Kotaku's Top 5 List Of Top 10 Lists

Each week throws off several new video game lists ranging from the humorous to the trivial. What's better? A list of those. Here's a roundup of the rundowns out there.

The 11 Most Racist Video Games [UGO]No, Resident Evil 5 is not on this list. But yes, Scribblenauts is ... and what would be a Top 10 list without Custer's Revenge? Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is a surprising entrant as well.

25 Dudes Who Look Like Super Mario [Manofest]Basically it's "famous swarthy guys with pornstar mustaches." What about former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy? Or is he just a dude who looks like Ron Jeremy who looks like Super Mario.

5 Racing Games Better Than GT5 [The Kartel]This is really "three other games, a non-game, and Forza 3, for purposes of starting a Forza-GT flame war." Mission accomplished.

Top 8 Rebound Relationships In Video Game History [Ranker]After losing the NFL to EA, how about "2K Sports and Major League Baseball."

The 11 Weirdest Video Game Endings [UGO]Metal Gear Solid 2 is No. 1. Ghostbusters is a solid No. 7. Spoiler alert, I suppose, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is on the list, if you haven't played it.

You might want to put NSFW on the Dudes Who Look Like Mario, not for the content but for the banners on that site. :D (hey not that I mind ;)

"What about *former* NBA coach Stan Van Gundy"

mm? Isn't he still with the Magic?

The 'racist video games' list was pretty rubbish. There was only one actually racist game on there. And it's hardly a real game. I mean, is any normal person really going to play a game made by a group called 'The Aryan Brotherhood'? It's not exactly going to be available at JB Hi Fi, is it?

The rest are, at worst, over-the-top stereotyping. Surely opinions are divided as to whether stereotyping is actually racist - isn't the intent of the characterisation important? In my view, it's only racist if the creator did it with hatred in mind. If they did it for a laugh, then it's completely different. Insensitive, maybe. In poor taste, perhaps. But racist? Surely not.

And putting Scribblenauts on there just reflects ignorance on the list writer's part.

These sites are creatively bankrupt pieces of garbage. How many: Phalanx, Custer's Revenge, Mega Man entries have there been on these ridiculous lists? Yes, Custer's Revenge is offensive, racist and sexist. But it's also completely irrelevant, and no-one actually plays it.

It's almost like comedians never evolved and just refreshed their Three Stooges slapstick material, hoping for some cheap laughs and website hits. For shame. Kotaku should stop posting these links on their site, because no matter if you disagree or riducule these sites, if they get a hit, they win. Stop encouraging it.
