So. Brisbane Meat, now with more Pessimism! And apparently nipples.

Saturday 23rd of July.
That’s less than two weeks away, eek!
I need to know whether lunchtime, afternoon or evening is better for people please.
And because TAY can often mutate into a monster here’s my email address again (smitemeisterathotmaildotcom) so it’s on Page 1. Anyone going should probably let me know by email so I can let you know my address when everything’s finalised.
-
I’m going to go ahead and flag that pdf as “NSFW”. Just a warning.
-
Sorry Tad! I assumed it was fine because DAN! Posted it last week when he made it and nobody screamed NSFW.
-
Nah it’s cool, I just want to warn people in case an “inquisitive” boss walks past at the exact wrong moment!
-
Nothing wrong with a nipple pizza, you Palestine.

I think you mean “Philistine”, you Philistine.

You mean panini, you panini.

I watched Master Of Disguise on the weekend.
These jokes remind me of that.
For shame AP.

I’ve not watched it, but could dress up as a turtle if it would fit with the theme.

This has the makings of a SitCom.
Vivica A Fox would play me.
And George Clooney on stilts would play me. It’d be perfect.
You edited that.
There was no stilts before.
For shame, Tadmod. For shame.
Or George Clooney sitting on the shoulders of Yao Ming!
As the humble guest I would like to provide snackery and/or beverages.
Will alcohol be consumed at this gathering or is it strictly a cottee’s cordial affair?

Arnott’s Shapes for $1.39 at Woolies from Wednesday!
Just buy a mountain of them, because really, who doesn’t like Shapes?-
One cannot just savoury biscuit into Brisbane.

I’ll be providing some alcohol to people who’d like to drink some. Obviously not silly quantities though, as my kids will probably be there too.
The amount and type of food will depend upon how I’m feeling the day and morning before the Meat. Unfortunately, I can’t make nipple pizza.

I shall assist with enough delicious sweet foods to give the combined turnout the diabetes.
Purchased from the store, of course. I’m so bad with food I turn cereal into a flambe affair.

I can make an appearance at any time.
I will never be able look at peperoni pizza again without being reminded of this 🙁

I have a similar problem with Skittles.
I won’t go into details… *shudder*-
Did you know, the gutting of a clown produces a shower of skittles from their colon. This is where skittles come from.

That’s weird; the last clown I gutted had a half-digested child.

Jeeves, why is there hair on my pizza?
I feel mean, I read the first line refrencing AnonymousPessimist and the next thing I noticed was the end of the link where it says half-sized.
Don’t worry Anon, on the inside your mine craft towers are as big as anyone’s! (and much more randomly shaped, all hail the giant rain catcher!)

You leave my giant glass plunger out of this!

Also does anyone anywhere care about Call of Jurez?

I’m interested to a degree. Having only seen the cover art I’m hoping that it’s not a run of the mill Western.
Gawt info?
I only wish I could’ve recorded that LoL match last weekend. I managed to kill all 5 of their team in under two minutes with my Warwick.
In other news I couldn’t play the ps3 to continue Dante’s Inferno cuz the step brother was hogging it with his occasional weekend visit, so in the end I started KOTOR2 with the “Fix-up” mod. So far it’s still a bit buggy but not as much as before which is good
-
If you had two boots (one for each foot) you probably could have killed all 5 of their team and solo’d all there turrets in less than half a minute. Its a pro strat, or so I hear…
-
ROFL I still can’t believe that person believed that when you tried to justify accidentally buying the boots twice! xD
-
-
HoN automatically saves every match to their servers so you can literally pull up a replay of every single match you have ever played. Just sayin’.

I love it.

I think we can all agree that the superior game is Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

According to Tadmod the superior game is the my little pony one he bought off steam over the weekend.

Guys… Two worlds II/Shogun II/Fable 3 on sale on steam.
Any of these worth getting?
-
Fable 3 has some amusing writing but as a game is rather ordinary. Not sure about the others.

I just bought the limited edition of Fable 3 for $37. From the reviews I read the gaming experience might match the price haha.

Shogun 2 yes but you can get it from overseas for $35ish if you’re okay with waiting for 2 weeks.

A LAN friday night and a bucks night on the saturday have hampered my attempts at tackling the shame. Last night however, I found an old backup with some game saves on there. This puts me at roughly %60 through New Vegas and %75 through Neverwinter Nights 2 so hopefully I’ll get through them now rather than starting from scratch.
Borderlands playdate tonight!
Everyone interested, assemble onto the TS server at 7:50pm tonight. From there we’ll split into even teams and go nuts.
We’re rolling fresh toons so that everyone can be on equal ground.
Don’t forget… Borderlands GOTY on sale on steam today! GO BAI, NO EXCUSES K:
http://store.steampowered.com/sale/borderlandssummer
-
Ill try and jump on…
-
Bummer, I have it on PS3.
I’ll buy it, but I doubt I’d have it DL’d and installed in time.-
yeah its 12 gb…
Also, I have it on PS3 so if we want to have another special ‘just friends’ gaming session, let me know..
-
Buy it… I’m setting up recurring Monday/Thursday Borderlands playdates so it’s going to be a regular thing.
Q-Bo is in the same boat, he’s currently DL’ing it. I’m off work this week so I’m cool with helping people catch up in levels (I heart teh borderlandses).
-
I left my PC on overnight to finish the download… all night it did a pathetic 500mb….. I’m still 2gb away from success! Steam, why must it go so slow!!???? *cranky pants*
-
Crazy, I also only dl’ed a small amount (1.6gb) last night… I thought it was due to my other downloads running but maybe something wacky happened with the steam servers?
-
It’s because of the sales. Steam always downloads slow during massive sales because so many people are downloading.
I’ll be able to play an hour or two of Borderlands tonight. Fresh toons is good because Borderlands is actually on my pile of shame and the highest toon I’ve got is level 5 or somthing.
I’ll be on the TS server listening to you guys but I wont be able to talk. I’ve got a headset but as I found out during the L4D2 playdate it doesn’t seem to want to project my voice. It recieves sounds fine but it struggles with sending them. Still trying to figure out why.

I’m working from 2200 so It’s probably not worth my jumping on for 30 min.

