As we’ve explored previously, video games – especially the classics – deserve better box art than they’re getting. Wonder what we want instead? This is the kind of stuff we want.
These retro-inspired pieces by Lechaftois Boris are another take on 2010’s “video games as old books” thing, but in this case there’s no books to be used as a crutch. These are just lovely, minimalist designs, ones that we’d love to see adorning the matte-finished, digi-pack boxes of all these games when they’re inevitably re-mastered and re-released.
You can check all these out over on the artist’s society6 site, with some of them even available as prints for purchase.
Those look absolutely amazing.
Simple, yet awesome. No fancy graphics, no intrusive logos, no “in your face” cover art.
Just simple, box art. Amazing.
