Say Goodbye To The DS Lite

If this image showing an email circulated amongst GameStop stores is legit, then the humble Nintendo DS Lite may now be a thing of the past.

Having been first succeeded by two models of the DS, the DSi and DSi XL, and now by an all-new handheld, the 3DS, the writing has been on the wall for a while now regarding the future of the DS Lite.

This message says that the DS Lite has already been discontinued, and that once GameStop stores have depleted their current stock, that’s it. No more DS Lites.

If true, it’s still sad to see the little guy go. For most, the DS Lite is the Nintendo DS, as it was not only the most popular iteration of the handheld but also most customer’s first exposure to the world-conquering DS family.

We’ve contacted Nintendo for confirmation, as well as word on whether all retailers and markets are affected, and will update if we hear back.