That’s cool, we’re playing on Thursday as well!
I finish up at work tomorrow, so if anyone wants to catch up in levels over the next week for the recurring games just drop me a line and we’ll grind away!
-
Hooray! I should actually be home Thursday!
-
I can play tonight!
But, I don’t have the TS server details. Would it be possible for me to get them, or shall I just hassle someone on Steam, tonight, before the game?
-
drop me a line at
the [dot] tsharp [at] gmail [dot] com
or holla at a brother when you jump on steam tonight.
I’ll be up for that.
I’ve only installed about half of the dlc, because it takes forever and destroy my machine slowly from the inside, will the remaining stuff be necessary, or will we be postponing all that stuff?
-
nah, we won’t need the DLC content until we’ve finished the main campaign so you have plenty of time.
It took me almost 2 hours to download and start playing Terraria over the weekend.
Because of Steam. What a great big pile of poo that seems to be. Why the hell do I have to go through multiple downloads and installations, just to be able to buy and play a game. And the download speed through Steam was ridiculous! I think it was a 16 meg d/l, at one point my PC said it was going to take over 1 day! Ended up being something like 15 – 20 minutes, which is still totally pathetic.
I didn’t have this problem with Minecraft! Think I’ll stick to my consoles, damn PC gaming…. 🙂
Terraria is really fun though, if a little frustrating.
-
I noticed Steam seemed to be really slow with downloads recently. I honestly think it’s the fact that the Summer Camp sale was on, and lots of people were downloading simultaneously.
-
Have you tried switching which download server you are using in the options?
I haven’t had any problems although last night was a different story (though this could have been due to the animes I was downloading).
Been averaging about 14-16gb of steam downloads each night.
-
Of course I didn’t think to try switching the download server, I just a dumb console gamer 😉
Thanks for the heads up, if I ever decided to buy a game through Steam again, which I highly doubt I will, I’ll definitely have a look at that.
-
Yeah AP – I don’t see why you got so worked up. Until now most devs have been happy to develop for console as is, mainly because of resources – but now you’re starting to see more and more devs getting frustrated by the limitations. That was my point really – there’s a bit of a sea change in attitudes. Developers are ready for the next step, and so are a lot of consumers.
-
Hello!
-
I don’t see why it’s newsworthy though?
Fair enough, most devs are happy to sit on the console bandwagon, but the fact that PC hardware far surpasses the xboxes/ps3s/wiis is hardly newsworthy. PCs were outperforming consoles years ago.
-
And to cover myself, whilst I practically live on a PC I’m not one of those ‘master race’ people.
The way the article was framed seems to imply that all of a sudden PC’s are these magical devices that consoles should look towards for their next iteration. -
The article was not framed in that way at all – I don’t know where you got that from:
To an extent Mark Rein is merely stating the obvious truth – console hardware is beginning to look increasingly dated in the face of PC technology, and while mainstream AAA development has been focused on console formats, there does appear to be an increasing need to move forward. This console generation has stretched farther than most would have predicted and this has been good for the growth of gaming as an industry…
But are we ready for the next generation of consoles? Being perfectly honest, I think we are.
It was framed in a ‘consoles have fallen behind, devs were happy to create games with less resources, now it’s reached a point where we need new console hardware’ angle.
But whatever. It was just the way you came in, dropped four comments in quick succession bagging out the story and the quote that irritated me. I think you have a fair point though.
-
Yes, my comments were brash and in hindsight 4 of them weren’t needed to make my thoughts known.
You do have a valid point. To anyone who has been keeping up with hardware trends the glaring lack of power on consoles these days is fairly obvious, however.
Ultimately the game developers are at the mercy of Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. Despite game dev’s thoughts on the matter we are stuck with the lifecycles of each console that are ultimately determined by these 3 companies. -
*offers serrels 8 bit olive branch of apology*
-
This whole thing reminds me of an argument I had last night with my wife where I was wrong but just kept on talking.
Thanks for you patience old bean!
-
You know Mark, your endless patience has time and time again reiterated why you are the editor of Kotaku – you are always willing to sit down and explain your point so logically, I find myself swayed by your words more often then not.
Your method in dealing with elitists such as AP and myself is inspiring. Respect.
-
You’re too kind. Legitimately!
-
-
That’s cool, I daresay had I not made my thoughts blatantly known through 4 capslocked posts we could have had a much more productive discussion over the current state of consoles.
I skim read and saw red at what I felt was a blatantly obvious notion, and jumped on it with not a lot of tact or consideration 🙁 -

I couldn’t help myself, the grin I wore made it to my ears! Yeah… it was Roadkill… I completed all the extreme tracks ages ago, now so far have gotten gold or higher on all beginner, easy and medium tracks. Trying to decide whether to attempt golding the hards now, or going back and getting platinum on all the golds I’ve done…

I’m back from New Zealand. Got home late last night. It was a good trip but it was raining almost the entire time.
Went to see Cars 2 with my 4 year old cousin while over there. I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t Pixars usual quality but as far as kids films go it was pretty good. The graphics and animation was quite nice.
I played catch up on Kotaku last night after I got home. Read through 25 pages of stories, though I didn’t read every single story, and then of to bed. Because it would be stupid of me to reply to days old stories I’m going to post my thoughts on several of the stories from the last week here. I know no one will really care but I’m an opinionated person and like my views being out there for the world to laugh at.
First up a reply to Halo CE remake about the 18 year old kids not playing the original. I’m 19 and I played it when it came out. It was my first fps and one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. I’m really looking forward to playing it again on 360.
Next I’ll reply to the ME movie thing. I love ME but I can’t say I’m looking forward to the movie because, simply, the Commander Shepard up on the big screen wont be my Commander Shepard. The movie Shepard will be completely different from the Shepard I’ve been following all these years. Ignoring things like gender, I play a femShep and you just know movie Sheps going to be male, and appearance the personality and choice making will likely be way off. The film Shepard could end up doing things I don’t think the real Shepard would ever do but because it happened in the movie it’s going to be considered canon in the ME universe.
Next reply is about the Dragon Age 2 dlc. I’m exited for some DA2 dlc because I loved the game but I also don’t really like what I’m hearing with talk of more tactic based combat. One of the things I really liked about DA2 and I thought was a huge improvment over Origin was the move away from tactic based combat. I liked that I wasn’t always pausing the game or jumping around from character to character. I liked being able to spend the whole game playing as Hawke instead of having to just sit on a mage companion and spam spells. Apart from not being all the fun it also broke immersion. I should be playing as my character damn it not NPCs. BioWare moving back towards tactics for the series worries me. I’d much prefer a move in the opposite direction and make the game even more action based. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still play the dlc and DA3, it’s just I wont be enjoying them as much as I would have with a more action oriented combat system.
It’s been nice seeing a few Secret World posts pop up the past week. I’ve been keeping an eye on the game for years but it’s seemed like Funcom hasn’t been making much progress. Glad to see they’re still chugging along.
That’s all for replies from me. As I was reading posts last night I kept making mental notes telling myself to remember to leave a comment about a certain story and I’m sure I’ve forgotten half of what I was going to write. Lucky for you guys I guess.
So how’s everyone else been doing? I haven’t read any of last weeks TAY. Anything major and groundbreaking happen or was it same old same old?
-
Hi DW!
We missed you – here, help yourself to some potato chips.
I agree on the ME movie front. It sort of flies in the face of the entire concept of ME. Pigeonholing the story and characters into what the director thinks is going to ruin ME for me. My Shephard is an absolute evil SOB and that’s just the way I like him. I’d rather people stop trying to turn game franchises into movies as it feels like a cash grab 9/10 times.
Like the space invaders movie.
Srsly, wtf hollywood.

