So I got a friend to start playing Minecraft.
I’d wish multiplayer was more accessible instead of having to hop on servers (thankfully we’ve got one courtesy of FatShady), because I want to play with my friend but it seems a bit ridiculous to go through all the trouble for 2 players only.
-
You could set up a lan server. Here are some instructions on how to. It’s not too complex.
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server
I just got around to reading Mark Serrels epic 3DS Street pass adventure. Too bad he missed out on 50. I’d dare say he’d have gotten there if Nintendo had a better launch line up. It doesn’t seem like there is much reason to guy one other then curiosity at the moment.
It was a good read but it just mad me sad again that I couldn’t get to the Sydney meet up and I Really wish I’d gotten to go to distant worlds. Is that likely to ever happen again?
-
Oh yeah, that reminds me. This is something I posted on the 3ds streetpass event article.
“Evidently there were more people with 3dss than you thought…it was a conspiracy, man!…they seem to have organised together to make sure they didn’t streetpass with you!

:P”
I think I settled on a name for my art blog. I wanted something snappy, something that could roll off the tongue. I’m thinking of going with:
Jamie Watt’s Imagisphere of Funtastic Wonderment & Artistic Endeavourations.
Thoughts?
-
Uh….Jamie’s what?
-
I like this one the best.
Jamie What? A blog by Jamie Watt.
-
If I were making a blog to rant about stuff and generally blog, this would be the best name.
Not sure about for art stuffs.
-
It could still work for art. Do you do abstract?
-
nope, more illustration type stuff. Click on my name for examples
-
-
Or Jamie Who? By Jamie Watt
-
-
What about:
Jamie’s All-Invigorating Lapses into Brilliant Artistical Inventive Talents.
useewhatididthar?
-
Iseewhatudidthar.
Clever, yet possibly misleading people into beliveing there will be considerable doodles of young ladies below the age of consent.
It seems a bit long, no? Unless most blog names are like that, I wouldn’t know.
Mine is just a pun of a 3D function, people who use 3DS Max would know.
-
Oh wow. I’d never seen it before. That’s an AWESOME name for a 3d art blog! xD
-
haha, thanks man
-
-
Just a bit long? I was going for excessively long.
I’ve been on a bit of a katamari binge all weekend :0 Never had a chance to play the ps2 ones before, and I’ve been having a blast! Has anyone played the ps3 one that came out a little while ago? Trying to decide if it’s worth getting, or whether it’s too much of the same?
Also wanna put out a hi and thanks to Jimu and his lovel wife for the lunch meetup! Joan and I had a great time, and certainly look forward to meeting up again sometime! 🙂 Maybe get some gaming in next time!
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
LUnch WOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
KATAMARI WOOOP WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
I played the 360 one, seemed the same as the PSP one, somehow I find it harder…the 360 one.
Marky Mark,
Did thee recievest an electronic mail from thines truly this gracious morn?
It was Cheapskate.
-
Will check now.
-
Ah! So that’s how you get Mark’s attention, speak in Old English!
Let me try then
Oh thou great and wonderful Lord Mark, ruler of the land of Kotaku.
I beseech thee to check thine mail inbox, for thy servant hast sent a letter in thy general direction, on the subject of delayed gifts. Nary a portion of said gifts has been received by thy servant, who hath anxiously awaited their arrival since the third month of our High Lord Mark Serrels.
I pray thee have mercy upon thy gracious and humble servant and send such promised gifts in due hast, lest I bequeth from TAY and make my presenceth known on the forum of thy mortal enemy, Bruff the Gruff…
😛-
Hahaha! I know I know. Sorry about the delay.
-
-
Also, is there anyway I can stop Kotaku logging in with Facebook and still be able to use Facebook?
-
On facebook, click Account in the top right corner, go into Privacy Settings, then down at the bottom click on edit your settings for apps and websites. Click on remove unwanted or spammy apps (Disclaimer, kotaku is not a spammy app, click kotaku australia, then click remove app.
Hope this helps-
Indeed! Most helpful. removed app and all is good now. Cheers!
-
-
if memory serves me correctly, strange said the solution was to remove the kotaku app/link from facebook itself?
-
Off-Topic, but: Holy Balls! Please change the background of your blog to be something less eye-siezure-worthy!!!
ON Topic: I think you need to clear your active logins through your browser, because AFAIK there isn’t a “log out of facebook” option.
-
LOL. Yeah, that’s only there because I’m at work. Obviously I will create my own custom backdrop later. I’ll also be removing all the text and replace it with a logo. Till then, you’re all stuck with Purple Space.
-
I’m watching a Let’s Play of Majora’s Mask. At one point they say “if you walk without rhythm, you won’t attract the worm.” Obviously they didn’t get that the line was a reference to Dune because when they fought the boss that’s two giant sand worms, they didn’t reference the line again.
Oh, such wasted opportunities. Silly goons.
-
Ohhhhhhh it’s a dune reference! That makes so much sense now. I always thought it was some obscure reference to the worm dance, but no, this makes much more sense. Ha, how about that.
-
I read Dune for the first time reasonably recently and heard that song again shortly afterwards.
It might have been that I heard the two reasonably close together, but it seemed so specific that it didn’t seem like it could be anything but a Dune reference. That, or my brain just happens to be particularly good at picking out references.
-
Yeah same, I only read it for the first time over last Christmas. T’was good! Not sure I could be bothered following the whole series though… I kind of like it at that point. I dunno, could be wrong, maybe the series is utterly spectacular and I’m missing out?
-
From what I’ve heard, the first book is the best (it’s the only one I’ve read), the other books written by the original author are alright, and the ones written by his son (I think) are just terrible.
-
I had the same problem. I read the first book, enjoyed it but decided that it probably wasn’t worth reading the rest of the series. That being said, I have Children of Dune sitting on my Kindle just begging to be read, so I may report later with some interesting findings.
-
I read all six dunes and the last two are the best!
-
Sooo… does that mean 2 3 and 4 are mediocre but I have to read them to get to 5 and 6? That sounds like a lot of dune reading… I like to diversify genres a bit between each book. Not 6 of the same genre, let alone same story 🙁
-
I’m pretty sure he’s being a troll.
I could be wrong though…
-
You are so wrong!
Loved the whole series, every book. The last two were the best. NO SHIT!No troll.
-
-
-
I dont know man… I’ve read all of them.
Chapter House was, well… well, it wasn’t good.
Let’s leave it at that. -
TRAVESTY!
-
So who has ordered Mortal Kombat despite the ban ?
-
Yes… do please post that on here.
It would be even better if you could log into Facebook whilst you do.
Leave your full name and address here too please.-
I tell you, the intelligence level here just mows my blind…
😛
-
-
I didn’t.
Before release I thought the game looked clunky and not too impressive. After watching some high level Street Fighter players like Combofiend and Alex Valle play it, I feel safe in my assumptions. Others may have fun with it, but it isn’t my type of fighter.
Woooo, its dead in here! Echo…
-
Quack.
-
Moooooooo…
-
quack, quack… quack………..quack
-
hello hello hello.
i’m at uni library trying to study but failing miserably. : (
Whew, came back from Melbourne.
Spent a lot of money, got a few albums, a few dvds, and Insane on PC for $5 at EB.
Oh… I forgot to mention… one of those DVD’s was Wrestlemania X-Seven. 😀
Ah work tomorrow after a rather dull weekend and after the only thing I was planning to do was sleep i’n until at least 8 my plans have been foiled because if me unable to sleep i’n crappy beds that aren’t mine. How was all of your weekends?
-
My old friend the toilet had a great meeting with my face, and I can’t remember four odd hours of that night…
So pretty good!
-
Thursday night I got pretty drunk with a mate from work on a shitty beer that I have never heard of before thats his favorite. Then another mate and his gf came over and we watched the office on a projector. Then because I’m only I my p plates had to spend the night on the worlds best couch. But I had to leave for a 4 hour drive to a shitty house owned by my mums boyfriend. So one part good 4 parts meh.
-
Weirdly, I don’t remember drinking that much, I’d had two beers, and was midway through a stupidly strong rum and coke when it all went black (I may have had another, less strong one prior to that, but I’m not quite sure). Weirdly, the last photo on my 3DS was taken at 11:59 (it’s great because the click comes way after it takes the photo, so they try to get out of it, and fail).
I was enjoying the party until that point. For some reason I like talking to people while intoxicated, but despise it normally.

Quite a few people over on /r/gaming seems to have this weird idea that the harder levels of Portal 2 were taken out because of limitations with console controls and not because the playtesters were complaining about difficulty. Valve wanted to reach a wider audience, which meant toning down the difficulty, it really isn’t that hard of a concept to grasp.
Everything in the first portal can be done just fine with controller. Hell, it can be done with a trackpad. I know, I’ve finished the first game on my laptop using the trackpad. The reduction in difficulty has nothing to do with controls.
Stupid PC master race shenanigans. Just because keyboard and mouse is better doesn’t mean that controllers are completely incapable.
/rage
-
How is your mechanical keyboard going ? Any good,
-
There’s two of them.
One has firmware issues and doesn’t work with Macs (an issue I’m told only effects a small number of keyboards), so I can’t really comment on it much. Although when I plugged it into a Windows machine and did a few minutes of random typing it felt awesome. Very snappy, very responsive.
The other one does work on my Mac and is what I used for two chapters of Portal 2 co-op. For that level of gaming, I didn’t notice a huge improvement over my Apple keyboard or the MS wireless keyboard I have. In terms of typing on it, the keys feel softer than my Apple keyboard but there is more travel distance.
After years of using Apple keyboards, I really haven’t used the mechanical keyboard enough to say that it’s better, just that it feels different and that is throwing me off ever so slightly.
I really want to try the one with the firmware issues out properly. It’s pretty much what I imagined a mechanical keyboard would be like, aside from the fact that it doesn’t work on my main computer.
Long story short, I need more time to really tell you if they’re worth it.

