The New Mortal Kombat Spawns A New Electronic Album

If you have fond memories of Mortal Kombat music by Belgian techno specialists The Immortals, the people behind the new Mortal Kombat have something just for you: an all-new album of thumping electronic music inspired by the gory fighting game reboot.

Coming this April, right before the release of Mortal Kombat on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors. That album is being executive produced by Jesse F. Keeler of MSTRKRFT and Death From Above 1979 fame, featuring the likes of Congorock, Tokimonsta and Harvard Bass’ “Helado (Sub-Zero’s Theme)”.

You may have heard hints of these jams in recently released character videos, but here are unmolested samples of three of the album’s songs. Sure, “Helado” is no “Sub-Zero Chinese Ninja Warrior”, but it’s growing on me.
