Crytek Has “Fallen In Love” With Kinect

Yesterday we debated the performance of Kinect so far, and sort of agreed that it has come up short in the games department. Ryse by Crytek is part of Microsoft’s response to that problem. OXM spoke to Microsoft’s corporate vice-president Phil Spencer about the game and studio. Apparently Crytek has “fallen in love with Kinect”.

He also revealed that, roughly eight years ago, Microsoft discussed bringing Crytek in as a first-party developer.

“The first time we met with [Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli]and the team was around seven or eight years ago, and we started talking about what it’d mean for them to become first party,” said Spencer.

“… they were just going to do Crysis, and they’d just come out of Far Cry, and we said we’ve probably got enough military future shooters, so go do that.”
