Soon You Can Play Games On Your Roku Box

Roku is branching outside its video-streaming roots and bringing casual games to its set-top boxes this winter.

Roku is negotiating with developers, including Rovio, to create games specifically for the TV-based platform. Supposedly, these casual gaming channels will be available on new Roku devices starting this winter. Nobody knows how the controls will work but these new boxes could ship with a game controller or a game-friendly remote.

Obviously, the Roku won’t replace your Xbox 360, but you may be tempted to play a quick game on your TV instead of your iPad. [GigaOm]
