Dragon Age Legends developer EA2D turned over all of the assets to its Facebook strategy role-playing game to acclaimed Flash game developer Pixelante, and the action-packed Dragon Age Legends: Remix 01 is what they got back.
Pixelante's Evan Miller isn't one to create slow, Facebook-style strategy role-playing experiences. EA2D already made that game, so when the man behind games like ImmorTall and Pixel Legions got his hands on Legends' assets, he decided to speed things up a little.
Dragon Age Legends: Remix 01 takes the characters and creatures from the original Facebook game and places them in a fast-paced, point-and-click action role-playing game setting. Your character flies about the screen, slicing hordes of enemies into ribbons between visits to the camp tent to spend experience points on upgrading his abilities.
"I love the Dragon Age universe," says Evan "Pixelante" Miller. "So when EA2D approached me about remixing Dragon Age Legends as a hack 'n slash, I leapt at the chance to bring my fast, fluid style of action to the project."
Players need not feel bad for briefly abandoning Legends for this remixed version. Each level completed unloads special items for the Facebook original, including the fabled Blood Dragon armour of yore.
I approve of this idea, and want to see it implemented on a larger scale. Let's see EA hand over the assets to Battlefield 3 to create a Facebook strategy game, or Activision tap an independent developer to give us the Call of Duty kart racer we so richly deserve.
