This Week In Games

Wow. This week is rubbish, to the extent that I considered not bothering with This Week In Games. But then I thought - what about all those guys eagerly awaiting the release of Trainz Simulator 12 and Zumba Fitness? Don't they deserve justice?

Sniper: Ghost Warrior (PS3) What is it? The game that keeps getting delayed for some reason. Should you care? At your peril. This game is mince.

Trainz Simulator 12 (PC) What is it? Choo choo! Should you care? I suggest you listen to this instead.

Virtua Tennis 4 (360/PS3/Wii) What is it? Also know as the alternate universe in which Andy Murray wins every Grand Slam ever year. What a wonderful world that would be... Should you care? I like Virtua Tennis, and the PS Move integration is actually really well done. Game of the week by far.

Zumba Fitness (PS3) What is it? I don't know. Honestly! Can someone please let me know what this Zumba nonsense is? Should you care? I DON'T KNOW WHAT ZUMBA IS!

    Missed opportunity?

    Trainz Simulator 12 (PC)
    What is it? Choo choo!
Should you care? I definitely don't choo-choo-choose you.

Also, zumba = http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=zumba&aq=f . You obviously don't watch enough late night TV!

I am ashamed that I know Zumba is a music based dance your way to fitness program. I knw this becasue I get to teach the Zumba class at my school for sport.

I hope you're not teaching english as well.

Can't remember the last time I heard/read someone use mince as an insult. Cheers for that at least.

As for Zumba, well, apparently the first rule of Zumba is you don't talk about Zumba.

Money saved for another week or two...

Actually think the next game to purchase is LEGO Pirates and LA Noire.

The twelfth game in a series with "z" in the title? Surely we're on to a winner there.

I'll pass on all of the above, thanks.
Waiting for my Move and sharpshooter. Then online gaming again on PS3...sometime in the near future.

Is it just me, or does calling something 'mince' sound more like a compliment than an insult? :P

Also: Murray winning a Grand Slam? That'll be the virtual day. lol

In other news, Mark it might be worth investigating why the heck LA Noir is not appearing as classified on classification.gov.au 10 days before release!

      Sorry dude! No story here!

why does it not come up in search

oh well, at least it is classified

More like 15-18 days, sadly. :(

That biggy smalls mashup keeps popping up in my day one way or another, still not sick of it.

Is there something wrong with me? I'm actually wondering what the whole train gameZ are about? If its like a build a whole toy trainset, with painted old ladies with bingo arms and cute little tree's and tunnels and stuffs, then I may be interested! But not interested enough to actually go and check...

      WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
I AM SO FILLED WIT RAGE AT YOUR TRAINZ ASSUMPTIONS THAT I ACCIDENTALLY SPELT "WITH" AS "WIT" AND "SPELLED" AS "SPELT". ALSO I AM TYPING CAPS SO IF YOU COULD IMAGINE ME SHOUTING, THAT WOULD REALLY BE GREAY. MAN, I SWEAR THESE TYPOS ARE ALL UNINTENTIONAL. STUPID FINGERS.

The Trainz series is one of the leading rail sim series, which is why it's up to such a high number now (in addition to usually having separate driver/builder/engineer editions depending on the toolset you're after - I think there are two editions of 12) - it goes through almost annual updates and has a huge modding community much like MS Flight Sim used to and most sports games do (the release schedule for the latter, not the community content support).

If you'd like to be able to build model railways without the restrictions of games like Railroad Tycoon then Trainz is a decent one to go for (though DLC for most rail sims tends to be stupidly expensive)

A little while back they did release a My First Trainz game though that does have you setting up model railways around a house; more of a budget option for people happy to tinker Trackmania-style who don't care about using accurate topographical information to recreate famous European rail lines down to the ballast scatter and carriage paint jobs. (MFT has a RRP of $20 I think but can usually be had for $9 or $10 in various sales)

Yeah Mark, your probably better off not knowing about Zumba :P

Looks like I'll just stick with GoW3 beta this week then... until my MK arrives at least!

It looks like the coming week/week and a half or so has some good stuff on the way in terms of online PC releases - a couple of decent indie titles popping up on Steam as well as some of the bigger games like the new Mount & Blade and Section 8: Prejudice (I think they're meant to release on the 3rd and 4th respectively) - but yeah, retail looks a bit lame for now... at least the new M&B and S8 are stupidly cheap and thus make for some good impulse-buy distractions.

    Trainz is definitely no RailWorks.

I would have thought Black Ops DLC would rate a mention...

Not a retail release... like how XBLA and PSN games don't get listed.

Hopefully my copy of MK gets in this week...
