The Rich-Person’s Edition Of Gears Of War 3

On September 10, 2011, you will be able to buy Gears of War 3 for $US60. But maybe that’s not enough for you. Maybe you’ll want more Gears in your life than a boring game disc.

Maybe you’ll want some Gears paraphernalia. And an artbook written by a smart man. And a statue. And a flag. And maybe you’ll want to be able to play online as hero Marcus Fenix’ dad.

All that and more will be available in two special editions of Gears of War 3, announced by Microsoft today:

Limited Edition ($79.99 US) – The must-have for fans who want to celebrate the culmination of the trilogy, the Limited Edition includes:

• Exclusive Unlockable Adam Fenix Multiplayer Character – Each Octus Service Medal replica is engraved with a unique Xbox LIVE code that is the only way to unlock Adam Fenix in multiplayer.

    • Unless you live in Australia and order online from the UK then it’s waaay cheaper.

I picked up the Halo Reach Big ass statue edition for less than half of the EB Games price of

      • …and because I like to boast about the one bit of clever consumerism I ever did. I bought a $79 copy of Reach from JB’s while I was waiting a week for the Legendary edition in the post, then when it came I traded the $79 copy to EB Games for $90 and put them money towards Fable 3.

  • Imagine that.
The ‘Limited’ edition in the US will costs less than a standard copy at retail will in Australia.

With the snarkiness aside, I very rarely get these sort of packs, and some of the stuff in these two editions look neat and I’m sure lots of GOW fans are licking their lips, but I think I’ll give it a pass.

A standard copy will do me just fine.

  • Man, I’m a sucker for statues. If anyone is patient enough to wait a week, GAME UK is selling it for 105 pounds including postage, which is about $AUD160, opposed to EB’s $AUD200.

  • Just preordered mine from EB.
While I’m normally reluctant to use EB, they’re the only ones I could find listing the epic edition for preorder.

    • Apparently it’s an EB exclusive (according to the website)… Shame. Good on EB for squashing any local competition to their ludicrously high prices.

  • Well if ozgameshop get the limited edition I might drop a bit extra cash on that, the flag would be a nice decorative addition to the media room I’m designing

  • I won’t get either.

I’d like to play as Adam Fenix but don’t care about the flag or personal effects.

I’d like the art book but don’t want a statue.

The Infected Omen Weapon Pack sounds like it’ll be DLC anyway.
