What Are You Playing This Weekend?

If you’ve been taking notice of the Talk Amongst Yourselves post, you’ll know that I’ve started longboarding, and fully intend to die a glorious death while riding one. That’s what I’ll be spending my weekend doing – in amongst playing LittleBigPlanet 2 – but what are you guys up to? And what games are you planning to play?

We’re starting to see some new games hit – there’s DC Universe Online and the afore-mentioned LittleBigPlanet, along with Ghost Trick on the DS, but it still seems to be all about the backlog. Maybe if I have time I’ll finally get around to finishing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

But enough prattling by me – let me know what you guys are playing this weekend…

Minecraft i assume. I am struggling to decide what console game to play next. i have a pile of shame, just can’t make a call and get stuck in!.

For me, I think it shall be GH and RB! I need to brush up on my skillz for the showdown with Strange when she gets back to Aus!
Of course I wont be able to pull myself away from M&M either. With the changes they made in the last update, it’s sexier and more addictive than ever!!

Speaking of which, those who are playing, can you post and let me know if you are still gonna play? We seem to have a few stragglers in the clan, and I wanna know if those peeps are still keen to play, or whether we should look for new recruits to replace them.

Also, Mr Serrels… did you get my email last night about dead space 2?

I got Resonance of Fate last week and i’ll be playing a bit more of that. It’s got a great battle system. But just about everything else about the game is horrible.

    I actually like the way that ROF did the experience system. It forces you to mix it up with weapons to get the levels faster. The problem with this game is that the developers put all their effort into the complexity of the battle system then just rushed the rest of the game out the door.
    
    I’m feeling like I have to put up with the terrible story/characters/world/visuals to play the awesome battles.

        Well, if you stick to one weapon then the exp required to level up that weapon will be insane, you may have to grind for hours to get a single level up. But, if you switch between grenades, MG’s and HG’s then the level ups will come a lot quicker.
        
        I have a little trick to get levels super quickly in the later chapters. Connect all the terminals on the 4th and 5th level that you can with the light blue energy hex’s (the one with 4 blocks lined up) the terminals you really want are the 1.5 exp and double terminal effect ones (this should give you 3x experience). Connect the effect going into Lucia and do a few fights only in the day time. Roam around Lucia and fight this hooded gangster guy (he’s level 37) he has over 4000 health. With your hero jump you can fully scratch him easily. Then just get your other character to do whatever. You can get levels in single fights.

Hmmm good question, I’ve got a 2 birthday parties in a row tomorrow and who knows what on the sunday, so I highly doubt I’ll be able to squeeze some quality gaming time (been doing research for a software development project I’m working on), but if I could fit some gaming in this weekend, it’ll probably be LBP2 or Gundam Musou 3 (Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3)

  Just picked up Ghost Trick, while shopping for a case for my 32gb iPod Touch, so I might give that a go, provided that I can procure the DS that’s sitting in my brother’s room (shouldn’t be too hard….hopefully)

Picked up LBP2 yesterday and only got about an hour with it last night, so I’ll be playing a bit of that for sure. Plus NBA Jam just arrived in the post today, so I’ll need to find time for that, too.

I’ll be looking for a good deal for a used PSP (thanks for the game Mark!). Setting up a nice wheelchair ramp for grump-dad (considering the quarter-pipe options). Check out the minecraft changes since I last played it and sink my teeth into RDR again. And If I get time, set up the A1200 to play Cannon Fodder.

After 11 years of rocking a 68cm curved screen CRT, I’m finally upgrading to 1080p tomorrow so I think I might just play everything in my library. I think it will be on par with having cataracts removed.

Got LBP2 yesterday and when I got home my wireless was humped. Spent all night trying to get the damned thing going again. Got on the PSN at about 10:30. Very sluggish and it kept crapping out. Might be new modem/router time… Anyway, never got to play any LBP2…

Have LittleBigPlanet 2, but the GF is out of town and not back til late Sunday, so that will be shelved until then…

So I’ll be hitting up Killzone 2 over the weekend… I also urge everyone to do the same and play a few games over the weekend and remember how awesome the game is and get pumped for Killzone 3 which is out soon…

Just remember that it’s great to dust off the old favourites from time to time. 🙂

be very careful with the longboard on Sydney beaches. no jokes. ive surfed Australia wide for 15 years and Sydney beaches are bad for localism. And the general rule is anyone riding the 6.3 thrusters hates everyone on a longboard. And the locals just hate everyone except the three guys who have been sitting out the back of the break seven days a week for the past 25 years. (just like the kotaku community!)

You might not know this already. And you need to know this. And when paddling onto a wave always give way to the rider [generally] closest to the peak. otherwise you will be “dropping in” and this can end badly if you do it to the wrong person.
these are all very important – especially if you are surfing alone.

Thats the bad news. The good news is surfing is the best feeling in the world and you may never want to play another video game again! stay pretty close to shore and nothing bad will happen + you will find true happiness with every wave.
im hopefully going to find a few waves on the weekend too.

Or I’ll be playing littlebig planet if the missus finds out that I bought it 😛 trying to hide it so i can play DC universe 😛

With Dead Space 2 on the horizon I figure now might be a good time to play through the first one that I picked up in a steam sale ages ago. Wish me luck, I’m always a wuss when it comes to games like this.

I am dangerously close to finishing the career mode of NFS: Hot Pursuit on PS3, apart from some Golds on the Time Trials and Rapid Response events.

I am in dire need of FRIENDS to play against and grab achievements so add me Rangerium if you want/need a new friend on PSN and want to play NFS: Hot Pursuit or even Blur which needs friends for certain achievements.

I’m also roughly 30 hours into Fallout: New Vegas on PC and haven’t even entered The Strip yet… but I’m guessing that will happen tonight, I am quite close to having to go there for certain quests now.

I’ve gotta work all weekend, so gaming time will be fairly limited. I bought a tonne of games during the Steam annual sale, so I’m slowly attacking them a couple at a time. First up is Mass Effect 2. I’m about 18hrs in and loving it. I’m already thinking of going back and playing the first one again.

Next up will be Dragon Age Origins. Unfortunately, the Ultimate Edition is about 24gb to download on Steam and I’ve only got about 1/3 of it so far 🙁