Mark Rein – idiot.
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/07/mark-rein-pcs-can-simulate-the-future/
You can see my all-caps posts to that effect in the comments.
Good to see that Epic employs people who can state the blindingly obvious.
-
“Idiot” is a pretty strong word. I don’t know anything about Mark Rein, but I wouldn’t say that that article makes him seem an idiot at all.
He was obviously asked a question as to whether he thinks consoles are the future and his answer, although obvious to some, overlooked by others, is that PCs will always be much more capable than consoles.
-
Then the article frames him as mentally handicapped.
-
-
OMG
HE IS LIKE THE NEXT NOSTRADAMUS
WHERE DOES HE GET HIS POWERS FROM???? -
So I was a bit too hasty to criticize this article – further discussion up above for those who missed it.
-
Nah, I was just butthurt. My bad.
-
I do think I missed the bigger point of the article, which is that Game Devs are also starting to push for more powerful consoles.
-
I think that the new hardware is being shopped round developers.
Six months ago they were all talking about how there was no need for new consoles… but now the big companies are talking about how much it’s needed.I’m saying the hardware exists.
I don’t know if we need graphical improvements… but I’d hope for increased storage, and major advances in AI.
-
-
-
I miss having games to look forward to that aren’t sequels.
-
I miss having games to look forward to, period.
2011 has been a pretty mediocre year for games. Lots of over-hyped releases.
-
I’m mostly looking forward to Skyrim and Dark Souls, which isn’t technically a sequel but close enough.
-
Skyrim is another matter entirely.
I’ve built a shrine to Skyrim in my room with incense and candles and pictures of the devs.
-
And then you do the ‘put a ring on it’ dance in front of them? How have those devs not beaten your door down to get at your abs!??

I really don’t know Q-Bo, I ask myself that very same question every day.

Finished off Dead Space 2 on the weekend. This has raised an interesting question regarding Shameless Gaming Month:
Do I get to remove Dead Space 2 from my pile of shame now that it is finished? The reason I ask is that I have the collector’s edition which also includes Dead Space Extraction as a bonus. So does DSE constitute it’s own entry in the pile of shame, or is it inextricably linked to DS2 by virtue of being part of the same package on the same disc? If they’re joined by a bond that cannot be broken then DS2 must remain on the pile of shame until I complete the associated DSE. And I’m not sure if I’ll even WANT to play DSE all the way through, since it seems like a bit of a pain to play without a Move controller. Have my attempts to remove DS2 from the pile of shame all been in vain?
-
The rules are incredibly loose but generally, if you are satisfied that you are done with a game, you can remove it from your pile of shame.
Also, I’d just count DS2 and DSE as separate entities.
-
You answered your own question. Extraction is a bonus so is not included in finishing Dead Space 2. also, as bonus content rather than a separate game you bought it probably shouldn’t even be included on your pile of shame.
Been playing a bit of Minecraft. Farmed a bit of Obsidian and made a portal into the Nether which was a bit anti-climactic. The unfortunate thing is it’s all single player, so you’re kind of making your own fun, and after a while it gets a bit tired.
The next update sounds pretty cool though with NPC villages and biomes etc..
Definitely keen to do a bit of multi player when the server is back up and running.
-
Server is up and running now Exploderlicious!
Send me an email jeffkent at pacific dot net dot au and I should be able to get you access on the server. Just will need your username to put you on the whitelist. Oh, same for you too Lucifer/numbers!-

Can you or Blaghsy magick things into existence yet?
Because sticky piston time, wooooooo!-
There are sticky pistons as well as normal pistons?
-
If you know what I mean.
-
By which I mean yes.
Normal pistons are good for pushing things or blocking things off, but sticky pistons are where the real fun (and horribly convoluted circuits) are. Hidden passageways and all that jazz.
-
-
-
We can ‘magic’ things yes, but, sticky pistons are not in our list of hand out goodies. But we do have the powers needed to gift the parts required to build them, but it will be more fun trying to make them from scratch, yes? (until it becomes to hard, and the building too grand 😉 )
-
I’ve never, ever come across a Slime.
🙁 -
In all the time I’ve been building that giant cavern at the bottom of my tower I haven’t seen a single slime. Though I read up on them and apparently they can only spawn on 10 % of the chunks on the bottom 14 levers where there is room.
My cavern fits the last two conditions but the 10% is randomly decided and the only way to know is when a slime spawns.
PS: I’ve instructed my best friend (handle: Pyrean) to introduce himself and join in on TAY but he was working until 8 am so it’ll probably be past TAY time when he wakes up today.
If he does start talking you can ask him about his Word of Warcraft account being hacked. He might not know about it yet, his sister just informed me and is trying to contact him still. All their stuff is gone.
-
If they contact the devs they can restore all their stuff for them – similar thing happened to me guild a while back and we recovered everything.
Also, get them to change their bank account details and any other important credentials – when our guild got hacked the guy’s account that had been used also had attempts made to log into his bank account.
-
-
Seriously? Maybe you should venture down into my mine because I’ve come across a few already. The first time I encountered one I was in shock – it was like, 3 blocks high or something and bouncing erratically.
Then I whipped out my bow. GG.
-
“Then I whipped out my bow” – I read the start of that sentence with high expectations.
I was disappoint.
-
If you do too much damage per hit they don’t break into smaller ones, only the smallest ones drop slime balls (neede to make pistions sticky [AnonPes, don’t think dirty]) I found even a stone sword is too much, not sure a about a bow though.
I just sit find someonere only 1 block wide (the big ones can’t fit though) and punch them when they can’t punch me.
-
I think I went down into your mine once.
Then I got lost.
And then I was told I was possibly in Pessimist’s mine.
Which did not help the fact that I was lost.
I originally started out in Gorzy’s mine too.
And then I logged out.
And later when I logged back in, I was even more lost because there was no one on the server to teleport to.
I wandered around a bit more and cried in a well-lit corner.
/o\ -
I don’t have a mine. Well I have a giant hole at the bottom of my tower that I’ve been treating as a mine by making it bigger but it’s kinda had to get lost there.
I have, however, borken into a rediciously convloluted series of natural caves in which it is easy to get completly lost and I’ve mounted many an expiditoin to attempt to light the whole place up.
I’ve now also broken into Harli/Anon’s mine which must makes it even worse.

Bish is very much correct, my Minecraft name is infact 9783

You know what? That actually looks really comfy.
Next LAN game we’re at… bring duct tape.

LOL! OMG, that is epic. It totally makes SGL look tame in comparison.
My boss is on leave so I’m doing his work and my work for the next few days. Goodbye precious Kotaku time! Next place I work at best have a dedicated “read Kotaku” clause in my contract.

There’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just gonna say it: I have more APM in foosball than I do in Starcraft II.
-
I’m glad I don’t look at my APM when I’m playing. Not sure you even can during campaign.
I wonder how typing speed translates to APM. I think words are on average 4, maybe 5, characters long. So 100wpm would be a ridiculous 400-500 APM.
I can type at over 100wpm (yay TypeRacer!) so surely I can out APM anyone in Grand Masters with their meagre ~300 APM.