/r/gaming is just a circlejerk of PC Fanboys. I think I hate PC fanboys just as much as the racist/homophobic idiots on XBL.
Seriously, they just absolutely crucified Crysis 2, bitch about everything, always rant about how much better the PC and how everyone is a sellout for not making good PC games. Considering the costs, the testing to make sure it works on all sorts of combinations of PC Hardware, and the PC Piracy levels, I don’t blame the PC devs at all.
Also, they see ONE screen. ONE loading screen that says ‘saving, do not turn off console’ and they start ranting about how Valve are terrible people, the potato ARG was a waste of my time and a cashgrab, day one ‘DLC’ and basically, Valve are hellspawn. FFS. Tossers.
/rant.
-
I try to avoid anything relating to the PC master race or consoles over at /r/gaming, but I fell into this trap.
The sense of entitlement is ridiculous.
-
-
Hey! I played with a keyboard and mouse!
And just this morning I was saying that bits of it were too easy!
THIS IS SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE
Hypothesis: PROVENSeriously though, not that I agree with the stupiding up for console, but as someone with poor controller skill(z), I would have a bastardly hard time doing any fast shooting whilst midair on my PS3 controller. And I feel like those sorts of hectic moments were a bit lacking in the game. Only notable moments: Colliding in mid-air with your partner, and doing that one where you had to laser the turrets mid-air, both in co-op.
That 4th trailer about the boots where Chell is all leaping and bounding about the place shooting portals was pretty cool. Not that I expected anything crazy like that, but, a few more would have been nicer is all.-
You’d be amazed at just how much time you have for those sorts of moments.
More importantly, Portal does a great job of training the people who play it. By the time you get to trickier parts of the game, you should be good enough to pass them with whatever tools you have available. Even if those tools include a Dual Shock 3 :p
I would have welcomed harder puzzles. The only thing missing from Portal 2 was the harder puzzles. Instead of really exploring the possibilities of the new mechanics introduced, they seemed to just cover a few interesting uses and then moved on to the next one.
Still, the point was that the reason for the harder puzzles was not console controls. The reason they didn’t end up in the game was because of negative feedback from the playtesters.
-
This is where the level editor will come in. I hope to see some crazy awesome and difficult levels being made with it, both SP and Coop ones 😀
-
Well I guess the problem with a puzzle game is the limited amount of times you can re-use an idea before the player starts effectively and quickly identifying the problem and the solution. Single Player always seemed to be moving onwards, but I feel like they refined some of the puzzles in Co-Op, like when you had blue gel a light bridge going downwards and then bounce your way upwards. It took us a while to figure that one out, but if they had done something similar later on, we probably would have been right on top of it.
While I yearn for more, I can understand why they did move one so quickly.
-
-
-
I’m so sick of people giving other people a bad name. Christians, PC Master race people, Murderers…
The calls are ridiculous. Admittedly, yes, Valve probably could have made Portal 2 look considerably better (my crappy machine can theoretically run it on full), yes, they could have had more puzzles that required quick finger use (which I used to suck at on pc).
They didn’t, and I doubt it’s the consoles fault. Stupid people, can’t they just accept life for what it is, and embrace the good? There’s so much joy in this world… I am far too old for this.
-
I do differentiate between PC gamers and PC Master Race. The first are pretty cool dudes who happen to prefer the PC, the others are self-entitled douches who think that all other forms of gaming are inferior.
-
Aye, you did, but I’m a master race guy. I find pcs preferable in every way.
Except cost.
And I’m a cheapskate.
Also, I’m not a douchebag about it to other people. I am happy to accept that not everyone wants to fork out money for a gaming pc.
-
-
Hey Jimu,
Just wondered what your opinion was of The L:ast Remnant. Also, anyone else with an opinion on the matter, feel free to voice it.
-
Have you played it? I loved it.
I don’t think I finished it though, there was sooo much stuff to do and I think I played another game and kept forgetting to go back to it. I was really enjoying the different battle system.-
I haven’t played it.
It was one of those games I always saw in the Xbox section and wondered about. Saw that I could get it on Steam and was thinking about picking it up. I’ve recently converted to the wonderful world of PC Gaming after realising I could get my PS3 controller to work on the PC
-
-
Played it, love it.
Is the one game I leave on the 360 HD, is good but a little repetitive. I want to do all the missions before I head off on story.
Is an interesting take on the classic turn-based system.
FUN FACT: It is the one JRPG I know of that it is better NOT to grind…until you get to the last dungeon…
(Posting this down here only because it’ll probably get lost up above; I’m not meaning to especially push or highlight this)
Jim Wallace sets out some more context here, some of it I thought was interesting in how it relates to the view of E18+ that the ACL is pushing:
http://au.tv.yahoo.com/sunrise/video/-/watch/25022611/anzac-day-twitter-rant-backlash/
Namely, that an idealised ‘past’ is of more worth and virtue than the reality of the present. Coupled with a healthy dose of mistrust in adults to choose to hear, see or read what they feel is appropriate.
-
Do you remember when the streets were paved with gold, and birds flew through the skies? We didn’t pollute the Earth, we embraced it! For every man, there was a woman, someone to look after the house, maybe get a small job. Everyone could stay safe, knowing that we were being defended from the horrors of the world, by the brave Aussie ServiceMen who marched gloriously into battle.
Those were the days.
(Please note, I do not wish to insult Aussie troops with this, they go through hell, and war is not glorious in any sense of the term, while I doubt I would get crucified here, I figured it was worth pointing that out)
-
LOL! He denounces the twitter backlash as minority groups that have disproportionate media influence! So, Mr Wallace, about that…
Dawdle! Sorry me and Gorzilla were not very fun on minecraft last night. Both of us were afk for most of the time.
-
Aren’t you the one with the horde of wolves?
Can I have 1? xD
-
No I think that is Lamboman, he has quite the pack!
-
Yep that’s me. If I could give you one I would, but I can’t so I won’t…or something along those lines
-
So i’m thinking of giving this Minecraft thing a try. May I join your server?
-
email sent, just reply with your username please.

Anyone with a 3DS, see question below.
Can it play movies from the SD card yet?
I need to know for an upcoming project.
Also, platinumed inFamous on the weekend, then waited patiently so I could upload my first inFamous 2 UGC mission… friggin’ PSN…
If anyone else is inFamous 2 BETAing add me (once the PSN is back up) and we can play with each other…………s missions.
Some Christians fed up with being associated with the ACL have started a petition.
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/australian-christians-against-the-acl.html
-
Evidently there are only 58 Christians not like the ACL…
I doubt everyone who signed is really taking it seriously, especially Mr **s Face (No seriously, look at the list of people who signed and you’ll see Mr **s Face there)
Hi
Back from the Eatzac holidays, hope you all had good ones and if you worked that you use that OT to buy Ol’ Jimu a gift!
Just answered a q from J. Watt on page one and also left a scattering of comments there as well.
Highlights include:
DUNE, I like the 5th and 6th books best.
Meeting Welbot, a fist-fight broke out while out wives cheered us on. My 9month old son did me pround when he shot a hadouken into Welbot’s testicles!
Plus many more!
Act now first 5min free all following minutes cost your first born!

hahah that’s some damn dirty tactics having your baby fight your battls for you and go all johnny cage on my ass! I could never fight back against that! Lucky for me Joan won him over with smiles or i’d be mince meat!
-
I’m re-reading the dune books now.
I still love the original book the best, possibly biased because the DUNE RPG was the first rpRPGg i ever played, and I loved it.
JAMIE WATT!
I tried to be your friend in Deviant Art, I put up a few of my sketches too!
-
Try? Do, or do not! There is no try.
Sorry, couldn’t resist. Added you to my watch list on DeviantArt. Had a look at your art too. My favourite? Boobs McSword of course!
-
Of course, you had quite a few ginies in yours!
-
You should see the one I’m working on now. It’s working title is “Strip Poker”
-
Jamie What? and Jimu, I shall watch you guys as well. Not in the stalker sense though…unless that’s what you’re into?
-
HELLS YES!
I shower at 7am!
-
Dammit, I thought it was my job to be a stalker!
-
I’ll be there at 5-to then 😛
-
The more the merrier!

I also enjoy show…er, erm, art watching.
What are your usernames?

BALLS…
After 5 years, I’m feeling a great need to go overseas. I’m planning it for the end of this year/early next year. Any good suggestions?
Now all I need is money…
*Goes to parents bedroom*
MUM, DAD, I NEED $5000!
-
Japan! 😀
They probably need the tourism, and the areas affected by the tsunami/nuclear problems are well away from tourist cities and Tokyo.
I’m kinda planning some travel too, would love to head to China at the end of this year or early next year, seems like an amazing place. Plus good to practice Mandarin 🙂
-
Britain.
You’ll be there for the divorce.
Well i did it. I did not post a single comment over the entire break. Also didnt have too much to say.
But here are a few catch up points.
Playing single player BFBC2 and really enjoying it. There is a level called snowblind (***spoilers i guess???)
Where you work your way through the level while also figting off freezing to death. You have to hide in houses to defrost before you move on. A really interesting mechanic and added another layer of realism to the level. Was really good. I think I have 3 more levels to go before i finish it then back to MP. I think I am level 2 atm!!!!
Started to get back into New Vegas and was really liking it again. Have not played it for almost 3 months! I have hit an issue. I made a decision that I feel was the wrong one. (no spoilers here) but it automatically made me fail like 10 quests. I decided to play on in the spirit of living with my poor choices but now I have pissed off so many people I feel i can’t progress the story without being completely raped by each faction everywhere i go… funny thing was that up until this point I had not had a single fight with any faction!!! Unfortunately I have to load a prior save and not make that choice!!! A few hours lost there!
Also got my wii out of the plastic bag in the cupboard it was in and will set it up tonight. I am still a Nintendo hater (sorry but that is just me) but There is an upcoming wiiware game MotoHeroz by Redlynx (Trials HD surprise surprise) that actually looks really good for a wiiware title and should be a ton of fun. Actually hoping a few of you get into it also. So just for that I will play my wii again. Should be released this year some time>???? I also want to do the reader review of it….
Also Redlynx’s iphone game 1000Heroz wont be out in April, but likely May so will look forward to that one also.
Finally, my other fav developer Natural Motion is working on a Backbreaker XBLA game that I am really keen for as a pick up and play game. Although I still play trials HD, I am looking for a game that you can play for 1 minute to 4 hours with no real issue with you ending a session at any point. I am hoping this to be my new game.
Oh, and finally pt2. Operation flashpoint Red River is on its way. I spoke to a UK mate of mine who has this game and he gave it a big thumbs up! I am keen for co-op when it arrives so make sure im on your FL (xbox 360)
I think that is all. Hope you had a good break and welcome back to for most of you a 3 day week! (btw, I hung out with friends and family, ate crabs (no crab jokes please….) watched some movies and ate heaps of stuff. But I thought you’d be monre interested in the gaming side of my break. Good to be back!
-
Oh and PSN thingy… I have both systems but play everything on the 360 but I feel for you PS people. Ive heard a few go on about “you get what you pay for” or whatever, I just hope it is back online soon. I doubt LIVE is immune so I won’t be a prick about it. It is a shitty situation and PS better get their shit together quick and come forward with some actual information. This will seriously do damage to their reputation.
Gamers should support each other through this difficult time rather than continue with our fanboy ways…. The last thing I would want to read if LIVE was down is comments about PSN.. so ya’ll be nice, y’hear!
-
See, why can’t the rest of the internet be like you? I go to someplace like Reddit and everyone is just bitching about everything, whereas you can keep it objective.
-
So this “being nice” thing only applies to Live/PSN people right? 😉
-
Well said, sir. 🙂
-
I just got a full-on robot chubby!:

-
Seen Thor yet?
-
Yeah, was alright.
Had to see it in 3D though…that was shit.
-
I didn’t mind the 3D.
I thought they did a pretty good job.
A few clunky moments, but I enjoyed it.
-
-
So are we all back? (I don’t which days are public holidays as this is my week off uni.) I have placement interviews tomorrow :S I really do hope I get in, because I’ll get paid, I’ll learn, but I won’t have to study, and hence when games like Arkham City, Gears 3, Uncharted 3, BF3, Skyrim and the inevitable Assassin’s Creed come out, I can just play and not worry about exams!
Speaking of Gears, has anyone been playing the beta? I have, and it’s quite fun! I get annoyed at the sawed off, I think it should have two shots, or reload faster. And charging with the retro lancer is fun, but it seems way to easy to get knocked over and stop the charge. Still, the chickens are fun to charge into. Perhaps we could organise a little Kotaku playdate? If not, feel free to add my gamertag, N0toriousR. I won’t be playing much this week, but I will next week.
Also, Relay for life is this weekend, so any more donations wold be very much welcomed (Hit my name for the donation link.)
Final thing before I go do homework: Am I the only one experiencing connection issues and longer than usual load times? Are you guys still having server issues Mark/Elly/Seamus?
-
I’m still having a few connection problems and pages refusing to load…
Thankfully Kotaku (I guess it’s the WordPress stuff?) magically saves comments so we don’t lose anything when pages don’t load 😀
-
If you are not on my FL hit me up man for some GEARS action.
GT: FatShady Live
Ive been playing for long enough to know I suck but happy to game with you or anyone else!
-
You’re not the only one… hang in there.

-
The idea of Robert Pattinson or Justin Timberlake shouting “KANEDAAAAA!” is just ridiculous.
-
You have to admit, that might actually be hilariously bad enough to watch.
-
-
George Takei is amazeballs.
I think he has a point, though. This quote from the article makes sense: “it seems permissible — some would argue necessary — to include at least in supporting roles actors whose appearances reflect the fabric of society, especially when doing so would not detract from the story or the idioms of the characters.”
Even more so when the characters aren’t meant to be white in the first place.
-
It’s times like this I hate Hollywood. I always wanted to get in to film just to be the one guy who makes movies based other mediums and says “Lets get this as close as possible”
It’s raining again.
-
Hallelujah!
It’s raining… oh, “again”.
Nevermind.
-
Holy… wow. But dude, but the games on a blanket or something. Makes me cry a little seeing them all on the dirty lawn :'(
-
*put the games… don’t but them. That would just make things worse.
-
I thought it was quite a nice lawn.
-
That’s a man who knows how to take care of his lawn, that’s for sure.
(Not a euphemism)
-
-
wee! i just bought a hori fighting stick for xbox360 for $20!! SCORE!!!!
-
From where? I jelly…
-
got it second hand from a guy who posted a message in the forums on xbox.com. He paid $100 for it from JB, thinking it would make him better at fighting games, but he still sucked, so he used it twice, and put it in his top drawer never to be used agian 😉
It’s in fantastic condition, and just tested it in mame on my pc before! Bloody awesome stuff!

Trjn, did you see this?
I laughed! Out loud? no…

I do but I’m not online and I believ you’re not in QLD…
-
Wait…
The Mew or the action replay?
Or the old sea bass…ticket?
-
The Mew. I have two. One from Emerald and one from My Pokemon Ranch on Wii

Genuine laughter was produced.
Production of laughter may have been influenced by the Arrested Development DVD I am watching but this is still amusing.
-
“Production of laughter may have been influenced by the Arrested Development DVD I am watching… ”
That seems… unlikely.
-
That time I did laugh out loud!
-
My attempt to get help with a blog name has backfired to some degree and circumvented my attempt to slowly change my handle.
Why fight it? New handle. Hopefully no one will get too confused.
-
Who’s this guy and what is he talking about???
-
Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave…
-
Probably another James Mac
-
I am technically a James (So says my birth certificate) but not a Mac. What larks could have been had if only my father had a different name!
LARKS I SAY!

