Is L.A. Noire Locking Up Xbox 360s?

The PS3 version of L.A. Noire is apparently overheating because of firmware. According to Rockstar, the studio behind L.A. Noire, the issue persists mostly with older PS3 consoles. But the PS3 isn't alone.

There are reports online that the Xbox 360 version of the game is locking up. "It's been freezing since the first mission, now I'm about 4 in and it won't stop freezing," wrote one player on the forums.

Rockstar seems to be aware of Xbox 360 issues. Part of the studio's advice is to "clear the 360 cache" (read Rockstar support here).

Many players are not experiencing any issues whatsoever. But those who are, try clearing the cache. If that doesn't work, there's always bitching on the internet.

Sorry, I don't own a PS3 so I may have misread. But didn't Kotaku get confirmation from Sony YESTERDAY that it was nothing to do with LA Noir??
Or was that debunked while I bunked??

I've not seen any issues in the first 3 hours. I did load all discs to HDD before so not sure that matters?

No issues on my end. Like FatShady, I installed all the discs before playing, an I've finished the first one (was focussing purely on story cases as we had people over).

When I first put the disk in it came up with 'play dvd' instead of 'play game' I was a little worried but after I restarted the xbox its been fine. Apart from the occasional pretty bad frame rate dropping I've really enjoyed what I've played so far.

All good for me so far (only ~1 hour in, though). As above, I installed all 3 discs first.

      Yeah, me too.

It did chug pretty hard at the start of the first case, but that cleared up by the time I'd hit the end of the alley.

Copy and Paste same story posted after every major game release... coincidence methinks?

Damn you magical cache! Why can't you clear yourself?

at least its easy 1 button thing now not old method [lb lb X Y rb rb] or something... now that was magical.

Oh wait - Microsoft? Then let me just suck it up and mention that these things happen, etc. No double standards here.

      cry about it

The hypocritical, inconsistent, and unbalanced responses people spew forth with abandon? DON'T MIND IF I DO!

I've only experienced my ps3 making a few high pitched type noises, usually once in a while or a few every couple seconds along with some lagging but after a bit of not moving in the game it went away. However I played a lot yesterday, that could be a factor but when I was on a binge with MGS4 too this never happened to me and I do have a newer ps3.
