Nintendo Suggests You Send Them Your Frozen, Your Locked Up 3DS Systems

System freezes are starting to crop up on an unknown number of Nintendo's new 3DS portables. While we don't know how frequent the problem is, it's happening enough for Nintendo to include the issue on their official troubleshooting site.

According to Nintendo.com, System freezes that result in a white screen, black screen or inability to power off could mean that your brand new 3DS needs to be returned to Nintendo for repair.

Contacted Monday morning for comment Nintendo of America has yet to respond, though Nintendo UK has told outlets there that any experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console should first try the latest system update. If the issue persists, customers are told to contact Nintendo's Customer Service centre.

While Tristan's 3DS, which he purchased on Sunday, hasn't had any issues. My system has frozen twice on a black screen. The second time it occurred I was playing Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars and in the middle of the game the system just faded to black, slowly. Then it wouldn't respond, as you can see in the video above.

Crap crap crap. My 3DS has left the US. It better not be a dodgy unit!

It would make sense if you were playing Fade To Black

        Ba-Dum-Tsh!

Hopefully it'll just be a simple software issue, not a QC issue with the hardware. Good thing I haven't bought mine yet :S

This truly makes me nervous. I'm not terribly lucky with faulty systems. All the original NES consoles I have owned got the white screen pin problem (even though they are known for cruddy design and getting a Top Loader fixed that). One of my original Xbox's had those cruddy Thomson DVD drives and stopped reading games. I've had two Xbox 360's break. One launch, which I swapped with EB warranty and sold for a PS3. Then later when I thought the problem was fixed, an Arcade unit. Though my slims been going great.

I really hope my 3DS doesn't have this problem, I'm not a lucky person.

Hopefully my one doesn't have this issue

Yeah I was really excited to play this but I think this little mishap happens to be because of the internet browser and how it wasn't loading properly. I was on gamestop for the Internet Browser and it started to lag and glitch, maybe because it couldn't load,I don't know but I'm trying to let the battery die out first so far it's on red...I'm pretty much scared but if you have a clubnintendo account you can increase your warranty by entering the serial number.