Brb – Going to learn how to ride a bike.
So Saturday, me and my mate decided to make what we called a cookie calzone. We got a whole tube of cookie dough
and flattened it out, chopped up chocolates, spread peanut butter on top of the cookie dough then put the chocolate on top and wrapped it all up like so: http://twitpic.com/5ncwn1
Next we baked it and then consumed it!
http://twitpic.com/5ndg39 This is me with the delicioua treat which was delicious…then 10 or so bites in it turned into something horrible…but I’d say either way I declare it a win for my tastebuds.
-
I think the important thing to note here is that you didn’t save any for me.
-
Yes.
-
Saw the pics on twitter, ZOMG, sounds delicious i don’t care if it gets sickening and nmmmhhgghghhghghhhghgh *foams at mouth*

We should host a mad cook-off, Iron chef styles.
-
Or Iron Cook style
“SOYLENT… GREOOOOH!”
-
Can I be the oddly overenthusiastic host who bites into the capsicum in the intro and then realises taking a bite out of a raw capsicum probably isn’t a smart idea because it has seeds and stuff but they’re still rolling so I can’t spit it out so I cover my attempt at retching with a gentle smile to make people think I enjoy eating raw capsicum?
-
I don’t know man, do you see that smile?
He looks like the happiest guy ever. It’s kind of depressing to think that we won’t ever be as happy as Chairman Kaga biting into a capsicum. -
My favourite part is the core.
I bet he bit into the core. That bit is delightful.
-
You should have seen the King of Iron Chef episodes.
Dude was standing out in the pouring rain. He pulls a capsicum out from under his cape, and bites into it.
At that moment, he is in bliss. -
It’s good to always keep your capsicums under your cape.
Keeps it fresh. The man clearly knows what he is doing.
-
-
-
You know Chairman Kaga now voices Golbez in the Japanese Final Fantasy games?
It’s an… interesting career switch, to say the least.
What is he actually the chairman of?
I don’t see him do anything useful other than gesturing and speaking far too loudly.
He’s Chairman of the Gourmet Academy.
I thought that was pretty obvious. You clearly don’t watch enough Iron Chef.
But what does the gourmet academy do? What is their purpose?
I don’t ever sit there and go ‘you know what, I should go to the gourmet academy and learn me some cooking skills’.
In fact, I’ve never seen the man cook. I’ve never seen him touch food apart from fondling capsicums.
What’s his deal?
He’s a genius, is what his deal is.
As the story from the introduction goes, having immense wealth, he decided to create Kitchen Stadium to encounter new, original cuisines.
He created an entire cooking competition just so he could eat tasty things. And that is why he’s a genius.
This post = win.
This only leaves me with more questions.
The actor’s name is Takeshi Kaga. According to the interwebs, he once “played the role of Jesus in the Japanese stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar (1976)”
I well and truly laughed out loud.
OM NOM NOM
I hope the secret ingredient is bacon. Actually i hope the only ingredient is bacon.
This entire conversation just made me lol uproariously. 😀
I’m sick.
Lavish sympathy upon me!
LAVISH!
Now excuse my. I have a lung that requires being coughed up.
-
I only have these Lavosh biscuits.
Will they do?
-
Ugh. Dana Carvey would be turning in his grave!
-
I don’t even… wat?
-
Well?
I still don’t see how this ties in with lavosh biscuits.
Unless this is all a ploy to get my lavosh biscuits.
Are you after my biscuits?

But you are a repairer of humans Dr What? are you not? Can you not simply fix yourself?
Get well soon. I heard chicken soup cures EVERYTHING!

Chicken soup? What is this, the middle ages?
Tea, leeches, jelly beans and amputation. If one of those can’t cure you, there’s simply no hope left.

He clearly has too much black bile.
The humours man, his problem is with the humours!

I know some Mexican doctors who wouldn’t mind taking that lung off your hands!

-
Nice!
Will have to take a look and add it to my rather large (but awesome) ‘to-watch’ list.
So much good anime to get through… tis awesome.
-
Know of any good ones?
My friend at school & I exchange anime to watch, but since I’m on break I can’t really watch any new ones
-
Depends on what you’re into!
If you haven’t seen the Satoshi Kon movies they are probably the best place to start – Mr. What? Put me onto them and they are amazing (in fact, he is responsible for getting me onto some of the awesome series underneath – he’s the guru of anime/manga).
In order:
Tokyo Godfathers
Perfect Blue
Millenium Actress
PaprikaThen, if you want some good series to sink your teeth into:
Samurai Champloo
Ergo Proxy
Gunslinger Girls
Elfen Lied
Gasaraki
FMA Brotherhood (way better than the original)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Paranoia AgentThis is assuming you haven’t schooled yourself on all the classic series like cowboy bebop, bubblegum crisis, trigun etc.
-
My main problem with FMA Brotherhood is the pacing.
Don’t get me wrong, it was better in pretty much every way to the original anime, but. When it came to certain characters, for instance, Hughes, I felt a much greater connection to them in the first one, as it spent far more time on them.
Personally, I’d recommend watching at least the first half of the original FMA series.
-
Nice list! I second the Satoshi Kon suggestion, especially Paranoia Agent which is just all kinds of awesome. Actually, all the movies are too. Just go watch them all really.
-
I still haven’t seen Paranoia Agent. Have to rectify this.

My iPhone’s battery was lasting barely any length of time at all, so I went and got the whole thing replaced on the weekend.
Now I’m trying to charge my phone at work and it doesn’t seem to want to. Methinks the cable is buggered.
Hopefully it wasn’t the buggered cable that was causing my issues to begin with. I doubt it, but is still irritating.
Hello TAYpers! I have finally removed my sickness and am able to comment again!

Seems totally worth it.
-
Geez, I only spent six-and-a-half hours crying after my first time, I thought that was bad, but five days?
Wow.

I didn’t follow a single line in that conversation.
I never get what you crazy kids are rambling on about these days.

I’m alive! Alive I tell you alive!
My weekend was pretty much filled with etherlords 2 for some reason. Trying to work my way through a boy and his blob too (thanks to sughly;).
I been out and about scouting this morning, and came across some nice deals. Just thought I’d throw the feelers out there, but anyone interested in a Samsung Colour Laser Printer for $190 with 1yr warranty, gimme a holler!
-
Is it possible to purchase the ‘colour laser’ and you keep the ‘printer’? I would like a laser…
-
THAT IS NOT HOW A LASER PRINTER WORKS.
-
Read that in the voice of morbo for maximum effect.
-
+1 fer tah lulz

“LASER PRINTERS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY! GOODNIGHT!”

