Don't Judge A Kick Ass Gears Of War 3 Player By His Rank

Two years ago, gamer Aldo Cauvi started losing his hearing. Then, things got worse. Last year, he lost his hearing completely. And his job. This year, he needed something to keep going. That was Gears of War 3.

On April 18, Cauvi began the Gears 3 beta, and by May 15 at 5pm EST, Cauvi hit Rank 100, apparently the first player to do so.

"Literally I lost one month of my life, sleeping only four or five hours daily for one whole month," said Cauvi. He played public matches, because the in-between time was shorter, meaning no waiting, and he could earn as many points as possible.

But Cauvi wasn't just trying to earn points to showboat; he wanted to lift his spirits. Achieving 100 in the Gears of War 3 beta was a way to show himself what he could do if he tried.

Opponents were jealous, sending him hateful and bitter messages over Xbox Live, saying he didn't have a life or that he was just some rich kid.

Cauvi hasn't been able to find a job. "In Peru where I live, the opportunities for deaf people just don't exist," he said.

"That's why I have a lot of free time for gaming while I try to raise the funds to get the operation to recover my hearing," said Cauvi. "Now, I really don't have many things in my life that makes me happy and don't have many things to do - but the beta was definitely one of those good things."

    Whoa... talk about dedication.

Good on him. Hopefully his luck will change soon.

I don't mean to sound callous but surely there are better things to do than run yourself into the ground playing video games in order to 'lift your spirits'. In no way am i disregarding what this guy is going through, having been through my fair share of debilitating illnesses i am not down playing his suffering at all.

But COME ON, How does he pay rent? for food? even find time to even look for work? or 'raise money' when he is already wasting time and money on playing games online which require games, a console, a television and an internet connection. If I wanted to work that badly and needed to get an operation to do so i would sell my consoles/tv/whatever else i got in order to make that shit happen. I'm sick of people complaining about their situation and doing ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING or worse THE OPPOSITE of what they could be doing. This is supreme self pity at its most appalling.

This is stupid, he should get off his ass and at the very least do SOMETHING, video games will not aid him in making his life better, only to waste it. If anything it'll probably just fuck up his eyesight as well.

Thats what im saying!!!! this guy is a loser! who decided to play video games instead of finding a job or spending time on fundraising for his illness...he did not play for fun, he played for points! he said he played all CTL when it came out, only because it gives points quicker!I bet he diddnt even try bobblehead players choice..this guy was seriously playing a BETA for points!!!
I am rather annoyed with all the coverage this guy is getting for being a loser.
Sorry EPIC i have a job!!

With that said, i do respect the fact that he is def and was able to accomplish Lvl 100....i just think its bogus to give him so much coverage when he should be putting together fundraisers or looking for a job!!! anybody that had no job, no life and played only for points, could have reached Lvl 100

Good on him, and I hope its an eye opener to the dicks who send those types of messages

Anybody who thinks this is awsome is also a loser.
why play a BETA for points!!!!his level gets reset!!!!
he said he did it for himself to show himself he could..OR he could have shown himself he could get a job or raise enough $$ for a medical procedure!!!
I dont get how this guy isnt a loser
