The Games You Can Absolutely Buy The Day The 3DS Goes On Sale

Nintendo’s nebulous 3DS launch window includes months for the game company to fill their slate for the new portable. But what will gamers be able to pick up the day the 3D handheld goes on sale?

This morning Nintendo finally dropped a list on us that includes all 15 games available on March 27. It’s not as casual as I had feared, nor as harcore as I suspect some of you had hoped.

We already knew games like Kid Icarus and Zelda weren’t going to make the cut, but it’s good to see a couple of strong third-party games in the list.

Nintendo’s offerings on day one, each selling for $US39.99, will be Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver and nintendogs +Cats. The company says that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3d, Kid Icarus: Uprising and a new Mario Kart are all in the works for sometime this year.

Third-party publishers will have a dozen more games for sale on March 27.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition from CAPCOM

The Sims 3 from EA

Madden NFL Football from EA SPORTS

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D from Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars™ from LucasArts™

RIDGE RACER 3D from NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc.

Super Monkey Ball 3D from SEGA

BUST-A-MOVE UNIVERSE from Square-Enix, Inc.

SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles from TECMO KOEI AMERICA Corp.

Asphalt 3D from UBISOFT

Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D from UBISOFT

Rayman 3D from UBISOFT

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Shadow Wars from UBISOFT

It looks like we get two more games than Europe’s launch day and seven more than Japan. Of course we get the system later too.

Is there anything up there that makes you want to get in line to buy the system on March 27? Steel Diver and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition have me interested. I’d also love to see how a shooter is going to handle on the 3DS.
