As the custodians of games that are completely unplayable during Sony’s massive network outage, Sony Online Entertainment has an especially tough job winning back MMO players who have sat idle for 22 days and counting. SOE has now posted its full list of goodies for subscribers to nine MMOs; free subscription time, in-game content and special XP events are all planned.

We’d heard some of this before (the Batman mask in D.C. Universe Online, for one). For starters, everyone gets an additional 30 days of game time (both PC and, in the case of DCUO and Free Realms, PS3.)

Here’s the swag:

  • DC Universe Online: Batman and Two-Face Inspired Masks and 30 Marks of Distinction
  • Free Realms: Free daily items (7 to collect)
  • Clone Wars Adventures: Count Dooku v2 Outfit
  • EverQuest: A series of events, including Double XP, Double Rare Mob Spawns and Double Faction Gains
  • EverQuest II and EverQuest II Extended: A series of events, including Double XP, Double Guild XP, Loot Bonanza, and City Festivals
  • Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: A series of Double XP events
  • Star Wars Galaxies: Bounty Hunter Statue, a miniature model of Boba Fett’s ship, the Slave I
  • Magic: The Gathering – Tactics: Four of each of these spells: “Ivory Mask”, “Duress” and “Angelheart Vial”, plus 500 Station Cash
  • PoxNora: Limited edition Carrionling, Welcome Back 5K Gold Award Tournaments and two Draft Tournaments, plus 500 Station Cash

For those who are unlimited subscribers, in-game currency will be credited to accounts in addition to the freebies above. The breakdown.

  • Free Realms: 20,000 coins.
  • Clone Wars Adventures: 7500 Galactic Credits
  • D.C. Universe Online: 10 Marks of Distinction

SOE notes Station Access subscribers will also get 500 Station Cash in addition to all of the above for which they are eligible. US-based Station Account holders are also eligible for free identity theft protection, with alternatives available for subscribers outside the US.

Recent Updates [Sony Online Entertainment]

  • Nice to see that SOE as a collective is giving something back, hopefully it is well received by players and they aren’t all just ungrateful brats ready to bash sony who is a victim of a crime.

Surprised that SWG even gets rewards, hasn’t that community died out yet?

Needless to say, i’m still willing to put all my trust in sony. I haven’t bought a PS3 yet as I opted for the xbox 360.. but i’d still buy one this very second even with these issues 🙂

Oh and guess it is also necessary to say FIRST!
Yeah.. I just became one of those guys.

It’s hard to get excited about a Batman mask and less marks than I would have earned playing the game in that time frame. I guess as long as they include 22+ Vault Tickets per character it isn’t that bad of a compensation package.
However the part that stings is that they aren’t saying ‘during the downtime we polished off update 3, really dug into the massive backlog of bugs and got the frame work for the super servers sorted out’.
Instead they’ve retreated behind SOE Press Releases. Over the past 22+ days they’ve done nothing to even hint that DCUO is being worked on. I understand why had to go down, but instead of redirecting it to the SOE Press Release page they could have thrown up a dev blog. When SOE shut down Station DCUO vanished and that’s just not good enough.

If they want to give me free stuff that’s all fine and dandy, but I’m really upset with them over the way they handled all this and that’s not something they can change with some fake currency and an item most players won’t even use.

  • Starsider still had plenty of active pvp the last time i played.
Most of the other servers have died out in the past 6 months.