Hey is anybody going to the Sydney Gamers League this weekend? My clan is short 1 player.

No SIR?
Why not LADY?-
No, Stick with Sir!
The aim of this community is to confuse and bewilder everyone who attempts to join it! That’s why we have such an unreadable comment system! This is why we must hide everyone’s gender, and then laugh at people who get it wrong. Particularly those who get it wrong twice.
-
Haha, well I figured the game was up now. I only used Sir because I enjoyed trolling, saying stupid stuff and getting away with it anonymously… but obviously that’s not happening anymore!
-
Well, in my opinion, “Eats-a-Lot” seems a little weird, as is, so I think you have one of two options.
1: Tack something onto the front, as you had previously.
2: Troll us all even more by switching to another name (I dunno, what you usually use, if that exists?) and not telling us, then acting smug and superior when we have no idea what’s going on.
-
Plainview?

Where is that lovable rogue?
*Blows on a horn that I pulled out of no where*
PLAINVIEW, we need you! -
Didn’t you know? Plainview and I are the same person.

Unfortunately the only thing holding me back from raising my hand is I’m in Melbourne 🙁
Glad to see everyone back safe after the break 🙂
I finally used my Kinect after nearly a month of ownership. Set it up for my friends six year old to play with. Definitley designed for kids. He had a blast, and so did i. I found the best way to play is to use the child as a controller. You duck down behind them so the Kinect registers them, then you just chuck em round the room. Just make sure you have enough space. Nearly put the little fella through the wall a couple of times, so glad that kids bounce. 🙂
Was cool to see the “wow” factor in a little kid. Can’t see myself playing alone. Might bring it out with mates if we having a few bevvies, but i really can’t see myself using it too often.
The ABC’s Lateline news show are looking for stories of people affected by the PSN security breach, if you want to get on the teevee their email is lateline@your.abc.net.au
So I’m currently making my way back to Sydney after a weekend up the coast. We just stopped for lunch at one of the places on the side of the highway and I realised OMFG KFC DOUBLE DOWN!
So I walked in to the “restaurant” ready to slam my money on the counter and demand my food. This would finally be it – The entire month, I kept saying, ‘I’ll go a little later, I’ll go a little later…’ And when I got there, they told me it had just finished. And when I asked the KFC lady if it’ll ever come back again, she said she didn’t know.
Turns out that yesterday was the last day!! http://www.kfc.com.au/about-us/news.asp
So kids, the moral of the story is that you should grasp every opportunity you have in life. Otherwise you’ll miss out on your double down, and spend the rest of your life full of regret… sniff
-
Wasn’t that great, still prefer ZINGER!
-
So did you have a Zinger Double Down???
And this seems the best place to post about a discovery i made over easter. If you go into maccas and ask for a “pounder” you get with a massive burger four 1/4 ponder patties and about 6-8 pieces of cheese for bout $15. AWESOME!!!!!!
Who’s up to the challenge?????-
You didn’t know about the pounder?
During show-week during College we’d often get people buying pounder’s with triple Bacon. I was never game enough to try though.
-
So you wuss out then UP the challenge???!!!
(Internet equivalant of soft gloved slap)
Challenge accepted!!! -
Oh, OH! Do you want to do this? It’s ON!
We need a livestream Kotaku: Pounder with triple bacon challenge. Maybe turn it into an oreo pounder with triple bacon challenge, for the real men (that would be like, two kilos of actual food).
-
-
-
Of course and really???
-
The pounder: traditional 2am meal for those doing an all-night co-op session.
-
There was a live stream of one of the Game Arena guys eating a ‘Tripple Double’.
It was… disturbing.
Bummer dude.
Something better will come along…
Like the Craz-E Burger! (Look it up)
-
Ok will look up.
If i don’t find an MDMA spiked burger that will make me trip balls i will be maaaad disappointed…..
Hey guys – I’m going to be on ABC News 24 at 4pm talking about the PSN situation. Stay tuned to hear my beguiling, enchanting accent.
-
Make sure you have your award on display. Possibly lick it at least once.
-
Is there some way of seeing it after home time?
-
THIS!
-
-
I’ll be watching! 😀
-
I’ll be watching, particularly because I just realised I could watch it while playing Half-Life 2, and because I don’t have to leave the basement to do so.
-
Awkward shot of you at the end there Mark, just spinning around on your chair. That was probably my favourite part of the interview. 😛
-
Best three seconds EVER.
The slow chair-swivel, the deadpan staring into the camera, the realisation that it was all still running on air.
-
I think they expected a “thanks for having me on” or something. Geez Mark, where’s all the media training? It’s pretty clear that Seamus has had lots… Or maybe that’s just his hair.
-
lol! I didn’t think I had to say something in reply! But I did!
-
I really wish I’d been recording, just so I could immortalise those last three seconds on youtube, it truly was amazing.
-
I only just saw it! I knew that the last shot would have to have been discussed here. Turns out I was right! Was so so good.
-
-
-
Darn it I won’t be home by that time… I won’t be home till late tonight, got bowling 😛
Enchanting indeed.
I missed it 🙁
I missed it too 🙁
Is it on the interwebs anywhere??
I missed it too 🙁
Is it on the interwebs anywhere?
Just popping in again to say we now have an (un)offical Steam group.

OMG how did I miss this? Okay joining as soon as I get home

I don’t know what’s the best part: the waving of random kitchen utensils, the random guy who isn’t really paying attention to what’s going on and pours himself a glass of milk and uses the laptop, the guy holding the dog up or just the whole thing.
Streaming of Sir Serrels
http://www.abc.net.au/news/abcnews24/
-
QUICK!!! APPROVE!!!! HE”S ABOUT TO BE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Damn, did I miss it? Is there any uploads? I must listen to Serrels voice again.
I have ‘Dear Prudence’ stuck in my head, so I went in search of something else to listen to and found (for the Foo Fighters fans/Dave Grohl devotees)An entire live set of “Wasting Light”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnmzins2Uow
I got exhausted watching Taylor slam the shit out of those drums.
Also, anyone gonna go check out “Back and Forth” this week? I think this is the live set that follows the flick as well…
-
:I….:)…..:D
Awesome!!!
When’s Back and Forth on?-
Disregard that question, getting myself set for tomorrow night!
-
Saaaaaaaaaaame!
-
-
I am very annoyed.
I’ve been playing Half-Life 2, because it’s such a brilliant game, and I just finished the Ravenholm segment, which was my favourite part of the game when I first played it (had the most “wow” factor). However, for this playthrough, I’m achievement whoring it up. I played through the entirety of Ravenholm, only using the gravity gun. Then it didn’t give me the Gorramn achievement.
I think I’m going to go cry now.
-
Also, I haven’t called you all old recently (for at least four days), so, here, feel OLD.
-
WOW. What timing! I literally started a new campaign today!
I’m up to the end of the hoverboat segment.
SUCH a good game. 😀
-
I decided that since I wanted to be on Steam, so as to try and pester people into playing co-op Portal 2 with me, but since I’ve played through it once, and a fair chunk of it a second time, I thought “I know, I’ll replay Half Life 2!”
Sadly, I’ve realised that I’m terrible at it. I managed Episode 1, only firing one bullet (that was a beetch), but for some reason whenever anything appears in straight up number two, my system seems to be “Stand there, getting shot, while shooting at the ground.”
Still, at least it gives me another excuse to play through Ravenholm.
-
I’ve often cited Half-Life 2 and its episodes as perfect example of how achievements can have positive effects on gameplay. “Zombie Chopper”, “The One Free Bullet” and “Little Rocket Man” all forced you to play in an entirely different and interesting way. In the case of “Zombie Chopper”, it makes an already freaky level absolutely terrifying.
Though the first time I put the gnome in the rocket for “Little Rocket Man”, I didn’t shut the door… I didn’t realise that was the problem until much later and ended up having to replay the 2 hours before the rocket to get my chance again!!
-
-
-
I started on the weekend.
Up to… Nova Prospekt? Scary ant lion queens 🙁-
I LOVED Nova Prospekt.
Wait, it has just occurred to me, I’m not sure there was anything in the game I didn’t love.
Anyway, Fun Fact (none of my facts are actually fun, though some are a little flirtatious): Gabe Newell said it was a mistake to call the episodes Half-Life 2: Episode whatever, and that they really should have been called Half-Life 3: Episode whatever. The only reason they were released as episodes was so people would get them sooner, and they were designed to simply tell the story of the next full game. Some time during the creation of Episode 2 though, they began to doubt whether the episodic content was worth it (although it does make some differences from a creation perspective).
-
… Are you hitting on me?
-
No, but my facts might be!
-
-
-
-
I remember when I got the Ravenholm achievement it took until about 10 minutes into the next level before the achievement actually popped up.
-
I’m still in the middle of playing it for the first time (on 360) and I think I’m most of the way through Ravenholm (currently up on a roof waiting for the crazy guy to come back), there’s no way I could stay alive in this level without a shotgun!
That was a few months back though – I put it down for a while to finish Portal 1 and am on the verge of finishing Assassin’s Creed 1 (Al Mualim tonight!)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
NEIIIIIIN!!!!! いいええええええええええ!!!!!
I saw this on ABC News 24, I was shattered.
-
Wow, that’s pretty hardcore…
-
Is anyone really all that surprised?
Still, it’s a damned shame. That would have been a ‘royal wedding’ show I’d actually watch. -
Ohhh lame, I thought they just meant the Chasers werent allowed near the wedding (which I figured was the case anyway). But to not even be able to comment on it? Pfffft…

Yes, heaps of fun 😀

I am soooooooooo tired today…2nd day back…booo!
Let’s make Gizmodo’s White-noise not so dead.
I think if we inject it with a bit of the KotakAU spirit, it’ll blossom by itself.
Also, Mark, tell Nick to put it as one of the editors picks, because I don’t think the Giz readers quite understand what it’s for!
-
It’ll be a slow burn for Giz. They’re far less social than you guys.
Good suggestion though – I’ll mention it to Nick. When he looks less tired and grumpy.
-
Wait, are you suggesting we invade whitenoise again?
😀
Count me in! -
We tried that, they told us to “f*ck off”
-
I say we pick a story on ‘lifehacker’ and invade there… those hippies will never know what happened.
-
Looks like we have people starting to claim that hackers may have used their credit card details due to the Playstation hack.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/04/28/3202046.htm?section=entertainment
-
Yeah… I just got a call from my Dad saying he heard the same thing…
-
Domestic flights with Australia and hotels? Sounds like the sloppiest hacker ever. Wouldn’t this also mean that the PSN was hacked by an Aussie?
-
This does seem somewhat odd, unless this is simply one of many various “testings” of the credit card info the hackers may have gotten.
Will be interested to see if there are reports of odd purchases over different countries.-
Yeah I had my card skimmed once and got a call from Commonwealth telling me they were trying to use it for similar things but that it got picked up as a test thing and got denied. They sorted it all out and sent me a new card. Much love for the C Bank!

Which bank?

Looks like the site is down.

I have become a meme.
Also, in case you missed it, here’s a youtube link to the ABC News 24 piece!
-
I don’t get it, but I can’t stop laughing!
-
Lol awesome! xD
Soon it’ll be a Serrels cat and replace hamburger with cheezeburger and you’ll have lolcats named after you! 😛 -
That was awesome! 😀 Its the silly news networks fault, sometimes the say thank you and move on, sometimes they expect a your welcome. Your not the only one to suffer at the hands of inconsistent thank you’s on the news. But that rotating move, was something to behold 😀 Did the misses give you tv stardom ‘hugs’? I know I would have 😉
-
I can’t stop laughing. That rotate was full of win. Like a Serrelsbot.
-
If only he did a nice 180
-
-
-
Last 3 seconds was golden!
Also, why did they keep recycling footage of Xbox 360 demo stations?
-
You’re a celebrity now. You’ll be drunkenly fighting with Paparazzi and giving us looks up your kilt when getting out your limo.
-
That look on your face has been engrained in my memory. I will never forget it! 😀
-
I can’t stop laughing out loud. The other people in the office are giving me weird looks…
-
Where’s Sughly? He needs to draw this. 😀
-
Draw what? Oh wait, I see. But I’m trying to make a game :'(
-
Ok just caus you remembered me Strange! http://kramsdesign.com/misc/kotaku/serrels-stare.jpg

I wouldv labelled HindenLagen in the pic, only I think it represents most of us.

