Rebooted Voltron Force Gets Horrific Rap Theme Song

We usually enjoy the latest SwizzBeats track as much as the next pop rap follower. However, the brand new Voltron Force theme song, which turns our favourite kitty robot into some sort of horrible buzz verb, has us worried.

It just sounds like all those other horrible commercials where the marketing team tries to turn the brand name into a verb like “Do you Dew?” or “Gellin’”. And that’s not the only thing they’re changing, Topless Robot pointed out the changes to the series’ plotline in the most recent press release.

Several years after the final battle between the Voltron Force and Prince Lotor, a new evil threatens the galaxy, and the universe is once again in need of its true defender…

The original Voltron Force pilots, Keith, Allura, Lance, Hunk and Pidge, are joined by three new cadets. With the once-in-a-millennium opportunity to train alongside their heroes, these junior pilots will help unlock incredible new powers, discover secret origins, and fight to earn their role in the legendary Voltron Force!

New characters (kid characters) and a mythos flash forward? Eep. That being said, all the video we’re seeing now (that isn’t peppered with screaming “Let’s Voltron” music) looks great. To the cat robot!

Voltron Force will be on NickTunes on June 16.
