It’s an interesting point. I just started Assassin’s Creed:Brotherhood last night. I got bored very quickly. Carry flowers, aim and shoot style cannon thing and ride a horse down an alley. The action was spectacular but the gameplay early on was just a series of silly minigames.
Thankfully, I know what to expect later on so I will push through.

And Borderlands is an EXCELLENT example of grabbing you in the first 30 seconds – Aint No Rest For The Wicked is now one of my favourite songs, due to how well it was implemented in Borderlands.