Haha nice!
That’s almost exactly what it was like….. except there are no dividers in the office. There is nothing between me and their evil judging eyes!
-
-
Of course I remembered you!
I would remember you better though if you’d meet up with me, Welbot, Jimu, Bunny, dzc12, Endu(I think?) and anyone else I’ve forgotten around Brisbane. 😉 -
I knoooooooooow, but, but…
-
But nothing, young man! 😛

/me slopes lazily into the TAY after a nice long break plus one extra day. Sorry, been doing things about the house yesterday. Supervising is my strong point. Allow my step-dad to do home repairs was my failure point.
You see, he’s retired. And retired old guys are a cranky moody lot, who due to their age, believe they have mastered every skill-set and job profession to a high enough degree to happily attempt any repair job. Its become an amusing pastime of mine to watch how badly he can mess things up.
I have many stories about his repairs, he’s had fingers stuck in a car fan severing ligaments to two fingers. On TWO occasions! He’s electrocuted himself, he’s chainsawed his leg etc. But this is the story of his toilet repair.
So, my toilet had a slight trickle, combined with an annoyed hissing sound. I took a look at things and solved the cause being due to a small 5mm rubber washer atop the float/refil mechanism. Ok, I stupidly thought, this is a job he can hack… So, I let him know, and he jumps at the chance to wield his hammer like a cross between Mr Bean and Mr Magoo. He has a look, and after being wrong three times, he finally agrees that its the rubber washer at fault. So, off he goes to the plumbing supplies. He calls me and says he needs to get a whole new float system (because he doesn’t know exactly the plumbing terms to tell the plumbing suppliers exactly what’s wrong). He brings it home, it doesn’t fit. He goes out again, returns it, then decides he’ll just buy a whole new flushing section. My little rubber washer has so far now cost me $109. He pulls out the old one (I was surprised he remember to turn of the water!) and starts putting it in. I do a quick check in to see how its going and am amused to see he’s putting in a white unit which looks rather odd against the cream coloured toilet. I point this out, he’s says, ‘oh damn’. So, he puts it all back in the box and goes out again. He comes back this time with a complete whole bloody toilet! ‘Can’t get cream so had to get a whole toilet’ he says. Now I’m $200 down.
So, he says removal of the old one is easy, and gets to work. Shortly he comes downstairs and shows me his wedding ring which he’s managed to squeeze/bend onto his finger. After much swearing he gets it off. ‘Have you got some pliers to bend it back in shape he asks’ I say its probably best to get it shaped at a jewellers, but apparently he fancies himself as having the required skill-set to perform fine detail jewellery work. He trundles back in after a few minutes with a white look on his face. I inspect his handiwork. I go a bit white now too.
He couldn’t find pliers, so, what’s the next best thing? According to him, the bench vice was. :-/ He put it in, squeezed it, and was genuinely surprised to hear a crack sound as the large rectangular opal with inset diamonds shattered. But he assured me he can fix it when he gets home. When mum finds out, he’s a dead man. He tries so hard and fails so hilariously. 😀
So, back to the toilet. The old toilet removal turned out to be much harder than he anticipated (durrr) and he ended up shattering the bowl. He then discovered how sharp porcelain is with a test involving the veins and skin across the back of his hand. Much blood is lost, and eventually he agrees to at least apply a bandage. After a few more hours, he had actually completed the job. An extra few o-rings, piping and silcone and total was around $250. All would be fantastic, except his replacement loo and a different fitting at the back, which didn’t match up to the existing shit piping in the floor. Rather than mess about aligning it, he just went ahead and drilled the tiles (amazingly without shattering them) and silconed the shitter down good and proper.
I’m happy to report my toilet now now longer trickles water and hisses. But its also now stuck fast, about 5 inches off centre in the office. :-/
Good times.
-
I had an incident with some porcelain recently too, though without any loss of blood. I was in the shower and I dropped the soap, so I bent down to pick it up. As I came up, I had a collision between head and soap-holder. I shattered the soap holder, but luckily I wasn’t injured. All I ended up with was a small bump on the back of my head. :/
-
Damn, I was hoping that soap drop story would go elsewhere. Perhaps equally as painful 😉
-
I had a similar experience when I was younger. Teaches you careful with the soap and is a much less costly lesson then should you learn it in prison as Qumulys has already suggested (possibly experienced?)
-
-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
-
Murphy’s Law strikes again!
-
***standing ovation***
Onto other things! I’m hopeless at remembering my passwords, I have about 5 different ones I use at various places. I have no idea what my PSN password is, and if the network is down is there any way I can find out which one I used? Just want to know which websites I’ll need to change it on.
-
I use the same password for everything!
I’m so clever.-
Wait, don’t tell me, let me guess, your password is Bish01 amiright? 😀
-
No man, you are way off.
Bish05
(Please don’t try it, I think it might actually work on some places)
-
-
TAY feels wierd. There is a distinct lack of Chuloopa.
I wonder where he’s been?
-
I know… I’ve missed him : (
He hasn’t been around since the wrestling video competition… -
Yea though I walk through the valley of no internet connection,
TAY will not be forgotten: For thou art with me(in spirit)(just my translation of the events leading up to Chuloopa’s recent disappearance…)
-
I would imagine a combination of work, study and no internet makes Chuloopa absent. But you’re right, it does feel weird without him. He definitely livens up the party.
I’m almost happy for him to stay away a bit longer though, just until the image of his wrestling video has faded so I don’t see his bare chest in my mind’s eye every time I see his name. 😛 -
He’s been down here in Adelaide over the break…Not that I saw him 🙁
One of the challenges for my Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY competition is to find real-life lookalikes for video game characters. I’ve already posted 3 obvious ones on Twitter.
If you guys can come up with anything creative, please let me steal your idea! 😛
-
Here’s one I found just this morning!
http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2009/06/05/epic-scottish-rapper-looks-just-like-half-life-2s-father-grigori/ -
Sean Connery and Dr Breen (from HL2)? Except I guess Dr Breen has a bit more hair up top.
Constipated Max Payne and Johnny Knoxville?
Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken as… one of the Snakes from MGS. I don’t know, between MGS1, 4 and Peace Walker, I got crazy confused, but I am pretty sure one of them has an eye patch at one point.-
Oh! Nathan Fillion as Nathan Fillion’s character in Halo 3 ODST, hurrrr.
Also maybe Nolan North as [insert one of the ten billion characters he plays here]. Dude’s even in Portal 2. Surely he vaguely resembles at least one of the characters he plays.
Oh and that other guy from Desperate Housewives that looks like Nathan Drake, like when you google image search Uncharted: Wisteria Lane.
-
-
Obvious one:
Stalin = Mario-
Also:
Hugh Laurie = Gordon Freeman
Although it seems I’m a little slow and everyone has already thought of these two.
-
-
You forgot Hugh Laurie = Gordon Freeman.
Faith from Mirror’s Edge and Jade from Beyond Good and Evil are two female characters that stand out as having potential lookalikes (although I’ll be damned if I can think of any without resorting to an “all Asians look the same” joke).
-
Here’s a bit of an obvious one.. Gordon Ramsey.. looks like Gordon Ramsey in the Hells Kitchen Game!!! :0 Whoda thunk it?!
-
Does it have to be famous people who are video game look-a-likes or are regular joes okay?
I finished Portal 2 again last night and it took a significantly shorter amount of time. Sure, I was expecting it to be a bit shorter seeing as I knew all the solutions, but the main time consumer was me actually stopping and listening to the dialogue.
The only really difficult part was getting the last monitor for the Smash TV achievement/trophy. That was a pain. I know that trophies earned transfer over as Steam achievements, but I don’t know if that goes both ways. I hope it does, because I don’t particularly want to do Smash TV again.
-
Valve already confirmed that Steam Achievements wouldn’t carry over to the PS3 🙁 Sorry. On the bright side, you get more playtime out of the game.
-
Dang.
Guess I’ve got some work to do when PSN comes back.
-
I started earning Trophies them last night but I’m not sure if they’ll sync up after the PSN is back on if I need to be logged in to Steam as I earn them
-
There’s a handful of trophies/achievements that I’ve earned on one platform and not the other. I think I’ll wait until things are back as they should be before trying to earn the rest, just to make sure that I get them all on both platforms.
I have three single player achievements left (Overclocker, Pit Boss and Door Prize) plus a decent chunk of the co-op ones (including You Saved Science, which is annoying because I’ve beaten the co-op dammit… I just did half on the PS3 and half on Steam).
This will be my first platinum trophy dammit.
-
-
-
Okay guys! Looks like my CC details were had by the PSN hackers. Massive amounts of comics, anime, manga and video games have been purchased online and sent to an undisclosed location. DAMN YOU HACKERS!
So, I get all that money back, right? :3
-
They managed to buy a Kindle, forgot to change the delivery address and then backdate the order so that it arrived on my doorstep the day that PSN went down.
Those devious bastards!
-
Yeah…me tooo. And I don’t even have a PS3…
Also, all these gifts have arrived… -
This “undsiclosed location” didn’t happen to be your house, was it? 😛
-
Due to the nature of this case I am unable to disclose the location of the undisclosed location.
No more questions.
I have to go home and open some completely unrelated mail. The location of which, is undisclosed.
-
So I finally finished making a game! (Yay!)
No, not the little platformer. (Boo!)
But it’s still a cool game! (Yay!)
It’s called Asteroid Evaders, and you can play it here http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/arcade/asteroid-evaders/5077/ (ooooh!)
And Mark, if you ever need a lunchtime waster, you can use this game. (Yay!)
-
Awesome, Lambo. I’m on teh applez at the moment, I’ll give it a go when I get home
-
That’s really cool!
Make the health thingos less potent (to make the game more of a challenge) and then it should be perfect! 😀
-
Right now you start with 100 health, the big asteroids deplete ten of your health, the small asteroids deplete 5 of you health, and the health pickups give you ten health.
When you get further along in the game and it gets real hectic you kinda need ten health per pickup, but maybe what I’ll do is have the the health pickups give you 5 health when you start and later on it will start giving you ten. Or I could just make it always give you 5 health.-
Heh, screw that idea, I’m just gonna stick the health pickup value to 5, it definately makes the game more fun 😀
-
-
okay, so i leave for malaysia for a week and a half and when i come back PSN is down the shitter?
on a brighter note, i bought a shit load of anime over there, so i’ll watch that instead of playing ps3 😛
-
The PSN thing is all Mark’s fault, I think he just did it to get on TV 😛
I think he has everyone’s credit card details now though…
Ahhh, making that post in “Tell Us Dammit!” kinda cheered me up talking about such a subject, thanks for bringing the question up for discussion Mark 🙂
http://www.gifsoup.com/view6/2409430/serrels-o.gif
That is all.
-
lolol!
-
Also when you mentioned xbox being sneaky about free service, she sounded distinctly like my girlfriend pretending she’s interested in me talking about video games. Just saying…
-
I said this to qumulys earlier, but he looked like a kid in the principles office :0 Trying so hard to be on his best behaviour!
-
I know right! What was with the closed eyes during the questions? Methinks it was looking down at notes…
-
Maybe palm cards next time?
-
Also, that reporter was completely emotionless. It’s pretty hard to thrive when the person you’re talking to shows absolutely no interest in the subject at hand.
-
Yeah like I said, my girlfriend and video game conversations.
-
-
-
Love that gif!
(I heard a loud TV car ad voice saying that line..
ugh too much repetitive TV ads!!)
So wanna use that in forums “Our fearless leader of Kotaku… look at that epic rotation! Where is your god now?!”
-
It would be perfect as the “Ask Me Stuff” pic.
Apparently we’ll be able to set custom pics for things like “Ask Me Stuff” in the new Kotaku AU website (If I understood correctly, correct me if I’m wrong please Mark)
LOL!
I’m sorry Mark, but it’s just too funny. That needs to be the headline image for next week’s Ask Me Stuff. But we’re laughing with you, I promise!
Seriously though, we’re all poking fun but congratulations on putting yourself out there on TV like that and giving intelligible answers. You did far better than most of us would have in the same situation!!
-
Hahaha! I’m totally cool with it. When I showed my wife she literally – and I mean literally – rolling on the floor laughing.
-
Scottish colloquialisms used in the context of internet fraud “whoopsy daisy we gave out all your credit card info” GOLD!!!!
-
Alright, this one was especially animated for this special occassion of comedy: http://kramsdesign.com/misc/kotaku/serrels-stare.gif
This one too from above: http://kramsdesign.com/misc/kotaku/serrels-stare.jpg
-
Bahahahah! Awesome!
-
Tehehehe 😀
I love your drawings!-
Merci!
-
-
You are a legend. When the time comes to document the historic rise of Serrels and the Kotaku Army, you shall be the visual architect.
-
Haha, I like the sound of this…
-
NO NO NO!
More Speed LINES!!!-
OOOHHHHH YEEEAAAHH!!
-
I meant lines drawn in the picture giving the impression of fast motion…
-
Course you did 😉
-
-
-
Oh man, I made the mistake of looking at this at work, I laughed so hard I had people from other rooms come in to stare at me.
I am now being constantly scrutinised by the boss, so much so that this message took about 10 minutes to write, as I could only type a couple of words at a time between death stares.
Totally worth it.
-
Lucky for you he didn’t do a Barbarian version!
And thanks, Sughly. You always make me chuckle when I need it most.
Am I the only person to not enjoy playing Minecraft on singleplayer? : ( I have an irrational fear of dealing with creepers, zombies and skeletals by myself..,
-
Yeah Single Player kind of gets jaded after a while. Just focus on making a safe haven if you don’t want to be reckless and look for trouble, that’s what I’ve done. I’ve made a small incomplete fort, walled off except for the deeper water area, and inside I’ve got grass, a farm, and a mine digging down to the center of the earth. After it’s all done, then I’ll venture out and conquer evil… after I make a lava moat as well xD
-
Looks like someone forgot to wear their leather cap 😛
-
set the difficulty to “peaceful” 😉
-
You’re not alone – I’ve been too scared to even try it. It also scared the hell out of me the first time I went on the Minecraft server and found that mobs had been enabled (and 5 seconds later I was blown to smithereens).
What can I say, I’m just a wimp. I like games where I build castles and stuff, or where I get to kill stuff, but I don’t like combining the two!
-
Take refuge on my boat!
I’ll make traps and help defend your work site and stuff too if you want.-
Qumulys managed to blow up the sea level entrance to my tower so water isn’t completely safe. Fortunately he fixed it up good as new (well expect he forgot the touches bit I didn’t even realise that until nigh time)
-
-
-
just play on peaceful when in caves if you get scared. Thats what i do before i get swords and whatnot.
-
Yeah I played it single player for about 15 mins before getting bored.
What is the point in building great works if there is no-one else around to appreciate it? It just seems empty without other people.
“I could build a big castle!” All for me… by myself… all alone… until the creepers come… -
Minecraft excels at being a social game just because you can show your stuff off. It could be a giant logo. Or the a Tie Fighter. Or a giant glass dome. Or a really deep hole. Doesn’t matter what it is, because chances are you died several times whilst digging that damned hole, and it has your blood, sweat and tears, and that’s something to be proud of.
Except in Singleplayer, you have no one to show things off to, and no one to praise you for digging that dirt out, real good like. It feels hollow, and empty, so you try befriend a creeper, but then it blows up in your face, and you will always be forever alone.
Although to be honest, experiencing your first night with monsters enabled in a world is something everyone should do. Dig a hole, throw down a torch, jump in and seal it back up, whimpering at every unnatural noise outside. It is an experience.
It seems as though Lego Pirates of the Caribbean The Video Game has stolen some ideas from Minecraft http://videogames.lego.com/en-US/LEGOPiratesOfTheCaribbeanTheVideoGame/AboutTheGame/Screenshots/Mixed_290828.aspx#Mixed_290828
-
I wish they did the classic Lego pirates from when I was young. The ones who did all the same stuff as these guys …
Actually most of Carribean seems to have gotten it’s ideas from Lego Pirates.
-
The little Lego monkeys from the pirate sets were awesome.
-
-
BAHAHAHAH! Never thought of it that way XD
-
25 cents just doesn’t buy what it used to.
-
HA!
-
Yup, that’ll do it.
-
Hehe..
It’s funny, cos it’s true 🙂 -
OH MAN!
That is GOOOOOLD!
When commenting on Kotaku, I now see this Our Facebook commenting feature has been temporarily disabled.
Heh, good riddance 😛
My contribution to the new meme. I hope you don’t mind TadMod, but I used your gif for it
http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb449/lamboman007/awkward.gif
Hahahaa, my husband’s just come home and said “So. the editor from Kotaku is King of the Swivel Stare now, huh?”
-
Wait, he’s been stalking TAY?? O.o
-
Seconded. Some might call this… STRANGE behaviour. Hyuk, hyuk…
-
Hahaha, no. He knows I hang out here often (oh, okay all the time) so he made sure when I told him about Sir Serrels being on ABC yesterday that he watched it. I <3 my husband. 🙂
-
-
Swivel-Stare Serrels!
That’s a gunslinger’s name if ever I heard one!
Okay, I’ve updated my Asteroid Evaders game. Health pickups are now half as potent, which makes the game more challenging and more fun 😀
You can play it from here: http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/arcade/asteroid-evaders/5077/
If you play, would you mind rating it on the gamejolt website? Thanks 😀
Oh, and a note to all you mac users, unfortunately it’s only for Windows, not for mac, sorry 🙁
The intelligence of those people posting on the MK reader review, saying that they’ve gotten the game just mows my blind. Seriously, you people! Everyone can see your names! And your facebook accounts!…!…!…!
-
The two most common elements in the universe.
