
Should you care? We don’t really know yet! Not had much time with this one. We’d hold out for a bit.

Monopoly (DS)
What is it? It’s Monopoly.
Should you care? Do you have the board game? Then no.

Monopoly Streets (PS3/Wii)
What is it? As above.
Should you care? As above.

Singstar Dance (PS3)
What is it? Karaoke phenomenon being milked into oblivion.
Should you care? Rock Band 3 is out.

Singstar Guitar (PS3)
What is it? Less poppy version of Singstar
Should you care? Again, Rock Band 3 is out.

Truth or Lies (360/PS3/PC)
What is it? A Buzz-esque kinda board game style thingy
Should you care? Nah.