Yay! You’re alive!
Don’t forget the ‘hug’ button in Boy and his Blob. Hugging is missing from too many games. -
Don’t you mean “Active”? 😉
Ahoy-hoy,
Pineapples July is but leaves on a stream, like the too fast subtitles on that Russian television show with that girl I like that is also Russian, like my colleague eating the last of the chocolate cake while I was selling loose cigarettes to the polite vagabonds in the laneway out back, like that CD i put on the roof of my car before the 6 hour drive to the farmhouse – Pineapples July escapes me like Earth did that dog that got sent into space on a one-way ticket to some place too far away from his blanket, ball and biscuits; another dead hero lost to dreams and dangerous science.
But Pineapples July “is”, it just “is” . . . there is nothing more – and there is no return from that kind of dead-certainty and you don’t need to tell that to the space dogs and their empty blankets back home.
What does it mean when you dream that you’re falling? Just once I want to hit the ground, just once I want to reach the inevitable conclusion like everything always does, just once I want to be the space dog, just once I want to look dead-certainty in the eye with the kind of envy, melancholy and regret that only Jennifer Anniston knows. Where do you go after Brad Pitt? Answer me that. You can’t, there is no answer, there is nothing, nowhere.
Pineapples July? I’m getting to that. Glad you asked. Thank you. I can see you’re the kind of person I can trust. I need to be careful, it’s almost August and you know what that means. The secret code is: “the sun bear looks behind waterfalls for rainbow trout upon mountain rivers”, you’ll know when to use it: when the levy breaks, at the eleventh hour, know that it will be a last minute consideration, an impulse, muscle reflex – write it down, but don’t remember it – trust no one, forget everything. Except for the honey badgers, remember the honey badgers – write that down if you have to.
I’ve spent most of the week driving around in a Land-Cruiser. I haven’t seen anyone in a week and fear the isolation is leading to some kind of cabin fever type scenario. There are other people here though, I’m not imagining things – and I’d politely ask you to withdraw the accusation lest my good name be held in bad light and surging turmoil upon the dangerous oceans of public record. At 4pm everyday there is an explosion at a nearby open-cut mine and its everyday pattern of repetitive, hopeless banality reminds me of life and other real world considerations. I don’t always remain in sound mind and on the straight and narrow, but when I do I prefer to do it with the help of industrial-grade explosives.
What am I looking for? Thank you for asking, but your questioning is making me nervous the closer we get to the point of no return. I’m on the lookout for lithium, you know, pegmatitc minerals and the like. And this place is all about the pegmatic minerals; why, even now I can feel them filling my lungs and delivering me from this intoxicating isolation sickness.
Alone out here, I despair and laugh aloud at things I think about and my breath glistens with a sparkling lithium cloud like a shimmering Elle Macpherson unfurling the headsail for clear passage to Kokomo. We’ll get there fast and then take it slow, that’s where I want to go.
I drive on the biggest dirt road you’ve ever seen – did I ever tell you that? Maybe not. Maybe you’ve seen an even bigger dirt road that you’re not telling me about. You haven’t seen a bigger dirt; forget about it. This is the biggest dirt road in the world; it even has a locked gate so you know it means business. I have the key to the dirt road so that means I can do pretty much whatever I like. There are no rules on the dirt road because, it’s like, if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it then does it even make it sound anyway? No. The point is I’m not going to even get caught so there’s no point even talking about it. What happens on the road stays on the road – it’s always been that way.
Pineapples July escapes me, but I already told you about that. Most of my spare time is spent watching men with enormous legs ride roughshod across France; this is the greatest sporting event of all time and I expect no criticism or treasonous, destructive words to the contrary. Tour de France is everything. You even learn to speak french along the way is the good thing. Words like “arierre”, “tete” and “peloton” are as familiar to me now as Lucky Stars and Madonna’s brand of effervescent pop music.
After seven days alone in this desert I take solace in the simple pleasure of talking to myself in French. I pretend I’m in the French Foreign Legion, saving the world one last time before the end of all things in some kind of Old West showdown at sunset with horses and Cuban tobacco. And I’m not entirely certain on the matter, but I think foreign language words don’t have any real meaning . . . so you can pretty much use them however you like, wherever you like – that’s the best part about it really. Just make it up as you go along. Just dance the way you feel; none of this is real. France is an imaginary place too anyway – so you can just go crazy and invent any kind of meaning you can think of. Alone and unaccountable is where all meaning is lost to ash and dust. And that’s why the Tour De France is the best, and that’s why I like to imagine I’m in the French Foreign Legion, and that’s why Thor Hushovd is the best name ever. And then? I don’t know what then.
Fact: I have finished Bulletstorm, it made me a lot more dumb and I thank it for that; thinking is a mistake and dangerous like buying a new can of silly string and using it all at once in quiet, sullen rage on the Jungle Safari roller coaster ride after your girlfriend tells you it’s time to go home. Who even goes home before they’ve used up all their spending money? Nobody, life’s not like that.
But Bulletstorm was fun, I liked sliding down hills. You can even slide uphills in Bulletstorm, but that isn’t as good. Sliding isn’t the best part of the game; sliding is the game.
“And the rest is gravy”, as they say. There isn’t actually any gravy. Think of gravy as a purely illustrative mechanism, not as tangible identity.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The Pineapples July Report: Thursday 11, 2011.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
THE PINEAPPLES And What They Mean –
1. Bulletstorm: Makes you dumb, sliding down hills is super. Phallic reinterpretation of classic revenge tale.
Status:
Done & dusted, I will never play this game ever, ever again.
2. The Ballad of Gay Tony:
A GTAIV episode. Probably the best game ever. GTAIV is what it is: a historic, monumental achievement and a stratospheric ode to New York in the very beginning of a new century. Historians will play this game with shock and awe, and relive a long since forgotten place and time perfectly illustrated forever. Profound. Compelling. Timeless. Genre defining. Masterpiece.
Status:
Undone, I will play this game again and again and whenever I feel like visiting New York, or reminding myself of the true potential of interactive media. Should be complete (for the first time) by the end of this week.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
I don’t always look for pegmatite, but when I do I eat Heinz tinned creamed rice,
Plainview.
-
I’ll have one of whatever you just took.
Also, the Tour is awesome. I’ve been following it for a while now and it’s always entertaining. Sure, all the riders are juiced up to their eyeballs but it makes for a great spectacle, so I can’t complain.
-
I’m going to be haunted by honey badgers now.
Also I feel it’s my duty to report that a lot of people around here thought Dawdle’s Bawble was responsible for the Pineapples but I knew all along it was you.
*quickly checks in case honey badgers are sneaking up on her*-
…what?
-
-
Plainview my friend, it is good to hear from you again. I have however come across a question, a query, but not a quotation, for you. Well, I’ll admit, it is almost certainly a quotation, but as the young confused man that I am, I simply don’t know where from. I may have asked you this before, I cannot recall, but, why “Plainview?” To look upon your words is to become engaged in a whirling maelstrom of beauty. Like staring at the sun, you know you should look away, do something else, but you just can’t. The burning draws you in, latches onto you. Your words are not plain, and to view them is certainly not, so does your title reflect yourself? Are you really just a plain man, to look at, of course, clearly you are not plain in terms of mind or ability. But yes, are you physically plain? Or are you, like so many of us here, simply hiding yourself through a pseudonym, one that does not reflect your true self?
I do not wish to pry, my good friend, I simply wish to know.
Yours truly,
Blaghman.-
Normally the pain of looking at the sun stops me
-
You mean other people don’t spend three hours staring at the sun?
Oh.
That might explain why I need glasses…
(Not really because I have them for Myopia, which is a whole different matter, but shutup)-
If you wear glasses at the right angle and look into the sun, would that sort of be like a cheap version of laser eye surgery?
-
-
Didn’t stop Isaac Newton.
-
-
-
That was supposed to be a reply to the sun discussion 😛
-
And I found this while trying to look for the other link, made me laugh
Did anyone order Infamous 2 or Alice from Zavvi? Have you received them yet?
I’m still waiting on my copies 🙁
-
Zavvi hate me. First time I ordered from them, RDR came after 3 weeks in a cracked case. Every order from them takes at least 3 weeks, so I mainly stick to ozgameshop. Though it seems the reverse happens to others here.
-
I ordered a thing on the 13th of June, and it came on the 30th.
-
Ordered 16/6.
Despatched 23/6.
Received ??/?.-
Profit ??/!!!!
Yeah, i’unno. Maybe you’ve got the same problem as the What and his mysterious disappearing packages.
I know the whole not being able to do anything but wait stings, but hey, looks like you get to have more private time with Trauma Center judging by the post below.
Oh man, and that ending of Alice.
Dat ending.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