Hydrogen and Human Stupidity. -
Well, possession of RC content is not illegal in most states. Once you have your copy, it’s safe. The only issue is waiting for it to get through customs and I honestly doubt they’re going to comb through any DVD sized packages to see if the names match those leaving comments.
-
But… from my understanding of the whole L4D2 importing business when it was RC’d initially, it’s not actually illegal to own an RC game (except in WA or NT or somewhere crazy).
Customs can seize it, and fine you, but although some people have had their copies seized (I’ve never had a parcel opened by customs m’self, ever), all they get is a letter going “we seized ur game”, never have I read of anyone getting a fine.
It is, however, illegal to sell, so if any of these guys in the MK reader review thread said something like how they got their copy from a independent games store in Sydney, that store would be in big trouble.
Mind you, this is just me having read up on all these things back when, so maybe some things are inaccurate or have changed. -
I’m just so glad that “Blind Mown” has caught on. I consider it one of my crowning achievements!
OT: But yeah… some people didn’t think ti all the way through… xD
Time for some shameless self-promotion.
Happy (belated) Chocolate Bunny Day.
Also, my capture card arrived today. Now to get my PC back up and running and things may become somewhat interesting.
-
I loled.
Also, I like your art style. Will have to go beack and read the comic from the begining… When my boss isn’t looking.
-
I’ll let Carlos know that more people enjoy his scribblings. I just do the words, he does the pretty parts :p
-
ahah, I see. Then tell Carlos. I’m sure the words are equally good. Or even more gooder. I’ll tell you when I read it.
-
-
-
THATS A WIN!
-
“That’s a paddlin’”
-
“Paddlin’ the school canoe? Oh, you better believe that’s a paddlin’”
-
-
Testing?
I think Kotaku is eating my comments. Never thought I’d miss the Facebook commenting feature…
Hey Mark, you call that one your posted earlier a meme!?
Try this one! Tell me what you think 🙂 made it myself
http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww7/drag0nman/Serrelsmeme.jpg
-
WIN!
-
LOLOL!
Ah apparently I’ve already said this before so uh…. got to add something else… *dances a jig*
new ask me stuff picture?
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/4701/indexm.png
i actually think he looks rather nice in it 😛
-
That stare… it can reach all the way into your soul! You don’t need to ask questions. with a stare like that, he’ll know what you ask before you even speak!
-
WIN NO.2!
-
errrrrrrr, 3.
-
-
LOL! I love it.
I especially like that deep and meaningful stare. /shudders
-
Hahaha! Ah geez, this is the joke that just keeps on giving. So good…
-
Brilliant!
Well at least the stupendously over-publicised royal wedding is useful for something…
‘$5 off when you spend $30 at http://www.ozgameshop.com – use code WILLSANDKATE’.
-
thanks, was going to post this…
-
I think I may finally purchase DKCR.
Is it any good? Any DKC2 fans out there other than me?
-
Well worth it! Reaaaally good fun. I dont actually remember DKC2 specifics all that well (except that damn flying parrot through bees stage near the end, gah!), but DKCR is seriously all kinds of awesome. Get it!
-
Get DKCR. Excellent game. Which I should really get around to finishing… That shall be my weekend quest!
In preparation for DKCR, HindenLagen made me play through the original DKC, followed by DKC2, at his place. We only got halfway through DKC2, though 🙁
-
Only HALF? ANd no 3? I am dissapoint!
Is it very similar?
-
I am also disappoint. There are differences, but it’s similar enough that it’s damn fun to play through. Can’t really say much more than that, due to my lack of intimate familiarity with both games. Hinden loved it, though, so there’s a fair chance you would also.
-
What about replayability?
Many hidden bonus rooms or something similar?
-
One of the few Wii games i enjoy…
-
Enjoy…replaying?
-
Err..that would require finishing it.
Not my copy 🙁
Seems you’ve been sold anyway 🙂 -
I like you…
-
-
-
-
There seems to be a fair few secret type areas so far, designed around collecting puzzle pieces. Then there’s a speed run mode, and a ‘mirror’ mode.
Description of mirror mode looted from GameFAQs
Beat every “-K” level (get K O N G on every level in a world) and beat the game. When you do, a golden temple will show up on the world map. Beat the level there and you’ll unlock “Mirror mode,” a very difficult way to play through each level, in which Diddy can’t be used, you only get one life, the level is reversed, and you can’t use items.
-
Now that is what every game should have!
I there! SOLD SOLD SOLD!!!
So Operation flashpoint arrived last night, along with my WWE prize btw…
If anyone is looking for some co op OF:RR let me know. Keen to start this over the weekend now that I have finished BFBC2.
-
Geez! You’re lucky getting your prize so quick! I’m still waiting on my kudos prize and dead rising 2 stuff! Mr Serrels said he was gonna send them out last week!!
-
They are all sent from the distributors so Mark is the middle man in all this…
Mine came direct from THQ so that would explain the discrepancy on a prize by prize basis…
-
Anyone excited about the Royal Wedding?
-
the Prince
-
Heh
-
So true.
-
-
No, I try to avoid everything that inexplicably is front page material when there is much worse going on inside the newspaper.
Seriously, hate the media with a passion. That and I quit watching TV about four years ago 😛
-
So… You’re saying there should only be bad things on the front page?
-
I just think it’s all a bit overboard for something I think is not THAT big, that’s all. Not implying that at all
-
I agree with you. The media are really whoring it up.
I just thought the comment “when there is much worse going on inside” was interesting. -
Force of habit, living in Melbourne, I’m probably just not used to seeing good news on the front page of it 😛
That and my faith in humanity is pretty much… well none lol
-
Perhaps you just enjoy humanity’s suffering, and the only good news will be re. the success of the robot apocalypse…
-
-
-
Couldn’t give a brass razoo. In fact, due to not knowing what one is, nor having ever seen a brass razoo, I think I’d be inclined to keep it as a conversation piece.
I’m not not excited!
I’ll agree that the level of coverage is freakin’ ridiculous (have you watched morning TV recently? I was subjected to it for the past few days and they’re all going totally insane), but at least it’s a pleasant thing for once. It seems that all the big news events in recent years have been horrible events e.g. earthquakes, influential people dying, terrorism, etc.
That said, they really should dial it down a notch and I’ll be happy to see it over and done with.
****COMPETITION****
This competition is only open to Kotaku ‘regulars’ as this prize includes access to the exclusive (sort of) Kotaku Minecraft Server.. It also includes a FREE copy of the multimillion selling Indie Hit Minecraft!
Competition details:
Competition closes 6/5/2011. Winner to be announced the following Monday. To see the detailed terms and conditions, please read the prior sentence.
To Win:
A wise man once pondered “What do cows do when they have an itchy bladder?”. He then realised that the bladder would likely be internal and changed the question to udder. The fact remains that with no opposable thumbs and, let’s be honest, pretty crappy elbows, that cows would not be able to scratch that particular itch….
So to help our Bovine friends, you must invent a device/contraption that would assist a cow in scratching an udder itch and, using Photoshop or similar (Paint is acceptable) provide an image of your invention. Please include as much detail as required to detail the particulars of the device. Extra points are awarded for also making udderly ridiculous jokes!
To be eligible, you must send the e-mail of your image to claimsboy at hotmail dot com but make sure you post here also. I will bump this next week.
Good luck
(This competition is brought to you by the Kotaku Minecraft server, in association with Q-bo’s twisted twitter feed @Qumulys)
-
Also I am more than happy to share my e-mail address online as this was the one attached to my PSN account… so not like I have to worry about it getting into the wrong hands anymore!
-
Just to be clear, I hadn’t finished my coffee yet :-/
I want to see a rotating Serrels with a velcro hat under a cow. Someone, make it so!
-
-
OMG! I shall now spend the rest of the day pondering this. I wasted about 20 minutes trying to set up Minecraft when I realised my error. I mean, how was I supposed to know you’re supposed to pay for it?
I’d just like to shout out a thank you to Jamie What What in the Butt (LAWL jokez) and AmbroseIV’s sister in helping me figure out my problem.
-
Thanks for the shout out… I think. 😛
Feel privelaged also as you were the first person to ever chat with me on Steam.
-
I am indeed honoured.
-
-
Love the new title!
-
Your approval makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, oh creative one. The only problem now is that I cbf typing out the whole damn thing each day…
-
You keep changing puteners?
My seems to save at work and at home… -
Work ‘puter gets wiped every day!
-
-
-
-
Also, you should go by Ser-Eats-A-Lot. It’s closer to your original handle and, in Dragon Age, even ladies can be ‘Ser’.
Sounds good but I will dip out cos I will be a never there friend and it will be a waste.
I’ve got some good ideas all ready 😀
I’m just going to enter because I can, If I win, I’ll donate the prize to Sergeant Eats-a-Lot. She needs it more than I do 😀
-
Awesome! If I can contribute in anyway, just hit me up!
-
I didn’t mean to reply here! /facepalm
-
Having spent a few years on a dairy farm… do I get bonus points for posting the actual answer?
-
Only if the actual answer is funnier than the made up ones.. which i doubt. I think truth in a situation like this will be a Buzz Killington moment!
Perhaps save it til the end mate…
I CAN DANCE ALL DAY I CAN DANCE ALL DAY
-
I like you!
-
Agreed. You can stay.
-
Thirded. But I wanna know who Mr/MS McTricep really is. I have a sneaking suspicion they’ve been hiding under their real name via facebook….
-
-
Just wanted to give out a thousand thumbs up for all the Serrels meme pics/animations! They were all great!
Also, lambo, cool game!!!! Seems your skills are gaining momentum, well done sir!
-
Also – sorry I wasn’t in on all the shit – love the pics/gifs.
Yesterday was crazy with all the R8+ stuff.
-
No link and a swears! Is this the REAL Mark…?
-
Do you really think our intrepid Overlord would allow someone to impersonate Him?
-
That all depends… are you the REAL Cracks? how can I know any of you are really you?! ARGH!!
-
Ask me something only the real me would know the answer to!
-
The meaning of your name. You know that story about Mario Party? Yeah, that one!
-
-
-
Yeah, lets get those grade 2 kids into GTA! 😛
-
See below. great minds…. great minds…..
Yeah man. I fully support that movement. If a kid has not turned 8 years old, then he should not be able to get adult content. 7 year olds are just not mature enough!
Everyone support the R8+ rating for Australia!!!
Take that ACL!
(btw if you edit that to make me look bad i will be pissed off and tell everyone you abuse your powers and the new kid starting on Monday will mess up your desk)
-
If he doesn’t edit that to make you look bad I’ll be upset. Because he edits stuff to make me look bad all the time. Well okay, he did it just that one time. 😛
-
😛
Thanks! 😀 Also, thanks TadMod for suggesting I make the health pickups less potent!
My next project will be Kotaku Kred Kredemption(unless someone else has already started making it) 😀
-
Hey, I clicked reply to the wrong post before so I’ll reply again.
Awesome! If I can contribute in anyway, just hit me up!
-
Well now we know…
-
and knowing is half the battle
-
GEEEEEE IIIIIIII JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEE!!!
-
-
This is stuck in my head now.
-
Gotta love Mitchell & Webb!
-
Apparently. I hear it’s law. The attourney generals made it so at the last meeting. That’s why they didn’t have enough time to talk about R18 or R8.
-
-
-
-
Jimu, every link you give has ‘comic’ in their domain name. Just sayin…
-
I like two things. One is games.
-
Is the other one me?
-
OK 3 things
“What bout me?”
OK 4 things.
“What about your family?”
OK, I like FEW things…
-
-
-
You say that like it’s a bad thing…Mr All My Links are to my awesome pics and highly anticipated game!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
-
Wow… Political correctness, I thought that stupid craze had died in the arse (sorry, human posterior), but it seems you are all no longer able to call your pets, your pets.
http://web.orange.co.uk/article/quirkies/Calling_animals_pets_deemed_insulting
-
They took a page out of Neverwinter Nights, pets in that game are called “Animal Companions”, dunno if D&D did that too but yeah, I still chuckled after reading about that.
Does that mean I can get a wolf?! Or a panther?! xD
So Facebook is disabled – I don’t mind cuz I initially used it out of laziness and then later on I wanted to use a handle instead and it became impossible so it’s cool (aka Jason Oliver)
I’ve taken a break from Portal 2 in order to finish Assassin’s Creed (the first one) so I’d have something else to trade at this GAME $1 thing (already picked up SC: Conviction which is cool) and I gotta say – what a game.
Reviewers really seemed to hate on AC1 because of the lack of variety (it is essentially the same mission 9 times) but I really enjoyed free running all over buildings taking out unsuspecting guards, starting fights with guards in the street (as soon as you learn to counter and parry moves, the sword fighting goes from “constant death” to “incredibly cool”)
The last mission in Jerusalem is fantastic and the whole resolution of Altair’s story was worth the price of admission I reckon.
Also the way the game sort of leaves you in Abstergo to roam around and read everyone’s emails after the credits is kinda creepy.
Plus it feels good to knock another game off the pile of shame 😀
-
One of my favourite parts of the original Assassin’s Creed was running(or riding) around exploring all the places in between the cities where the missions were. I missed that in the second one.
Also, I’m liking how with Facebook disabled more people seem to be talking.
-
Cuz they fear they will fall into the same trap that you once did and many others. My human name, barely any will ever know 😛
-
-
I loved the first AC, it was so innovative in the way it handled the open world and the storyline was really interesting, even if it was repetitive.
I’m guessing you’ve played AC2 and ACB? If not, pick ’em up ASAP. They’re both amazing games. They take the story of AC, make it even crazier and more secretive, then add much better gameplay and less linear missions.
So I just read up on the new TV rights deal for the AFL.
Four live matches every week on free-to-air TV in Queensland? All Brisbane and Gold Coast matches shown? Friday night footy not on at 11:45pm?
So this is what it feels like to not be screwed over.
-
GO DOCKERS!
Friday TAY spam.
I loled
http://i55.tinypic.com/fwodgw.gif
-
What did I just watch….? 😐
Ha, jk, I indeed lol’d. 🙂 -
Right click. Save as…
-
Noice!
So if you follow gameloft on twitter, you’ll probably know by now that they’re having an iPad comp again. All you have to do is create a StarFront Collision themed profile pic for them, and the pic with the most votes wins. So I’ve entered it.:D
All of you with Facebook, would you be able to vote for it? Please? It’s currently picture number 8 and it’s done by “Braycen Jackwitz” (Me).
I have high hopes of winning, seeing as though of all the 10 entries, only three are actually eligible :/
Oh and for those who are facebook-less this is what my entry looks like http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb449/lamboman007/starfrontcollision.jpg
-
You should do a fake entry with Star Fox…
My dog rolled in poo this morning. I had to wash the poo off of her with my bare hands whilst giving her a bath outside, where halfway through, it then started to rain.
Two people who are completely irrelevant to my life getting married may be the highlight of my day.
-
Here what I had to do with one of my dogs in Scotland.
She had eaten too much grass. Her shit was like a fricked tangled rope of grass. It got stuck… in her ass. I had to rope the shit… out of her ass.
Good times.
-
2nd morning coffee ruined. RUINED!
-
Don’t ever have kids guys, I had to pull an undigested bean out of my son’s butthole once….
-
You win. For the love of GOD. You win.
-
/o\
I regret bringing this up. -
That is so goddamned hilarious!
-
-
I got two!
The mates cat ate too much human hair and it plugged up it’s kitty butthole so it was running around the house “stamping” kitty butthole kisses with it’s poo on various items, tabletops etc.
And this morning while I was trying to get my son’s warm jacket on, his nappy(which I badly put on him 10seconds after waking) slipped down to his feet as he began to piss all over my pants!
Good times!
-
When my favourite t-shirts get ratty, I ‘retire’ them in the manliest way possible. It’s what they would’ve wanted.
-
Haha! Ben’s videos are the bestest.
-
That took about 10mins longer than expected…an Incredible Hulk you aint.
-
I was kinda hoping you were going to give it a Viking funeral…but this was still cool 😛
-
This is fantastic advice. I keep all of mine to collect dust and go foosty.
I actually recall attempting to do this as a child. But I didn’t use an old shirt. I was just trying to be Hulk Hogan and I had to use sissors to get the rip started. My mum was NOT pleased.
-
Mark, please, for my sake, stop doing this. You’re making me question everything I ever thought about myself. I didn’t think there could be bro-love towards an editor, but there it is. So, please, stop being such an epitome of MAN, or I may have to leave this community forever, for all our sakes.
-
So second vid of mark’s rippling man chest… You trying to be Chuloopa??
I think Mark really wants to be a meme…. 😉
All right, time to try something else for getting Mark’s attention…Vogon Poetry! 😀
Oh freddled Serrelsbuggly,
Thy lunchtime wasters are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits
On a lurgid bee
Now the jurpling lamboman 007crustles
Have made a game on the axlegrurts
And living glupules of Asteroid Evasion
Like jowling meated liverslime
Groop, I implore thee, my game is really worthy
To hooptiously drangle me
With crinkly lunchtime waster famewurdles,
Or else I shall rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon
See if I don’t.
😛
-
That wasn’t so bad…
At least it wasn’t a poem by Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Sussex.
-
Or Grunthos the Flatulent.
-
So I’m slowly making my way through the thousands of graphics novels that have been produced to lower than half price on fishpond.
Didn’t realise there was so much manga porn available at such affordable prices.
I must say Kung Fu Sex warriors looks like a real classy joint!
-
http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Bazongas-2-Kovik-Kovik-By-artist/9781560975823
And this…possibly NSFW…
-
How could something named ‘Bazongas’ get a sequel‽
-
How could it NOT!?
-
-
-
I don’t know if your being serious or not! If you are, shame on you for not posting links!
-
Just go to fishpond and typre sex kung fu or something…
-
Kung Fu Sex Fighters FTW!
-
And there is so MUCH more!

