APB’s Getting The Beta-Testing Band Back Together

Beta-testing invitations for APB: Reloaded, the free-to-play reboot of the cops-and-robbers MMO, have gone out, apparently to beta testers of the original ill-fated MMO. Beta players will return to San Paro, with their old characters intact.

Closed beta invites were sent to us by three different readers. “If you don’t sign up, you won’t have the chance to be one of the first to take back the mean streets of San Paro,” it said. “When you sign up, we’ll make sure you receive the latest APB news, including information about restoring your old character.”

APB’s original developer, RealTime Worlds, went bust in late summer and the whole thing shut down in September, three months after launch, after years in development. GamersFirst purchased the remnants of the game and, in November, announced plans to bring the game back as a free-to-play MMO with premium content to follow.
