Xbox 360 Still Selling Strong, Says Press Release That Guarantees No Xbox 3 At E3

From a Microsoft press release:

Microsoft has now sold 55 million Xbox 360 consoles across 38 countries and sales are accelerating. Xbox 360 maintains its lead in the US as the top selling console in 2011, and 10 of the past 11 months. In the first four months of 2011, Xbox 360 has seen a 29 per cent year over year increase in sales, which is more than triple the growth of PlayStation 3 and the largest growth of any console on the market.

That is legitimately impressive, even after you account for a few million units bought to replace old, broken hardware. There’s life in the old girl yet.

    • yea the hardware is really starting to show its age performance wise in january i bult a new gaming PC with mid to upper level components and now my xbox 360 with HDMI connection to 32 inch samsung led tv looks so terrible by comparison i can barely stand playing it (also computer is hooked up to same tv via dvi)

  • The piece of crap keeps selling because it keeps breaking. This is the 3rd time my broke !! The 1st time the disc drive ( surprise surprise) the 2nd time the red lights ( big surprise lOl ) the 3rd tine door broke won,t open. It will sell a billion if it keeps breaking.

      • Well I guess if you want to play Halo, Gears of War etc it’s not like you have too many other options.

It is interesting they only show the US figures though. Probably because the worldwide figures vs the PS3 aren’t quite so flattering for the past couple of years.
