Austin independent game collective, Juegos Rancheros hosted a talk with Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP‘s Kris Piotrowski and Craig Adams. The entire talk was hosted by Adam ‘Atomic‘ Saltsman, creator of Canabalt.
If you can get past the occasional feedback, the hour long talk is packed with fascinating back stories, insight and ideas.
For instance, Ward is a huge Canabalt fan who regularly tops 15,000m. (He says he goes into a zen state when he plays.) He also says that if he makes an Adventure Time console game he wants to let persistent player break it.
Despite being a huge gamer, his biggest influence in creating the Cartoon Network show was Dungeons and Dragons, not any particular video game.
It’s a great video worth ignoring the technical glitches to take in, especially if you’re a fan of Canabalt, Sword and Sworcery or Adventure Time.