At work. Received this email from Japan:
“Thank you for your information, the contents of which you’re telling is well recognized…I will let you know of my answers once available, say in a couple of days…so please be patient until then…!”
Many chuckles were had.
-
I know too many asians. It just stops being funny after a while…
-
Same here, but I liked this one.
I have to communicate with a lot of Chinese and Indonesian peeps for work, so I’m used to it, but the Japanese have a completely different style.
-
-
aHAHAHHHAHAhaha oh man it never gets old for me.
I recently saw this on a Jap fashion site for a pair of jeans:
‘I am normally not liking this fashion style of denim. But this time F**k it is feeling pleasant fit’
It had it uncensored and all.
-
Ha! That’s awesome.
Kind of makes me want a pair…
-
Sexyyyyy! New 3ds game: http://www.vooks.net/story-20097-Konami-announces-Beyond-the-Labyrinth-on-3DS.html
-
She’s underage, bru!
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not funny >:(
-
Just caus you got peed on.
-
Sexyyyyy!
-
I was laughing my head off. Thought the pissing was an ‘ilarious start to the day!
-
-
-
-
This may just be the game to help convince me a 3DS is worth it.
-
Seconded
-
Thirded
-
Fourthded
-
-
-
-
Wow. This looks freaking amazing! I knew the 3DS could show off shiny graphics over the regular DS, but this is almost unbelieveable.
Hey Mark, why hasn’t this appeared on Kotaku yet??
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/04/new-transformers-3-trailer-whys-optimus-prime-so-angry/
-
Cause it’s a movie.
-
You have something against movies? 😛
I never realised that Kotaku didn’t deal with cool movies. Although I might have, my minds currently a bit destroyed from an assignment I just finished…-
I think it was less about movie hate and more about what should be on Kotaku…
-
-
And also because Michael Bay is the antichrist?
-
I’d like to point out that when I posted my comment below, yours hadn’t appeared, so I was referencing previous hate, not this, objectively justified hate (yes, objectively, the opinion of anyone who likes those films is WRONG. Opinion = wrong. Blagh = Troll).

Considering he is Jewish, and they are pretty Anti-Christ. xD
(For those of you who would like to spring at the chance of saying your favourite words “Anti-Semetism”, realise first that I’m making a joke on the fact that Jesus Christ is not considered the son of God in Judaism and not in fact insulting anyone.)
BUt I digress from the OT:
I don’t mind Michael Bay’s movies. Sure, they aren’t exactly literary masterpieces or tour de forces, but they are entertaining and visually stunning. I’m actually quite looking forward to this film 🙂-
I endorse this comment wholeheartedly.
-
Same, when see it, I won’t be expecting a brilliant story, I just wanna see stuff transform and blow up 😀
But I will be expecting a brilliant story in the hobbit films
-
-
As someone who grew up with G1 Transformers in the 80s, the Bay movies are like having sand kicked your face. Bumblebee is now some gargantuan mute monstrosity, Megatron has a british accent (as does Ironhide??) and very little of Starscream’s character has survived to the movies. Not to mention Spike & Sparkplug have been replaced by Shia LeButtHead & his weak-ass comedic relief dad.
-
-
Stop it! He doesn;t deserve it. Leave the anti-christ alone!

