  • Wow I need to get out from under my rock! I never knew dungeon siege 3 was coming out on consoles as well.

    Interest +1

    • After playing the demo it may as well have only come out on consoles – Dungeon Siege it certainly ain’t… it’s just a shame it couldn’t have been an entertaining game under the wrong brand name like Serious Sam 2, and instead seems to be just a very lacklustre title with a particularly sloppy interface.

  • greenmangaming.com has Duke Nukem Forever Steam DL for ~$36.50USD. You get the Key straight away. I’m pre-loading as I type this!

    • I just had a look at this, how trustworthy are they? since that is cheap enough to make me consider getting the PC rather than 360 copy.

    • That’s great, but who wants to pay that price. I’m willing to wait a while for mine to come from the UK if it means I get it for around 50% of the EB price.

Plus it gives me time to work on my pile of shame.

        • Ha, I have Balls Of Steel too! A fully worthy CE, awsome comic, those postcards a a kack and the retrospective booklet is really well done. Just a shame it didnt unlock until midnight, too late to get into it. Come on work, finish up so I can SMASH it! But yea, dont buy the STD edition from EB, way too expensive.

    • …and so the people that aren’t smart enough to shop around get suckered in to paying that much.

      • And that would be your own fault. Its not like they don’t tell you about it, there is a sticker on each and every game in the store advertising it.

        • Its EB being lazy and hoping to catch out those who dont use price matching. Why would I go get proof of a price from JB HiFi, then walk all the way back to EB just to get the same price?! Why not just buy it at JBs to start with? If EB cant be bothered listing prices that are competitive and expect their customers to do all the running around, they dont deserve our business.

    • Exactly! If you pay full price at EB then it’s your fault for not using their price-match policy! Some shopping centres don’t have JB Hi-Fi so EB does come in handy sometimes. Especially considering they have the 7 day return policy. At least you know that if a game you buy is rubbish, you can take it back within 7 days and get a full refund!

    • Why on earth would I want to faff around with price matching when I can just buy straight from the place that’s selling it cheaper?

      • Yep. It’d be different if they actually offered to BEAT a price you found elsewhere (say by 10% or something). But for the same price you might as well just go to JB or Big W unless you really don’t have one anywhere near you.

    • Why doesn’t EB check the other stores and mark their games down FOR me? Why should I do the work, and if I do why don’t I get perks from it other than same game same price?

I don’t like having to take proof to EB that the price they damn well know is too high is too high.

  • I wonder how many sales Ozgameshop rakes in compared to these three…

I’ve always thought Eb are only good for Special Editions cause they always get the exclusives and their 7 Day Return policy. Of the 3 EB Stores that I do buy from on the rare occasion, they’re not that keen on price matching unless its a MAJOR release and usually request a catalogue and for the store to be in the same centre/mall – they don’t tend to call the other store up to confirm price, but will after sighting a catalogue to check if they have games in stock.

JB for me have always been the cheapest in most cases compared to the other two. GAME are cheap online but charge RRP in store for most releases much like EB – in my area anyway.

If i buy in store, I’ll usually buy from Kmart and Big W cause they’re the closer stores and they usually have the best specials. I got LA Noire for $78 and would’ve got it cheaper from ozgameshop but wanted to play it on release. Half the time I have work piled up so when a game launches I can’t just drop everything and play it 48 hours straight, so I don’t mind waiting the week to receive a game in the post personally.

    • Plus, EB will throw a standard edition game into a metal tin and call it the ‘Bonus Metal Tin Edition’ and deny price matching because you can’t get the stupid tin anywhere else. lame

    • Plus… if you have a PS+ membership, you get a 60 minute demo of the game before you decide to purchase.

  • Does anyone know if EB will pricematch with online catalogues? I must be in the only town in Australia with an EB and not a JB.

    • Hell, we’re in the same boat, my town has only got EB, and Target, no JB, not even a GAME retailer, so I’m either stuck with overpriced AAA’s, or overpriced crap…

Its really a case of which way I want to burn my hard earned (read: bithday gift) cash

    • Don’t know about the online catalogue thing, but in the town I live in we only have EB Games, Kmart, Dick Smith and Harvey Norman.

I buy all my games online now. It’s way cheaper, and I don’t mind waiting.

  • I’ve had dukes balls of steel edition in my sweaty little hands for about 5 hours now. About 3 hours was playing it. So far… I want my money back.

-My dice had a painting defect

-The comic book had a tear in the last 4 pages

-The playing cards are those minature ones that are like a regular deck folded in half and the only thing duke about them is the logo on the back, otherwise they are regular cards, you would have thought the kings would all be duke, the queens all babes and pig cops for the jokers but nooo, they are just really small playing cards with a duke 2 duke logo’s and his face on the back.

-the bust and art book are ok

the game itself feels half finished, there is no spectacle, the voice/character mouth synching is pathetic and the level design is awful. The music is basically just the duke theme song over again at different volumes in different rooms.

I don’t make much and that cost me all my spare “me” cash for the last month. I should have saved my money and bought my daughter an extra birthday present. It would have given me more enjoyment to watch her open it than I have gotten from this game.

I think I’m going to go to bed and cry now.

  • EB list all the prices higher, but say we’ll drop the price if you find it cheaper somewhere else (ie. “price match”). What they are saying is they’re happy for you to get ripped you off unless you catch them out. Its bad business, and doing their brand harm.

Who seriously goes to Big W or JB Hifi, gets a price, then goes over to EB and hassles the salesman for a price match? Seriously?! What’s the damn point?! Just look up who’s cheaper and buy it from them. If EB are too stupid to research and list competitive prices, then stuff em.
