Skyward Sword's New Trailer Takes Flight

On the eve of Comic-Con, Nintendo has released this new, lengthy trailer for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

It's got pretty much everything you could ask for in a Zelda trailer. Fighting, flying, weird characters. Even Gorons!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the first proper Zelda game since 2006's Twilight Princess, and as such is, believe it or not, the first Zelda game designed specifically for the Wii console.

It'll be out later this year.

I'm sorry. I wasn't all that interested in this. Maybe a bit Zelda'd out. But having just last week replayed Ocarina of Time (on Wii), and then having watched that, I am pumped. That looked absolutely stunning. Wow. Really, they have outdone themselves. If this is indeed the Wii's swansong it will be a very pretty tune.

Really love what I've heard of the orchestrated soundtrack so far.

Is it fully orchestrated? Finally? Oh what a treat! The best, and most nostalgic, part of my Ocarina run was the soundtrack. Now I'm even more excited. Thanks Mark! (btw, any inside word on a release date?)

Just the end of this year...

          V. excited now.

Cheers. Funny how the Wii still seems to cop it for its perceived lack of games. I have recently been using mine A LOT. Admittedly some of that time has been Ocarina and long delayed runs of Pikmin 2 and Okami (which is beautiful but on which I am stuck grrrr), but even so, it's had a bit of a renaissance in my gaming sphere of late.

The criticism is warranted - this is basically the only game coming out in the last 18 months of the consoles life. That's appalling.

Thank goodness Zelda is mad popular and all the profit effectively goes to Nintendo vs. say Call of Duty where it goes to a 3rd party developer. Otherwise they'd be in a (more) dangerous position...

    Can. Not. Wait.

I'm really glad they went with this art style, it hides the Wii's flaws really well. Also, it's a small thing, but I love the logo (the stone/mossy triforce), brilliant.

ps. That special gold Wiimote they showed off will likely be bundled with this game, right?

When I first saw the art style I was totally underwhelmed - but it seems like it's seen a huge upgrade. It looks fantastic now. The expressions, the design.

      *swoons*

Absolutely agree with you mark, first I was totally meh on the style; now it's gorgeous.

...Except for those Moblins, they look so ugly and screwed up since day one.

Epic. Cannot wait for this. That goron character model looked particularly awesome as well.

The more I see of this game, the more the art direction grows on me. Really looking forward to starting a new Zelda adventure, it's been way too long since TP.

I only have one criticism of this trailer, and that's that it only shows about 5 seconds of footage that wasn't already part of the e3 one...

My loled when I clicked the 'HD' button in the video and it still looked exactly the same.

I'm pretty pumped for this, the graphics look like a mixture of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, so bright and colourful.
I've been replaying Twilight Princess in anticipation.

Ok, ok. I know this is wrong, but looking at the guy about 58 seconds in...

    Is that Rauru?

I'm sure it isn't, but the clothing and hair are a little reminisce, particularly the colouring, and the sage of light is supposed to be one of the oldest things around in OoT...

By Jove, you might be right! By no means an exact match, but they look VERY close, and, hell, they look more alike than Rauru and the owl who people think are one in the same.

I simply cant wait.. I keep saying it but I love the art style, I love the new items we have seen so far, I love the world they are trying to build.

This could be my favorite Zelda of all time! Bring it on.

Looks amazing. Art style is perfect for the limeted ablities of the wii. It always amazes me nintendos ablity to get great art out of limited hardware, pity third parties dont fare so well.

    Can't wait! :)

On another note, why does Link look like he's had a shot of Botox on his lip?

I'd be excited, but people who played it at E3 said it's an unpleasant wagglefest and I'm thoroughly turned off.

Shame that this trailer is made up of about 95% of the old trailers.
But at least I know Gorons are now in the game.
