Square Enix Floats Dead Island To America

Deep Silver is a lovely little company, but when a game generates the sort of buzz Dead Island stirred up with its stunning trailer, the big guns need to be called in. That’s why Techland’s zombie holiday game is coming to the Americas via Square Enix.

A game with the hype buildup of Dead Island needs stellar marketing and massive distribution to make it a real success. Well, that and solid, compelling gameplay. Now that Deep Silver and Square Enix have teamed up to distribute and market the game in North and South America for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, I’m confident the game will have at least two out of those three things.

“Square Enix’s impressive distribution and marketing capabilities, combined with their proven success with launching top-notch AAA titles, makes them the absolute best partner for Dead Island,” said Deep Silver Chief Operating Officer Geoff Mulligan. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with their dedicated and talented team and look forward to collaborating with them in order to bring Dead Island to gamers.”

Square Enix is also thrilled, of course, because no one wants to sully a grand distribution agreement announcement with doubts. That’s my job.
