SSIV: Arcade Edition Is More Than A Four-Character Expansion

Many of the facts about the upcoming home version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition leaked already. It adds four characters: Evil Ryu, Oni, Yun and Yang. It improved the game’s spectator mode, adding an Elite Channel that lets people watch games contested by players with 3000pp or more. It lets you follow up to five regular users to watch their replays.

The expansion will also display your online opponent’s battle rank and point during fights, “so you know exactly what your opponent is like while you’re fighting,” according to the expansion’s producer, Yoshinori Ono.

What else was there to know? It will be out on June 7 at a price of $US15 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC (Ono is particularly proud of that last one). It will also be released as part of a full disc release of Super Street Fighter IV.

If you choose not to buy the expansion, you’ll still experience some of its content. Capcom is going to let owners of the original game (sans expansion), those with the expansion and those with the new disc version of the Arcade Edition all match-make against each other.