I had a sick weekend without the family, which gave me nothing to do but game. It was horrible (if the family is reading), but pretty awesome also.
Starting Friday afternoon, and finishing Sunday afternoon, I 100%’d LA Noire. So, James Mac, you may now consider it gone from (y)our pile of shame! I’m sorry you didn’t like it, but man, I really really loved it.
The story was brilliant noir, almost like a game adaptation of LA Confidential.
First game I’ve EVER got every achievement for, though came soooo close with Oblivion (damn Shivering Isles branching achievements!).
Also played through the 20 minute campaign of TMNT Smash Up, realised how badly it sucked, and put it aside forever.
Today, picked up Darksiders and slashed my way through to the final dungeon. Family’s home now, but I think I’ll try to finish the game after they all go to bed…
Games sliced out of my pineapple thus far:
1. Bully (360)
2. LA Noire (360)
3. TMNT Smash Up (PS2)
-
How is bully? I picked it up on the steam sales and it looked pretty cool.
-
I really enjoyed it. It’s on the same engine as San Andreas, but you’ll be disappointed if you expect a GTA game. It’s got some similarities but it’s definitely its own interesting beast.
Love that Rockstar is exploring new ways to do open world (Bully, LA Noire, etc)! If nothing else, Bully is worth playing just to appreciate its uniqueness.
-
Oh yeah, it’s also not at all challenging.
-
-
It’s a decent game, the humour can actually be pretty funny.
-
Gotta love jumping out of rubbish bins in front of girls to make out with them. Apparently chocolates can overcome any apprehension girls feel towards you and your hygiene.
-
+1 to this. Bits of it are damn funny.
-
-
-
You’re a scholar and a gentleman…
What’s your next choice from
myour pile of shame?
Today has had a distinct lack of Chuloopa.
Where is that sexy bastard?

Imma call you the Price Ninja.

Why do you show me this now!! I bought a Kinect on the weekend. Could have saved $65 bucks DAM IT!
Thats what happens when your wife decides I want to buy it today. But I guess my nearest game store is about a 40 minute drive away so I saved time.
…. if time=money then that means, 80-65=15
Hey I just saved $15 Woohoo!
Yay, work placement started. Came in. Learned the ways of the coffee machine. Got a laptop. No one knew the password. Proceeded to install Win7. Goto lunch. Did nothing at all for the second half of the day, as the people responsible for me were sick/away working on a client project.
And yet, I am tired. My laziness knows no bounds. I guess I’ll have to reserve all my TAY-ing when I get back home. Oh man. No more waking up at 11 and then playing Mass Effect 2!
Good TAY, TAYbies.
My month of shameless gaming came to a depressing, shameful halt after trying to get Bioshock working on W7 for 3 hours, with helpful cameo from the Pessimist.
My other goal was DA:O but… yeah. I feel like I overslept and missed the race. So now I go to the pub and drink away my sorrows with Just Cause 2, which as someone said earlier, has a ridiculous non-story (like the action movies it emulates) but is stupid fun.
I’ll try and keep up this week TAYbies 🙂
Just picked up Terreria for $5, and gifted a friend Just Cause 2 for $5…
Thanks, Steam.
-
Aaannd now I’ve found Rain slick Precipice of Darkness episodes 1 and 2 for under $2.
Curse you and your summer sales, Steam! -
Magicka (and then I bought Magicka + all expansions for $8.50 last night making my initial purchase a waste) and Worms were my only purchases. Both are multiplayer games so I’m not counting them towards my pile of shame. Huzzah!
Happy Tuesday, TAYbies,
8:00 am here in SA, and I am ready to be bored out of my mind with homework, and the occasional read through TAY.
Be sure to keep the week interesting.

So!
What’s the Steam damage?
I know some of you have craaaaaazy Steam lists just from looking at the Community tab and seeing things like “Anonymous Pessimist now owns [TEN MILLION WARHAMMER 40k GAMES]”, but I’ll list mine off (There’s a Transactions tab in Steam in the top right when you click on [Username]’s Account):
Dreamfall
Deus Ex (2x gifts because everyone needs to have played this game)
Frozen Synapse
Jamestown
King’s Bounty Collection
Lara Croft Guardian of Light
Longest Journey
Magicka
Penny Arcade pack
Sanctum
Shogun 2 DLC
Total: Only $57.86 USD! Not bad at all, since other people I talk to seem to spend over $100.
-
I tried to buy as little as possible but ended up getting the following:
Terraria
Magika Collection
Monday Night Combat <— Was very pissed to find out my stupid laptop can't even run it properly 🙁Man i realllly need a new computer.. lol
-
I hear Welbot can build you a badass machine!
-
-
This just about says it all…
http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb449/lamboman007/steamtakeover.jpg -
By the way – when i saw that there was a Dark Angels DLC pack for Dawn of War 2, i shat myself!!
My god it was soooo awesome!!!*swoons*
-
I also picked it up 😀
I saw it and there was really nothing to decide. GORRAM DARK ANGELS. PURCHASED.
-
-
Borderlands (plus all expansions)
X2: The Threat
X3: Reunion
X3: Terran Conflict
X: Beyond the Frontier
X-Tension
Poker Night at the Inventory
Sanctum
Men of War: Assault Squad
Killing Floor
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
Frozen SynapseMy new purchase list sucks a bit as I’d just bought several of the games I wanted before the sale kicked in.
-
Those are some solid purchases!
I’ve had X3 for ages but I’ve never set aside the time to figure out htf to play it. Those who have keep raving about how good and open-ended it is. Might need a kotaku group to trade tips/secrets?
-
-
Yeah, I now own all the DOW games 😀
Picked up retribution yesterday with all the DLC. Really excited about the Dark Angels DLC in particular considering I had a ridiculously huge Dark Angels army when I collected 40k (Well over 3,000 points from memory, close to 4k).
-
I got a Borderlands 4 pack and a copy of BFBC2 plus Vietnam. I was very happy with that shopping spree. Some great games for basically the cost of lunch.
I’ve been playing Trauma Center: Second Opinion and it seems like my love for the original is not sustaining me through this.
It is hard. I expected that. But I did two luck based missions last night, Something Precious and An Explosive Patient, and goddamn did they test my limited patience.
The controls are no where near as responsive as the DS version and that comes largely down to the Wiimote just not being up to the task. Throw in the fact that my usual tactic vs Deftera (abusing antibiotic gel to get the damned things to not be a pain) actually makes your vitals drop like a whale that has found itself high in the air, and you have one sad panda.
Well, not sad. Angry.
Very angry.