-
*couch* suckerpunchtronmasseffectunchartedbioshockhalo *cough*
-
We haven’t thought alike in a while, but i think this sums it up perfectly!
-
Because Michael Bay is devil spawn, who has less idea of how to make a movie than I do, and wouldn’t understand the meaning of “framing a shot” if it punched him in the balls.
*cough* See Sughly, look, I can hate on movie things too!
-
Michael BaySplosions!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AR23f08yBAAlso, my ringtone is now The Touch by Stan Bush.
-
Good man. I can’t remember what my ringtone is atm, but my old one was The Doctor Who theme, which had the problem that I wouldn’t pick up just so I could listen to it…
-
Rockin’ ringtone!
Mine used to be the Transformers Theme by Lion.
Now it’s Wasted Years by Iron Maiden – Not necessarily my favourite Maiden track, but it has an awesome intro.
-
-
Haha, I’m so proud!!
Such a cutely cool Link! http://roguetwo.deviantart.com/art/Spinner-206739293

Dood, he’s underage! I mean
Coolpic!
Just got this as a spam comment on my website – “Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection.”
Funny stuff.

Just getting the last wurd in…
Nohandle specific message..
So happy that you saw my message on the earlier pages and that you can make the RA show. Im going the night before in Sydney (May 5). Going by myself like a sad hip hop fan but I can’t resist. Just because my friends have no taste or desire to experience new things, wont stop me!
I have been listening to RA for a while now but have never heard of Murs nor 9th wonder.
It turns out that Murs has a few cool songs up on YT and I am really looking forward to hearing more. As for 9th wonder, he is a super producer and perhaps more impressive is that he gives hip hop lectures at Duke University.
There is an AWESOME discussion on youtube that is 1 and a half hours long where three dudes, all academics discuss the cultural significance of Nas’ first album Illmatic!!!
As a fan of the genre for over 20 years (im 29 now) It was so refreshing to hear a really intelligent discussion about hip hop. I only watched the first half hour, but as I started watching at 1am on a school night, it must have been good.
-
Fatshady specific reply
Dude, if i was a bit better financially i would be there with you in a second!!!!
I’ve alway known bout RA ( mainly the song with Biggie i can’t write here, look it up!)but have only been listening a bit more since you mentioned.
Murs and 9th were real indie darlings for a while there, but hipsters can be so fickle 🙂
I first heard 9th on Jay-Z “Threats” ( one of my all time fav tracks),has done some good collabos with Murs,Buckshot and Pete Rock. His remixes of Godson and the Black albums are awesome!! Can unlock him in NBA JAM too.
Only the truly ignorant really bag hip hop. Coming up on 30 years of music and culture, it have more than enough cultural significance and impact to shoot down the normal “bitch,ho,drugs n guns” arguments.
LOL! On the Gizmodo Headlines banner up top, I read ‘NSW Teachers Can Now Tweet Their Students’ as ‘NSFW Teachers etc’.
-
I seriously have no idea what everyone has against it. I think it’s really catchy, and am glad that she’s not singing about alcohol, drugs and sex. She’s 13, everyone should loosen up.
-
My only beef is with the pedo rapper rhyming ‘lanes’ with ‘lanes’.
-
Actually, yeah. He’s the biggest downfall of that song. Pedo-rapper is a suitable name, actually…
-
The rapper is a pedo alright he is talking about looking at the kids in the school bus but its night time. But the best part of the clip is when the rapper is dancing in his car from side to side. Its so classic
-
I believe there is a Black Eyed Peas song that rhymes “ecstasy” with “next to me” and “ecstasy”.
The fact that I know this fills me with profound sadness.
-
-
My hatred stems from having a sister who is an extreme muso, and so I have a love for what is known as “music.” I understand that people have different taste, in the same way that I understand that Cannibal Corpse is only music in the same way that the dying sounds of a cat are. I have a love for good singing, intelligent lyrical play, and an underlying musical theme, written by someone with basic understanding of musical form.
In my opinion, this song lacks all of them.
I think a good song could be made out of this, but that it is simply an irritating song.
-
I find Cannibal Corpse’s content hard to stomach, but dudes can PLAY!! Half of them clasically trained….
Or was this just your opinion?
No trolling, but i though you liked metal? I’m always having to defend my fondness of metal to all my hip hop head friends, yet all of my metal friends are quite open minded…-
I like metal, but I tend to go for the more old school or more obviously jazz influenced stuff. I was pretty much just trolling, which I do a lot of over Subjective v. Objective matters. I like bands like Iron Maiden or Megadeth; Mellow death like Arch Enemy, or, umm, I’m having a mental blank here… That style of thing…
Anyway, I just don’t find Cannibal Corpse at all appealing, and I love to pay them out, because they’re really easy targets. There are far worse bands out there.
-
Thought you might be trolling 🙂
Only reason i asked was becasue i really liked that viking metal song you put up a few months back…
You also seem to have a good “music brain” for a young’n ( well you keep calling me old!), so i guess the muso sister explains that. 🙂 -
I have a weird sense of age, I called someone my own age (well, technically a few months younger than me, but whatever) a “good kid” once, and I call my twenty-one year old sister old. Anyway, thank you for complimenting my ideas of music, since this seems like a perfect chance to shoe-horn it in, I’m seeing Alestorm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta-Z_psXODw) in a few weeks, which should be great.
-
-
-
-
I listen to the dying sounds of a cat over Britney Spears any day!
He’s getting more cunning!
Unfortunately for you I look at the URL on the status bar at the bottom. You have once again lost 😛
-
You know the youtube link off by heart…?
-
Only a robot… [slow head shake]™
-
yeah, the Oppho at the end sounds like awful. easy to remember.
-
Pretty much yeah :). The past has taught me, any youtube vid that’s a Ric-roll or a Bec’roll which was more recent and seems to be the new prank (looking at you Lambo!), memorise the last few characters of the youtube vid and you’ll know to avoid it.
Opph0 = Bec’rolling
WgXcQ = Ric’rollingRemember these well humans, it will save you one day
-
Guys,
If you read books, buy a copy of The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
I just finished it, went out to Borders, bought the sequel, waited for the bus, and started reading.
Definitely the best page-turner I’ve encountered since American Gods (which I hold in high regard, but this book is better IMHO).
Seriously, do yourself a favour and pick up a copy.
-
Better than American Gods you say? I saw this in Dymocks (And the sequel) last week when I was in buying something to read on the train. I picked up The Witches of Chiswick instead.
Also, they were talking about the new one on Penny-Arcade. hmm.. Have to wait till I get my new debit card (Thanks Sony) but, solely upon your recommendation, I shall purchase.
-
Nice 🙂 I think the beard would be a good look….
-
*Bows*
-
All hail Jim(m)u!!
-
Now you need a new handle…how about emperorjimmuusedmyhandle? ;D
-
Naaaaaaaaaahh…
-
-
lolol! Thats awesome! You should rename yourself Jimmu aka Kamuyamato Iwarebiko aka Wakamikenu no Mikoto aka Sano no Mikoto
-
I would but I can’t even be botheres cutting and pasting your words!
-
Sughly, I took a look at your site (namely the Anna’s Room screenshots) and I’m fracking keen.
When are you going to release? Did you end up getting that corporate sponsor?
TELL US MORE, DAMNIT!!!! xD
-
Also, I’m the 100th like on your facebook page. I should probably get some sort of a prize. 😛
-
My facebook page is sadly quite baron 🙁
I should reaaaaally update it with more stuff, but I was charging in full steam with showing screens and stuff before and I started to realise I should save some for the actual game XD
-
I befriended you under my civillian name!
-
Everyone else was talking about your FB page so I ‘liked’ it too. I’m hoping my friends will do that stickybeak thing where they go “Oh, she liked that? I wonder what that is?” and check you out.
And then maybe you’ll like me enough to meet me and the other Brisbane Kotakuites in real life. 😛
-
I spammed your facebook page, because I wanted to feel like I was part of something cool. :/
-
You guys are awesome! 😀
-
You’re damn right I am!
What?
-
-
-
By the way, my site is barren, not baron. It’s not any form of nobility, unfortunately…
-
i agree i want to play this game . I had a look through your artwork and samples and i really like your art style. It looks a bit like if a storybook was written for adults. thats what i think anyway. I think it’s awesome.
-
Woo! That’s so so cool! Actually, your description is pretty much what I’m trying to go for. Trying is the key word here…
Awww thanks so much guys! That means a lot, seriously. I’m literally working my ass off on it as we speak, and is the reason I’m on kotaku less and less. The developer that contacted me is still interested, they loved the demo I sent! But they want to see what I have at the end of the Masters as well as a design doc for the rest of the story before they go any further, which is understandable. So that’s my current goal!
-
Design doc…OUCH!
That’s what everyone does in my office, talks and writes about what they want to do…with a good 5 drafts before the final! Drives me insane and I’m not even the one doing it!-
Yeaaaah not really looking forward to that bit a great deal, but I’m just gonna fill it with all my sketches and stuff for the rest of the game, make it look pretty 😀
-
Do it in over explained words, that’s what they want. That’s all they ever want.
-
-
FATSHADY
Just bought Backbreaker for $21 🙂
It had to happen eventually…
Evryone else.. got Metro 2033 on 360 for just $13.50… 😀
So yes, i’m alive and well! Sorry i haven’t been around guys and gals, but it looks like no ones noticed anyway 😛 LOL
So fill me in, whats the latest goss??
I might make a longer post later when i have some more time.
Hugs and kisses
-
Strange missed you.
-
Also, Mark completely creeped out some poor news reader on the ABC.
-
-
YES we’ve noticed your disappearance!
Come back regularly.. don’t be a tease :\-
Nooooo! Oh tease us…….please tease us 🙂
-
‘Sup?
-
Pssssst, this guy’s gonna get some to-night!
-
-
-
not noticed! I think everyone’s missed your antics this week dood! welcome back!!
-
Qbo and I were talking about you.. not nice things.. but you were missed…
-
Also, gotta play BB on the weekend mate online. Do you have XBL gold? if not I dont think anyone has used my 48 hour code so you could try that?
-
Sorry i should add that i ordered it.
So it should be here early next week.ALSO, still have no internet, which is one of many reasons for not being around as much.
Plus i need a bit of practice if i hope to take you on, my boy!
But, you can bet your ass i’ll be taking you on asap 🙂
It’s one of the things i’ve been looking forward to for a while now
-
-
“but it looks like no ones noticed anyway”
You clearly haven’t read the entirety of this weeks TAY, then.
There have been two seperate threads asking about your whereabouts, and several weeping parents repeating “He was a good kid, he didn’t deserve to go this way. Noone deserves to go this way”.So, explain yourself. Where have you been?!
Also, In regards to the latest goss: Serrels is a meme now 😀
-
I just realised how emo i must have sounded saying “looks like no one noticed”
Wow, i can sound liek a dick sometimes lolBut i didn’t see any of that when i quickly scanned through TAY.. lol
I did notice the serrels gif’s though… wtf happened there? it’s hillarious!
As for my whereabouts, long story short, a combo of sick, busy and no internet makes for little to no kotaku time 🙁
-
-
Who’s this guy?
I tried to buy a shirt and the site srapped out on me…TWICE!
-
Really?
Which site, and what happened?I’ve had 2 orders come through via both sites in the past few weeks.. so it must still be working.. i guess…
-
Think I was just unlucky…I will be back…one day.
-
-
-
How was Adelaide??? No email for a beer??
-
I’ll send you an email for a beer, I love free beer!
-
-
Loooooops! Like above said, you were mentioned numerous times. We missed you indeed.
-
Great to have you back! Now I don’t have to pretend to be you! 😛
I admit it: I know nothing. And as an aspiring PS3 owner, I would like to know something.
Someone mentioned earlier that they couldn’t play Demon’s Souls because PSN was down… is it a game that cannot be played offline?
Are there other PS3 titles that, to an untrained observer, appear to be single-player games, but are actually not-so-much?
I am curious. (Unrelated I know, but I thought I would add that)
-
not sure of exact titles, but i read somewhere that several capcom games wont work while it’s down
-
That was me saying I wasn’t playing Demon’s Souls whilst PSN is down.
You can play Demon’s Souls offline. It is a largely single player game, but there is a fairly decent chunk of the experience that comes from the online content (bloodstains, player messages and phantoms). They aren’t necessary, but I like them being there.
-
I have a 360…
-
Like Trjn said, Demon’s Souls is a primarily a single player game but is enhanced by being online. Any PS3 game that requires you be online tells you so on the box. The only PSN games that require you to be online to play are a handful of Capcom ones (as far as I know)
where is the cheapest place to buy portal 2 over the counter for 360 i went to eb games and they wanted $110, any place cheaper.
-
Some Big W stores will price match online stores like ozgameshop ($62). Otherwise, I think the best you can do is somewhere in the ballpark of $90, from pretty much any retailer that isn’t EB.
-
JB Hifi should have the console versions for $89
-
Steam has it for $50. Oh wait, your on xbox 360 (trololol) 😛
Okay, that’s my weekly trolling quota filled…no hard feelings, right guys? Guys? -
gametraders at Parra had it for 79 I think??? either that or 89…
-
http://vgprices.com/search.php
Dick Smith? Get EB to price match….
-
HI!
-
helooooooooo!
Comments keep disappearing….-
It;s the website link! When I have that my comments dissapear!
-
-
-
Some of the points are a little lacklustre.. but you know what.. i’d be more than happy to scrap MA15+ to have an r18+
G
PG
M15+
R18+
I see little wrong with that..
-
One thing’s wrong, It’s officially R8+ now!
-
I gotta say, if you were aiming to annoy with your new handle, mission successful! It makes the page look like crap!
-
PS: Sorry for being such a grump, but when the handle is for a poster as prolific as Jimu, it means that EVERY page becomes a mess! Jimu – you simultaneously rock and suck!
-
It blocks the reply button with the link, so we can’t even complain directly at him! (I’m aware that you can still click it, but roll with me here)
-
-
The amusing part is Jimu is the one who usually bitches bout looooooooong names 😉
-
I’m against the reply being moved, seriously my browserS have been fine.
-
-
-
I dunno if anyone is interested, but just thought I’d put it out there.. catchoftheday.com.au is selling 1st gen ipads for $549.
I think I can pretty much guarantee myself success in this iPad comp (http://apps.facebook.com/starfront-contest/?type=discovery). You should see the other entries! One guy has uploaded the covers from two of his favourite albums. One guy has uploaded a montage of Star Wars characters and a picture of Halo Kitty twice. Someone else has uploaded a picture of a planet imploding with an IGN watermark on it. And someone else has uploaded a picture of Android slicing an apple in half with a lightsaber…I am literally Laughing Out Loud! Didn’t these people read the comp instructions?? “Just create a Starfront: Collision-themed profile picture that you think Gameloft should use” 😀
-
How much longer does it run for?
I feel an urge to take you on, now 😛 lol
-
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was tempted.
-
I hate rainy days.
-
It’s raining? I’m in a windowless den 🙁
-
‘Twas a beautiful golden morn that carried through to the afternoon.
Then the conniving weather gods decided to piss all over that. -
Rainin’ so friggin’ hard. At least at West End it was.
Oh man, I was all walking, and the rain, THE RAIN, it was all “Ima fall on you and ruin your afternoon” and I was all deep in conversation, being all “I don’t understand why all the clients keep calling me ‘Nerd’” * and then it wet all over me. And then I had to talk to the stone faced 19 year old broad at Coffee Club HQ with my glasses all foggy because their air con steamed them up and my sweet hipster fringe all wet so it revealed my receding hairline.
So yeah, s’raining.
*A client this morning was talking to a work mate about the PSN hack. I walked out of my office, literally passed by the wall of his peripheral vision and the client said ‘I bet that nerd got hit hard’
Also the dude who delivers our water keeps telling me I should try out for Beauty & The Geek. I told him I have a girlfriend and he just said “HA! And you’re funny! They’d love you”… This was not a friendly jibe…-
This reply made me lol lots. Now I know you’re in West End I can creepily drive around the streets, stalking you, trying to find the house at the beginning of your youtube vids. For no real reason whatsoever…
Buuuut that means I have to leave the house. Maybe another day.
-
-
-
Rain is awesome. Winter is awesome. Summer is not.
I may be biased as I was born in England.
Nonetheless.
I wish it was raining here. It makes walks so much more fun.
-
I concur.
(Although I wasn’t born in England)
-
-
Awww, but rainy days mean you can jump up and down in puddles, plus the sky goes all dark during the day coooool!
-
Is the sky going dark during the day like some form of strange magic to your Barbarian brain?
Ha ha ha I kid.
*whispers in your ear* But seriously, is it?
-
http://kramsdesign.com/misc/kotaku/barbarian-rain.jpg
Retarded legs, but I regret nothing!
-
In all fairness only one of the legs is retarded!
-
-
-
But rainy days mean we might get snow at the ski-fields, and I frakking love skiing!
Blaghman the bored presents:
A Blaghman production, produced by Blaghman. In dedication to Plainview, whose fancy wordplay has sadly been missing from anything I’ve read over the past few days…
The lost post.
Now lean in close Kotapeeps,
and listen now to me,
For I have a worthy story,
to tug your heartstrings three.
Our tale commences forthwith,
on the website where it ran,
A true story of a message,
delivered by Blaghman.
This message had a purpose,
to enlighten all the folk,
But something happened quickly,
The knowledge of an in-joke.
Noticing the problem,
the message was deleted,
A spirit on the net,
its energy depleted.
Without a worldy tether,
the message starts to wonder,
Could it have a life outside,
the plains of web to wander?
It started to see others,
its companions, could they be?
But soon it saw their difference,
all lost by five-oh-three.
It left to travel further,
but all it saw was blackness,
The tubes of dirty porno,
all swirling round the axis.
The centre of the network,
surrounded by this muck,
With the horror of the truth,
the message came unstuck.
It floated to the surface,
of the infinite expanse,
It gave a little movement,
a small farewell in dance?
It knew its time was fleeting,
so it made a solemn wish,
For Blagh to just delete less,
if he could be less childish.
To think before he types things,
not think before he posts them,
And thus it was dispersed,
the message in its hearse.
Honestly, I’m not sure whether I love or hate poetry, but it’s certainly one of the above. I just felt like getting this out there, I seem to type up a lot of responses, and then delete them after deciding they’re too silly.
Also, the first time I posted this it was eaten by the 503 demons… So hopefully I haven’t accidentally double-posted.
-
Nice Blaghman. Now let’s see you rock it over a beat….
-
DO IT!
-
Challenge Accepted!
Wait…
Hmmm…
No, I have no idea how to do this…
-
-
-
Very nice!
*sniff* Those poor half-formed comments.
-
I’m touched.
… Why are you touching me?
-
It’s not me, it’s my facts I tellsya! I mentioned they were flirty!
-
-
Only now do I notice I ballsed up the last verse. I learned one thing while playing an instrument, and doing drama, make the start and finish good, and people will assume the rest is, and I failed at that!
let’s try this again.
To think before he types things,
not think before he posts them,
And thus it was dispersed,
the note lost in mayhem.… Ehh, good enough.
My tribute to the Royal Wedding 😀
http://twitpic.com/4qus0a
Nearly hometime! Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Just a quickie for Fatshady, every man and there dog has been telling me to get on this all week
http://www.myspace.com/sergesevere
Congrats, TadMod, on your recent ununemployment.
-
I don’t not not not want to thank those that weren’t not not a big influence on it.
Also, thanks 😀
-
You want to thank those who weren’t a big influence on it? If they weren’t a big influence, what did they do exactly? :p
-
Sony Ericsson Australia is holding a contest on their facebook page for you to win a double pass to the Xperia launch event! 😀
http://www.facebook.com/sonyericssonau
I’ll be there!!
I know how KotakuAU regulars are awesome at contests and coming up with amazing entries, so don’t let me down 😉
-
They shall call it… Sir Serrels’ swivel…
Erm…. am I the only one who doesn’t care about the royal wedding?
-
I care, in the sense of, while I don’t care about the wedding, I care about the fact that everyone’s precious time is being taken up by it.
Things I have almost typed to people of the internet, no. 1: Technically, it wouldn’t be lesbian rape, simply the rape /of/ a lesbian.
-
no. 2: No, your “you’re” should be “your” whereas their use of your was correct.
-
HAHA!
They’ve blocked youtube at work and I just had a chance to catch up on Marks apperance on abc24. Suddenly I understand what everone was laguhing at.
-
It’s like his brain just shut down in the end.
Just wanna wish Little Miss Sir Eats a lot the best of luck for today! Hope you kick some major ass!! Do us proud!!
-
Aww why thankyou welbot!
It was a glorious time, 12 hours of non-stop competitive gaming. I woke up this morning and my biceps were SORE?
I’m doing a write up now, you’ll hear more about it soon!
-
Ok, Ok. Something has occurred to me, so bear with me here. If you’re currently a Sergeant, and you did well at the gamesy thing (oh yes, gamesy thing, I am so eloquent) yesterday, is there any chance of a promotion? Staff-Sergeant Eats-a-Lot. If you perform badly, or get DQ’ed from a match? The Dishonourably Discharged Eats-a-Lot! Think about it, your name over the *insert amount of time here* could reflect your real world triumphs. And your real world FAILURES.
Hahahaha. HAHAHAHA. MWAHAHAHAHA!
*cough* Errr, probably best to just ignore this.
-
Video game movies, lay’em down people. Quiet weekend on the front and i wanna watch some movies about my hobbie…
-
The Wizard rocks*
*I was ten last time i saw it
Mortal Kombats are fun with a good, umm… home theatre setup*
*May induce rage if you don’t have a copy of MK9
Comic Book movies count!*
*Don’t they?I’m pretty sure each movie has had a mediocre game of some sort…
Hackers*
*As i’ve said before, i’m old!
Blue Velvet*
*How awesome would a point’n’click Blue Velvet adventure game be!!!-
just watch a trailer for blue velvet… im not going to watch that.

