Surprise, A Mass Effect MMO ‘Totally Makes Sense’

In an interview in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, BioWare’s Casey Hudson talks about the future of his studio and the Mass Effect franchise now that the third RPG title is on its way.

One very natural topic of conversation is multiplayer. “We haven’t yet come up with a way to do that, so we don’t have anything to announce at this time,” he says. “But, obviously, multiplayer is something we want to do more of in the future as a company.”

Another? Massively multiplayer online games.

“A lot of people say that they want to see an MMO, I think that kind of makes sense for this universe”, Hudson told the mag. “I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

It does. And while this kind of chit-chat is just that, chit-chat, now that Mass Effect is well established as a “brand” in the market you’d be surprised if publishers EA didn’t want to release more games based on it.