Hey guys – sorry for my absence. I have been crazy busy and i’m trying to get this typed up before the boss comes in
So The meet on Saturday – i’m still trying to work out where we can meet up that will be decent enoug hthat we can actually sit down and chat on a saturday evening.
I’ve decided we’ll be meeting at around 7.30 pm somewhere on Brunswick street, near Mana Bar.
The plan is to sit around and get to know each other for an hour or so before heading off to Mana Bar.
We’ll TRY and get into Mana, but if all else fails we’ll just kick into effect plan B and either head for bowling, or possibly to one of my favorites – the night cat, an EXCELLENT jazz club… then again you guys probably hate jazz clubs.. so probably bowling if there’s a place near by lol
Anyone know the area well?
-
I never been that way before so I got no clue on how to get there :P. However it looks like I could Tram in via the CBD, which’ll make it much easier for me to make it.
Other than that, I’m fine with the plan Loops. Should I wear some kind of name tag so that I could be recognised? xD
-
I’m pretty sure you will be the only one of your kind, robot. A name tag would be redundant. 😛
-
Well if you come say hello to me and I greet you back with “human” in the sentence, you’ll know it’s me 😛
-
-
-
It all sounds good, loops. And I love my jazz bars. Used to hang out at the Limelight in Geelong every night when it first opened (worked 30 seconds away so it was perfect).
My mate does. He lurks on Kotaku so I might see if I can get him to chime in.
-
Little Creatures bar is in that area, but I hear it gets very busy.
Here’s some of the bars in the area

Melbourne is boring.
Hurry up and come to Sydney. All the cool kids live here.

Kidding!
…Q-Bo lives in Melbourne.

So. I am now 35 years old. Eek! Thankfully I still look 25. 😛
Upon finding out it was my birthday my son had only one thought “Are we gonna have cake?!”. This is a valid thought. I approve.
-
Dammit, I knew I’d forget to change my name back. Oh well, I’m old, I’m allowed to forget stuff!
-
-
I approve of this cake spoon.
Also, Happy Birthday Strange!
-
-
Can I also have cake?
-
-
Happy Birthday Normal/Strange human, I hope the cake will be very delicious and you get great gifts, too bad I can’t have any of that delicious cake 🙂
-
You son clearly understands the true purpose of the birthday celebration. You have raised him well.
Also, congratulations on successfully aging.
-
Happy birthday!
-
So… Are we gonna have cake?!
-
Sorry, I zoned out at cake.
Cake?
I like cake. Can we have cake? Where is Cakesmith?-
Also, Happy Birthday!
\o/-
Also also, cake.
-
Did you say cake?
-
Wait, wait, cake?
-
There’s cake?!

Happy birthday Strange.. Damn, you do look 25 don’t you *non creepy married man comment*…
Hope you have a great day and equally great cake. I will go home and have cake to celebrate for you tonight.
Grats!
Happy B’day Strange! LittleJJ and I wish you the best for your milestone! 😉 Hope it’s been a pleasant day for you 🙂
Happy Birthday Mum!!!! (sorry, running late on TAY!)
For those eagerly awaiting Space Marine
GAMEPLAY!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLHtqI8CEDo
You may have seen it before.. but maybe not
Also, the official Space Marine Facebook page has announced that on the 20th of this month they will FINALLY be releasing details on the multiplayer 🙂
-
Why do I keep thinking I’m watching Fistbeard McTavish in this video, they both got massive beards!
-
Secondly… WHOA! DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT!
-
-
I can’t find the article were I read it but it said kill team would be out mid July.
You have any idea of a release date loops? I thought it would be this week. What day do arcade games get released?
-
July 26th apparently – but that’s the states, i don’t know if it will be the same for us
-
LAST DAY OF CRUDDY JOB
CELEBRATIONS TO ENSUE
-
YAY!
Now get on Words w/ Friends to celebrate! haha
-
My phone has no battery 🙁
It’s a very pretty looking paperweight.
-
You’re just making excuses so that I don’t destroy you :p
Harli, if you want a game, my name on Words with Friends is Trjn (shocking I know).
-
Pretty big talk for a man who fails basic surgery.
Don’t you have pants that need stitching?
-
I’d like to see the medical board that thinks removing multiple engineered tumours that move about a patient’s lungs with a specialised laser is “basic”. I would not like to live in a country where that medical board exists.
And my pants no longer require stitching. That got sorted out last night. They are hole free, except for the holes that are meant to be there for my legs to go in.
-
Sure but in that country, you’re also totally qualified to be a bomb disposal guy.
2 in 1! -
A qualification I would never use because I’d blow myself up a dozen times for every bomb I successfully disarm.
-
Bomb defuser guy, rather.
Also in UtK2, an electronic lockpicker!
-

We had an awesome game of BL last night, thanks to all who attended.
We rolled fresh toons and had two sirens (Dire Wolf and SyvRaen), a hunter (Blaghsy) and a zerker (myself).
We actually had enough throughout the night to make an extra 3 man team (with FS, Q-Bo and Mini AP all ready to join in) – so don’t forget this Thursday for another session! All are welcome but it’s first come, first serve.
I can’t get over the drops and cash we were picking up from the 4-man-leveled mobs! The leveling mechanics are a little strange though – the bosses seemed to be easier to take down than the mobs leading up to them.
Happy to say we now have the safehouse key so we’ll be up against Sledge in our next session. Solid effort for our first play together.
We had very few wipes given the difficulty we were up against – grand work by all and I’m looking forward to Thursdays session 😀
-
After seeing all the complaints re. Steam downloads, I was surprised to find Borderlands DL’d in one night (I even paused it for a little while). Also, it counted as Freezone (iinet), so had no effect on my cap! If I’d known that I would have bought more.
Anyway… I’m am ready, willing and able. Lvl 1 Hunter coming your way (If I have time I’ll level up a bit before Thursday).
-
W00t!
We are all about level 10/11 so that’s what you should try to hit for Thursday’s session.
-
-
Did I help?
I’m a helper!
I helped.
Shortly before Company of Heroes through Steam crashed my computer and I ungraciously left the chat.
It’s not because I hated you guys, honest. -
Bundles of fun, in spite of all the dying.
Although, I somehow don’t have as much money as everyone else. Are you guys holding out on me?
PARTY FOR STRAAAAANGE

Strange’s birthday needs a strange cake! http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/07/this-angry-bird-cake-is-monstrous-beyond-all-reason/ 😛
Happy Birthday! 😀 -
Happy birthday Strange. Looking smashing as usual 😉
-
Yay! Party! I haven’t had a party for aeons. Didn’t even have one for my 18th or 21st!
*hands everyone a slice or two of cake*
Now I’m about to go out for lunch and buy myself a birthday present. Everyone try not to trash the place while I’m gone.
-
*dons lampshade*

Yay! Another mother meat curtains day! Congrats 😀

Wait, what?

Meat Curtains sounds like something I found find it Lady Gaga’s house.

Eyeskimming the page I thought you were referring to Strange! 😉
Happy Birthday Strange!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

The mental images are… unpleasant.

Woooo!!! PARTY! (Is that embarrassing guy who drinks too much and falls asleep sitting up so that it takes thirty minutes before anyone else realises I’m asleep)
Happy Birthday Strange!

You’re a worse person than that entire house-party filled with people.
I hope you’re happy.

Man with a doodle face says what?

