Fresh New Screens Of Ocarina Of Time’s 3DS Remake

Famitsu served up five new screens showcasing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s heavily anticipated remake on the Nintendo 3DS. The game, part of a nine-title Nintendo lineup coming this year, is expected before June.

There’s tons more good stuff coming today from yesterday’s Nintendo World event showcasing the new device. Look for more screens, gameplay video, and yes that sweet, sweet jazz ensemble playing your favourite video game music.

Recapping the first day of Nintendo World, here were the news highlights:

The launch titles, in Japan: On Feb. 26, the device and these eight games will release in Japan. Nintendogs & Cats (three versions); Winning Eleven Soccer 3D; Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition; Samurai Warriors: Chronicle; Puzzle Bobble 3D; Ridge Racer 3D; Battle of the Giants: Dinosaurs 3D;Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle. Prices seem to range in the area of PSP games (for more expensive titles) and regular DS titles (less expensive ones.)

These will be joined by Nintendo’s official first-party catalog: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Steel Diver and Pilotwings Resort in (northern) spring 2011; Kid Icarus: Uprising and Star Fox 64 3D in (northern) summer 2011; and Paper Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3DS and Animal Crossing 3DS to be announced.

The battery life: Nintendo’s specs say the device will get 3 to 5 hours of battery life playing a 3DS game – if you have the screen’s backlighting turned down. How much you get out of the device with the screen backlighting turned up or maxed, Nintendo didn’t say.

• Stage show demonstrations showed off Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, Kid Icarus Uprising, and the device’s new Mii and alternate-reality game features.

A look at the 3DS’ sleek packaging.
