The Next Big Star Wars Game Is Still Far, Far Away

The Old Republic, a new massively multiplayer game set in the Star Wars universe, won't be out this year, obviously. But what about early next year?

Nope, it won't be out then, either, with publisher Electronic Arts' CFO Eric Brown, saying it won't be out until at least EA's 2012 fiscal year.

Now, the 2012 fiscal year isn't the same as the 2012 calendar year. It begins in April 2011, not January 2012. So Star wars fans eager for an MMO that doesn't suck, don't freak out, it doesn't mean the game is another two years away.

What it means is that a release in the first half of next year seems likely but isn't certain.

If Lucas Arts could stop shoveling Clone Wars as the next big thing down our throats it would be appreciated.

I'd like to see them get back to what made them great, Day of the Tentacle, X-wing/TIE series, and a return to Jedi Knight would be good.

X-wing v's Tie fighter, wants a new version of this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad

Isn't the bill for this game like, half a billion dollars by now or something? All I ever wanted was KOTOR 3 :(

+1 - no idea why they're making an MMO except for a cash cow.

That's all I'm waiting for as well Mr. Waffle. Where the hell did it go?

I'd also gladly trade TFU for battlefront 3
