Your Computer Must Be This Powerful To Run Shogun: Total War 2

Shogun: Total War 2 has been dropping jaws with its gorgeous visuals since it was revealed at E3 last year. Surely such lush graphics come at a steep price? Let's see what the official PC specs say.

It doesn't take that beefy of a PC to simply play Shogun: Total War 2. The biggest hassle for most PC players will be freeing up 20GB of hard disk space.

Minimum Specs (Required for playing Total War: Shogun 2):

- 2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor, or AMD equivalent (with SSE2) - 1GB RAM (XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows7) - 256 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card (shader model 3) - 1024x768 minimum screen resolution - 20GB free hard disk space

Of course just playing it won't get you the thousands of highly detailed soldiers, rain running down their intricate armour as they clash, the flames from burning homes flickering in their eyes. No, for that sort of thing you're going to need a bit more power.

Recommended Specs (Recommended for optimum game play of Total War: Shogun 2):

- 2nd Generation Intel® Core™i5 processor (or greater), or AMD equivalent - 2GB RAM (XP), 4GB RAM (Vista / Windows7) - AMD Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series graphics cards or equivalent DirectX 11 compatible graphics card - 1280x1024 minimum screen resolution - 20GB free hard disk space

My system just barely makes it under the recommended specs wire. How does yours stack up?

guess its about time for an upgrade for me then

My Laptop will run this, no problem. Looking forward to it! :)

Mine too, but I was playing Empire a while ago and on a resolution that was the correct aspect ratio and not blocky, everything was just slightly too small for me :( I have pretty bad eyes though so a low tolerance for small text especially in a game.

I'd need to plug into a real monitor to play it I guess.

Surprised it still only requires 2GB of RAM.

They give 2 radeons as GPU examples and no geforces? Oh well a GTX480 beats the hell out of almost everything else on the market so I suspect I'll be okay.

Hopefully it'll turn out to be smaller than Empire did, I think the map got a bit too big for its own good

The 20GB free hard disk space is a bit anoying for me. I traded space for power with my gaming PC, Ive got 50GB to play around with so i might have to move stuff off when I want to play it. A bit worrying for the steamers who want to download it too I suspect.

Oh and for those who care I do know i could simply buy a bigger hard drive and chuck it in but I spend all my money on games and I'm too lazy to do it.

    :L

I easy clear the minimum, but my CPU is still pretty old, and thus doesn't pass the recommended :(

This is the first game I've seen come in at 20gb without expansions or DLCs. Wow.

first game in 5 years where I didn't meat the recommended specs :(

    Not by Much though!.

I'm just hoping they don't have the cursed fleet/army bug anymore that causes said units to casue a CTD when ever you try to interact with them.

This bug has broken the campain for me so many times on both Empire and Napoleon.

    Flaming hell.
My First Gen Phenom x4 will struggle.
And 5th series ATI card holy cow, my 4870 is suddenly looking ancient.

Haha I could run it easily... and only a rich idiot would run this game on a laptop, like you would upgrade your laptop that much lololz!

My housemate was given a laptop for work that meets those recommended specs. They're not that expensive anymore, I actually think my boss at work bought one that could run it easily for less than 1k recently... and that's how much I'm planning on spending to upgrade my comp to play this g

        Yeah, i've recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15R - I5 processor, HD5650, 4gb ram, 500GB hdd, for around $1k. AUD

(Cheaper in HK though given the exchange rates. Got it for ~$800 AUD in HK)

will it run on a DELL INSPIRON WITH A INTEL CELERON
