An Old Game About Fighting Robots Makes A Comeback

In 1996, brilliant British developers The Bitmap Brothers released “Z”, a real-time strategy game that featured drunken, belligerent robots shooting the crap out of each other. It was, I remember, tough to control, but it was also funny as hell.

At least, I remember my 16-year-old self thinking it was funny as hell. How things look and sound 15 years later, I guess we’re about to find out, as the game is being re-released later this year on (deep breath) PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android and even the Blackberry.

This updated version will be called Z: The Game, and will be released by Kavcom, who say “Fans of this classic strategy title are in for a real treat – everything is in there, from the terrific comedy cutscenes to the frantic multiplayer mode, and with a much friendlier, intuitive interface. This is going to be the definitive version of Z.”
