Kirby's Epic Yarn FINALLY Gets An Australian Release Date

Nintendo Australia has improved dramatically as of late when it comes to getting hardware and software out in a relatively timely fashion, but the only blot on 2010's copybook was the delayed release of Kirby's Epic Yarn, which has just this second received its Aussie release date.

Kirby's Epic Yarn will hit Aussie stores February 24 retailing at $99.95AU.

Post the maddeningly difficult Donkey Kong Country Returns, we're actually quite looking forward to the gentle platforming meanderings of Kirby's Epic Yarn. But is it too little too late? Most core Nintendo fans may have already imported the game, and others may have lost interest with the delay.

Anyone here still planning to pick up the game?

I downloaded it a long time ago.

    Great game.

well im glad you enjoyed not buying it like an honest man

Yeah, at least import it second hand like the rest of us!

Anything free can be "good". Buy it, play it and then tell me so its an honest opinion on money worth.

    Cool. I'll pick that up.

Was there any reason given Mark? Distributor problems etc?

I find it all to common that Australia gets delays and no reason is given. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is an example.

And that first Saw game was pushed back for something like 3 weeks in Australia. Nobody ever ever explained why.

It's Nintendo, there wasn't any problems. They just wanted it released now.

      Game publishers:

HEY AUSTRALIANS YOU GET OUR GAME FOR ALMOST HALF A YEAR AFTER THE REST OF THE WORLD. WHY? GIVE US ONE HUNDY DOLLARS THAT'S WHY! OH I'M SORRY DON'T BE UPSET. PERHAPS PLAYING YOUR COPY OF ROCK BAND 2 WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER AUSTRALIA? OOPS. MY BAD. WOOO!

      Australia:

      FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Would buy it for $50 but not $100 so I'll probably wait until it comes down in price. Got plenty of others games to play anyway.

Being a first party Nintendo game, don't hold your breath for a price drop. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, New Super Mario Bros. and both Super Mario Galaxy games still carry rrp's of $99.95. You would be better off just grabbing it at launch from a place like JB Hi-Fi who will sell it at close to cost for the initial promo period.

I bought it online from Ozgameshop for $50. I'll stop importing when they stop overcharging!

It's a nintendo first party game. It won't drop in price they never do.

$99.95? After a four month delay? Wow.

Import time. And I feel this will become common place in a week when the Australian release date and price is announced for the 3DS.

All too true, it's looking like another case of "Take that, filthy southern ex-convicts". Its bad enough having a delay or a massively inflated price, but both?

Yeah I want but not at $99.. Think i'll import.

    $100???
yowza... i'll just import it, me thinks.
I was really looking forward to this coming out, but i was hoping for a lower price than that.

Certainly not at $99... might wait to find a really cheap 2nd hand version...

    Screw you Nintendo!

I would buy it if it was a lot cheaper, but $100 for a game like that just isn't worth it and I couldn't justify spending that much on it. Once you've won it there's not much else to do with it.

Hopefully this will be the last of Nintendo's delays. I don't understand why every other console can have their games out around the same time worldwide while Nintendo can't?

I was really hyped for this last year... Now though, I don't really mind if I don't get it. I'd rather spend my money on something else :/

I'll wait for a cheaper price as punishment for the delay. I'll sure show them!

I'll still just import it out of spite for Nintendo Australia.

    HAHA smooooooooooooth Nintendo.

$100 for a 4 month delay when you can get a legit PAL version for $50 from Ozgameshop.

I won't be getting it anyway. HAL Labs are already working on a NEW Kirby with traditional style. Which I prefer even though the yarn thing does look kind of interesting.

Sorry about the blurry quality. I couldn't find one that wasn't oddly enough.

I'd guess that since Nintendo already had Donkey Kong and Mickey headlining as Christmas platform games, they thought they'd fill the early-year void with this one. Actually makes quite a bit of sense, annoying as it was.

That's a bit expensive dont you think?

Ugh, far too expensive, especially considering it's meant to be easy and should be a breeze. I may consider importing it, but AFTER I finish importing all the games (like Jam with the band and picross 3D) that nintendo couldn't even be bothered releasing here.

    $100 !!?? NO!

How on earth does Nintendo think thats a good pricepoint for their games? I've been seeing great PS3 & 360 games for $50 and less at retail for a while now.

ALL of us on here who want it are importing -because its cheaper and theres not several months of delay. And its certainly not the firts time.

It definately will be a huge deciding factor in which home & portable sytem I chose next. I simply dont have the time or money to buy all of them anymore. BTW I'm 32.

Nintendo really needs to read these comments.

We really want this game (kiddo is a real kirby fan) but $100 is far too much - particularly in feb. Its not like its christmas or birthday time. I'm not surprised at the price as all new nintendo games seem to be that price, but still, dissapointed. So unless JB/EB/kmart or somewhere have it cheaper at release, I'll probably buy it preowned later or try ebay/importing it.

100 is a bit steep, I'm afraid. Even 70 is a bit much, but it's in the "maybe buy it" range. Nintendo has been replaced by Steam in my household. Sorry, Ninty, call me when you want to play ball again.
