It Looks Like Pokémon XD: Gale Of Darkness Is Coming To 3DS

The magazine scans reader David points us towards are ridiculously blurry and the images vague, but three things are certain: That spiky-haired character is holding a Pokéball, the game is on the 3DS, and that’s Agate Village from Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

For more than a decade now, Pokémon fans have been clamoring for a console version of the role-playing games that set Nintendo’s handhelds on fire, and for years they’ve been getting watered down crap. Console titles like Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon Battle Revolution, and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness gave players a small taste of what they really wanted, but kept the full Game Boy and DS experience just out of reach.

So now, instead of giving players what they want, it looks like Nintendo is porting one of the games they didn’t want to the 3DS. This makes perfect sense.

The redhead in the scan is definitely the main character from Gale of Darkness, and Agate Village is a location visited in both Gale and Colosseum‘s adventure mode. Since both games feature similar locations, perhaps they’re combining both.

If the scans prove true, it looks like Nintendo is ready to bring the experience of being disappointed by a Pokémon game to the 3DS. Seems like a smart move to me.
