It seems as though I jumped the gun on the whole Zavvi issue last week. I should have looked in to it a bit more before crying wolf, and I want to apologise for misleading everyone… for punishment I’m going to listen to Friday nonstop all day today, or until my head explodes, whichever one happens first!

Also, this week sees the return of the mighty Captain Computer Games. He’s just come back from having a nice holiday, and he’s ready to start fighting crime again. And for those who‘ve never read CCG before, here’s a small recap for you…

This Week’s episode:

  • really dislike these posts… while most of it is fine… one big thing that could cause issues this week is that steam is having a ubisoft week… new deal every day along with 33% off most titles all week… yet you haven’t clarified that

you’ve posted todays 1 day only prices for Prince of Persia titles and the 33% off titles for the other things… this will change and the 33% off ones are likely to get cheaper…

and you list Brink – $38.99 as digital download… yes you activate on steam… but you’re linking to ozgameshop… they send physical copies so this is misleading…

seriously need to step up the game with these posts or just stop doing them as they are so inaccurate it isn’t funny 🙁 sure i’ve only listed 2 gripes… but as someone who really keeps an eye on this sort of thing and follows and contributes to a number of “bargain” threads on forums… it isn’t great :\

    • Oi Mark! What have you done to my beautiful Cheap$kate Gamer?? Under Digital Downloads, Batman, Brink and CODMW3 were under retail when I sent it to you…could you fix it please?

    • Dude a member of the community does these each week not Mark. I also think lambo is doing a bang up job.So what if he makes a mistake its not like this is his job he doesn’t get paid to do it.

      • Human haters gonna human hate… can’t please everyone. It’s the same with people bitching about non-gamer news on Kotaku like they just invented a plague and unleashed it on every kitten and puppy in existence and should be burned at the stake. 😛

Then there’s also the select few commenters that go to many pages just want to pick a fight with others to get somebody to talk to them 😛 (You know who you are humans)

        • i agree it just bugged my that he/or she (we don’t descriminate at kotaku) was picking on the article that lambo took time out of his busy schedule to write. But meh what are you gonna do?

          • White Knighting is no better than criticism. Criticism, however, can be helpful.

Mistakes were made and KRiSX pointed them out. Could he have done it better? Sure (everything can be done better).

Lamboman didn’t pitch a hissy fit, so why are you?

Hope you get extra special brownie points.

        • Sounds like you’re doing exactly what you’re complaining about.

Also, you are human – get over it.

  • Wow… FF14 is so cheap. Perhaps I’ll buy it now just in case it gets better in the future. I heard they are adding new content soon.

  • Love how cheap games are online, just bought The Witcher premium edition $36 shipped from Thehut last week. It shipped on thursday, hopefully it will arrive this week sometime.

  • Oooh, I’ve been playing a bit of settlers 7 at a mates and really liking it. Even though it is a little complicated the campaign does a great job of slowly introducing you to all the aspects of the gameplay. The only dissapointment is no map editor. Might pick this up for myself.

  • Cheers Mark!

Anyone seen a good price on OPERATION FLASHPOINT: RED RIVER for XBOX 360?

Me and some mates want to fire up the co-op soon.

  • Prices are crazy online, love it. Why anyone buys retail baffles me, but that’s the strong dollar for you. Hopefully retail in Australia will find a way to be competitive and we’ll all benefit from this

  • Anyone know if in order to get the Back to Karkand map pack for Battlefield 3, you have to pre-order the limited edition or will you get it with the standard edition as well? Tried asking ozgameshop but all I got back was a derp.
    Anywhere cheap for PS3?

  • Anyone seen a decent price for a 3DS? I want to play Ocarina, but don’t want to pay more than that $288 that you could pick one up for at launch…

  • Just walked into EB this afternoon. They’re just about to start a new sale, called the Hero sale or something.

$10, $20 and 1/2 price on games (I think mainly new games).

Just picked up 2 brand new JRPGs (that only were released last month) for $30 each. [Ar tonelico Qoga Knell of Ar ciel, & Hyperdimension Neptunia].

It actually looks like one of those EB sales which are pretty good value, with quite a few decent games now sub $50. Probably not quite as cheap as UK online stores, but close to.

  • I picked up god of war 2 from kmart for 15 bucks.. Along with burnout takedown 15 bucks, granted it’s PS2, but still not bad.
