Why is Bishop Paul Ojeda preaching in front of a giant Wii Remote and some of those tall mushrooms from Super Mario Brothers?
It was part of the Austin Power Church’s Wii Love Jesus event which involved a guy running around dressed as Mario, kids doing trust falls and lots of fake Wii Remotes. They didn’t have this when I was a kid. The priest in my church would give his sermons standing in front of some stained glass of the Virgin Mary or Jesus, or maybe in front of a cross. If only they’d been reading the gospel in front of the background of Super Mario World 1-2.
Austin Power House Church’s website indicates that this is “not your average church”. Nope.
