iPhone And iPad’s Shift 2 Unleashed To Include EA Origin Mobile Extras

Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed on the iPhone and iPad will use Electronic Art’s new Origin online service, allowing players to access a universal friend’s list, as well as extra race tracks and in-game cash, the publisher said today.

EA showed off Origin Mobile today during their Summer Showcase, noting that players will have a universal sign in for all platforms including the iPhone, iPad, PC and Android. Once signed in players will be able to access a single, cross-platform friend’s list.

Shift 2 Unleashed, shown to demonstrate the new system, includes multiple gameplay modes, 40 cars, a new helmet cam and a leaderboard challenge that lets players race against friends’ best times.

At the end of a leaderboard challenge, a player’s time posts to Origin and, if you get the best time among your friends, they receive a push notification.

No word on when Origin Mobile or Shift 2 Unleashed hits.
