Gears Of War: The Board Game Gets A Trailer

Spied at PAX East and spec’d out in May, Gears of War: The Board Game may not have a release date but there is mounting evidence that, against all odds, this is actually a thing.

This four-minute trailer, from maker Fantasy Flight Games, gives a detailed rundown of how players’ attributes are handled, how the maps are arranged, and how combat unfolds. It appears you may choose from several mission cards, configure and stock your map, and then get on with the shooting and the chainsawing. Custom dice handle the attacks and defences, and cards lay out what your characters carry and can do. There’s even an overkill attack mechanic.

Fantasy Flight does not yet have a release date for Gears of War: The Board Game other than “later this year”. C’mon, just ship the damn thing, you can handle any bugs with a patch post-release.