-
The Last Starfighter
-
+1
Also ‘War Games’ from around the same era
-
Oh, hell yeah! I completely forgot about War Games.

-
Doom.

A minecraft parody of Lady Gaga’s Born this way, in case you didn’t see it in my Twitter. It features our favourite Yogscast!
Just a little something, a warning even, about the potential incoming spam. I’m going to have to take a break around 7:30, I hurt my foot, and need to go see… The Doctor. *Cough* Subtlety is my strong point.
-
But seriously, I did hurt my foot.
I was putting out some rubbish, walking downstairs, and I missed the lowest step, hit the ground floor with the side of my foot. I then proceeded to swear a lot. I mean, wow, there was a lot of swearing. But now I’m okay. But not really, because I then went for a walk, because my ankle felt fine, and now I have to limp everywhere.
Good thing we already have crutches in my house!
Now, message to FatShady.
I think you talked about this before, but I’ve completely forgotten everything you’ve said on the matter. So, are we able to put mods on the server, or are we stuck doing Vanilla minecraft while online. I ask this because for no readily apparent raisin I haven’t been on the server for a while, and maybe spicing things up would help. Of course, if everyone else on the server is happy with stuff then just ignore me.
What’s crackin’ Kotaku peeps. Just got back from WCG in Parra. The event was awesome.
It would have been even more awesome had I known where to go. I got there early and decided to wait right outside the Riverside theatre and play my DS. I could swear they said it was held at the Riverside. What they mean’t to say was that the event was literally held at the side of the Parra River. This also happens to be across the street from the Riverside. So you can see how more than a few gamers were confused.
Anyway, the event was totally awesome. I got to meet Junglist although I only spoke to him briefly because he was also coordinating the FIFA and Tekken tournaments. So it’s understandable, he was a bit too busy to have a real conversation. But yeah, he’s a pretty awesome guy. Spoke to him about a new Aussie Gaming show called “Save Point” apparently airing on One HD at some time in the future. So look out for that.
I got to meet Mark as well YAY!
-
The only downside of the night was that I had to drink a Redbull. I’m not a fan of energy drinks. The only reason I accepted one was because they were being given out for free and were served by an exceptionally hot girl (everyone else was saying no, so I thought I’d be nice and accept one). The problem is that they open the can right infront of you, and have a promotional photographer right there to snap you as you are mid drink. So my cunning plan to throw it in the bin as soon as the hotties weren’t looking was busted. Two different models asked me twice more if I wanted another Redbull, despite the fact that they were just as good looking, I had to politely decline.
Incase anyone else was there. I was the big guy in the denim jacket and red-ish shirt.
-
What was the gaming like? I was going to go and be awkwardly silent along with my gaming brethren, but instead I was awkwardly silent at home (it’s all about the location, you see).
I hear there were some hiccups with the Tekken side of things – did everything else go well? Anyone want to chime in with how the event went? Anyone from Kotaku win in epic fashion?-
I didn’t actually sign up for any of the games. Mainly because I have no idea how to play FIFA and I’m rubbish at Tekken. And I only played Tekken 6 for a few fights with someone. In terms of atmosphere, it was great. Plenty of things had been done to make sure the whole night had entertainment.

Guys, does anyone remember those Sega Megadrive games that came in paint tins with lollies? The cartridges were silver instead of black if I remember correctly? Been trying to find info on google but can’t find anything.

I remember paint cans full of jelly beans, but not with Mega Drive cartridges… Might google around a bit myself.

Thought this might help, but no dice:
