A Pikmin game has long been in development for the Wii. Well, it’s not anymore, as Nintendo has announced that the game is instead going to be released on the Wii U.
The original plan was to release the Wii game this year, for the series’ 10th anniversary, but once Miyamoto saw the new system’s HD graphics and controller, his mind was made up.
“I think that’s the perfect system for Pikmin. So we’re going to make it for that”, he said earlier today at a Nintendo Q&A session.
Miyamoto adds that, because the Wii version was so far along, the release of the game on the Wii U “shouldn’t be a long wait”.
