From Hairless Hitmen To Heiress Heroines, This Is Square Enix's E3 2011 Lineup

Square Enix's booth at E3 is going to be a total sequel fest this year, with new franchise entries for Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Dungeon Siege and Deus Ex. Are they bringing any games that aren't sequels, prequels, or reboots?

Squeenix sure picked a fine time to grab Eidos, didn't they? Of the major games in this year's lineup, three of the biggest titles are a direct result of the 2009 purchase, including Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Tomb Raider reboot, and the return of Agent 47 in Hitman Absolution. All we're missing is the new Thief game, which some of us (okay, me) are hoping makes some sort of surprise showing.

On top of the Eidos sequels, Square Enix brings one of its own in Final Fantasy XIII-2, the Lightning-powered follow-up to the 2010 role-playing game that people just adore. No really, everyone loved it. It was fantastic. I might be lying.

The company will also be showing off Heroes of Ruin, a 3DS strategy role-playing game with a strong focus on gaming with friends and connectivity, taking full advantage of many of the more interesting features of Nintendo's latest handheld.

So there's one completely original game. Tack on Deep Silver's Dead Island and Ankama Studio's tactical combat fantasy MMO Wakfu and you've got a party.

See anything you like?

God damn, no FFXIII-Versus or Type-0? We've been waiting for both since forever but we get FFXIII-2 first!!

      +1

Final fantasy XIII-Versus was literally the only game that would cause an impact to be shown. I mean its not like they started designing it in 2006 or anything. Oh wait.

I dont want anymore FFXIII-2. The first one wasn't a very good game so it does not deserve a sequel. They should just remake FFVII, or something else that people actually want.

I liked SquareSoft better, they've gone down hill ever since the merger.

    Thief 4 please!

Ah, c'mon now. People have got to stop bashing FFXIII. It was by no means a BAD game. It just didn't live up to its predecessors. You'll find quite a lot of people who liked the game (obviously not as much as they loved the older FF's). It always seems that the haters are the most vocal. But anyway, lookin forward to seeing the lineup.

I loved it and had a great time playing it. I have many fond memories of FF13 and look forward to the sequel. I make a point of stating as much after any article where the author makes it sound like everyone hates it. Not everyone hated it!

FF is mediocre at best and then someone says "13 wasn't bad, just not as good as the others"... Less than mediocre = bad, lawl.

So tl;dr is a console-ized Deus Ex and repeat of Invisible War, more typical J-RPGs, and a social game. Square continues to amaze.