I am in Brisbane.
I am cold.
These two facts should be mutually exclusive dammit.
-
Agreed. It was -2 degrees in Ipswich this morning D:
-
I am not in Brisbane.
I am also cold.
I just wanted to talk, dammit.
-
Hell has frozen over?!
Take that, climate change!
-
I’d say hell freezing over would be a pretty drastic example of climate change :p
-
-
So i finally finished Borderlans on the weekend. All missions done and just running round now….
Is there some way to start again with same character or do i need the DLC?
-
I thought there was a hardcore mode similar to diablo where you could play the missions again but the enemies are leveled up – although I may be wrong, I’ve only played it at a mates place.
-
You can do a second playthrough where the mobs are harder and level with you – when you hit sledge you should have a chance at getting the pearl weapon drops.
-
Yeah if you fire it up again and pick your character you’ll get to pick playthrough one (the one you just did) or two (start from the bus again but with the character you just beat it with).
The mobs are higher level, what you’d expect if you finished it sans-dlc. If you played the DLC you’ll be a superpowered god roaming a land of malnourished mere mortals.
Ugh… Steam is barely crawling for me at the moment. I’m desperately wanting to check out the cat and the coup, but the servers are painfully slow. 🙁
Lunch at 1pm.
You’re all welcome to join me at the pub!
-
I wish! Could really do with some of that OJ and something something magic drink right now.
Ass-Ass-In’s Creed 2 is off my shame of pile!
-
Woot. I loved that game, such an improvement on the original.
Good to pick up Brotherhood, as well, it was a surprisingly great game for its short development time.
-
Yeah I agree, I loved it as well. I shall pick up Brotherhood as soon as possible so I can get Revelations as well.
-
Some people might remember that I borrowed some mechanical keyboards a while ago. I meant to report on how it went but kind of forgot about it.
I was loaned two keyboards, one with brown switches, the other with blue switches. Unfortunately, the one with blue switches was a special edition that had some firmware issues which prevented it from playing nicely with Macs.
So my main use was with the brown switches. It was a definite improvement on a generic keyboard but I preferred using my Apple keyboard simply because of the low profile keys and the feel of the brown switches being a bit odd. Not bad, just not something I would pay extra to have.
On the other hand, the one with the blue switches was awesome. Very snappy, minimal physical resistance and just plain satisfying to use. Of course, I couldn’t use it on my main computer so I didn’t really use it much.
That was a while ago. This week I decided that I was going to get meself one of these fancy contraptions and have ordered one of these for my typing pleasure. I should get it in the next day or two.
-
But but… how does you see what you is typing?
-
Witchcraft.
-
-
Nice, did you get one with the blue keyswitches?
I used to own a steelseries 6gv2 (with brown keyswitches) and I agree with your sentiments. I found it ‘better’ than a normal keyboard but not amazing.
I now own a razer blackwidow ultimate (yeah yeah yeah, spare me your razer fanboy comments). The blue keyswitches are just awesome and I love the ‘click’ I get. It’s just a joy to type on and I’m a sucker for backlighting which is a nice touch.
If you get a mechanical keyboard, the blue keyswitches are definitely the way to go. They feel much much better than the others.
-
Probably should have mentioned it, but yes, definitely going blue.
Razer keyboards are good, although I don’t like the backlighting myself, I probably would have got one of those if there wasn’t the option of grabbing a Ducky keyboard. Why Ducky? Because the brand is called Ducky, what more reason do you need?
-
Dogs with bees in their mouths.
-
And when they bark they shoot bees at you?
-
That would be preferable, but from experience, it tends not to go that way.
My dog once chased and snapped at a bee, which was able to sting her inside her mouth. She had a mad allergic reaction and puffed up like a fat, wrinkly pug. -
Was she a fat, wrinkly pug? Because then that isn’t such a severe reaction. Otherwise, that seems rather unpleasant.
-
She is not. She is some sort of mystery mutt, but imagine sort of a smallish German Shepard, and that’s her.
You know how when morbidly obese people go through severe weight loss and have all that excess skin? She kind of has a bit of that. -
Mine melted. >:-( Silly Razer.
-
-
-
1 Sam and Max game down, 15 more to go 😀
-
Do they have the humour of the originals? If so, I am very glad I picked these up for a song. They look great. And so many to play!
Makes me want to hunt down grim fandango again.
-
I can’t remember how funny the original was, it’s been a while since I last played it. The new games are quite funny though.
-
Just woke up about ten minutes ago. Was up all last night watching movies. One of which was The Kings Speech. Absolutely fantastic film. If you haven’t seen it you really, really should.
CELTIC FOLK INTERLUDE!!!!
Erm..TWANG TWANG TWANG?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnQFxfyD9gs
…….
Yeah right, AP!!! *flips bird at AP*
Which pub do you lunch at BTW?
-
Did j00 look at my jay-z remix last week?
Be honest!
-
Whhhhaaaaat??? When did you post it?? I haven’t looked at TAY since Friday!!
Chuck a link up now I’ll get my ‘phones 🙂
-
I missed the Jay-Z 🙁
Linky please…….
-
Oh and where did you get your Assasins Creed head scarf from? I know you mentioned it in TAY but i can’t find it….. 🙂
-
Angry angry Jay-Z dubstep:

Awesome assassin’s creed headscarf:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/67244228/assassin-hoodie-scarf-white-and-crimson
Enjoy!
-
Thanks!! 🙂
LOVE the Jay-Z track, can’t wait to play in the car! -
Thanks AP for BOTH links!
OK, so firstly I have to state that I *hate* Jay-Z’s whiney voice so I did struggle a bit getting through to to the end…
I listened to it again to concentrate to the music behind the words (did you use an accapella?)
I think the beats you’re cooking are simmering along nicely, AP. You’re starting to get a feel for the bass/synth sounds and deffo showing potential.
Deffo needs to be mastered properly as vocals are too loud over the beats BUT that’s me being nitpicky and wanky so don’t fuss too much.
Good work overall mate 🙂
I’m gonna chuck a Dubstep interlude up shortly with rapping on it (not USA Hip Hop, but UK Grime).. have a listen to the basic kick-snare behind the verses.
LOL as I type, actually check out this track for cheeky inspiration 🙂
-
Awesome!
That youtube ‘tutorial’ is actually pretty handy, haha.
Ok, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. This Friday I’ll drop a full length dubstep track!
STAY TUNED!
-
SICK! I think I’m in WOB 😛
-
-
-
Sounds like the Dropkick Murpheys – Some of their more classical stuff anyway.
-
It’s good to see Irish dancers who don’t follow the Michael Flatley school of arm waving.
I purchased some domain names on behalf of my company late last year. I still receive their emails as its always a laugh as to what new domains they suggest:
ChubbyBlonde.com – $199.00
“Highly brandable domain with 2,900 exact monthly searches”
Hey hey world of TAY!
I’ve been crazy busy since last week and hence why I haven’t been posting..
I’ve decided to keep the name change on Kotaku, Mark got a kick out of it so I’ll leave it for a while =)
MASSIVE weekend, not filled with a lot of gaming tho.. now that I have a new GF and I’m still maintaining my active social schedule, I really only have sun-tues to game.. and lately that has been taken up by (still) trying to complete the REALLY hard easter egg on Black Ops new zombie map Shangri-La..
So Saturday night I totally lost my shit to FuntCase and supporting DJs @ The Arthouse in town!!! FYI this is what he looks like…
Although while we were having a smoke, apparently one of the promoter guys was going off so much in the DJ booth that ol’ Funty ended up getting smacked with a BAR STOOL right in the old noggin’.. I believe that’s why his set was only 45 min (supposed to be an hour and a half)which was disappointing, but what a champ to keep playing after copping a chair to the head! Later that night, I saw a photo after he had taken his mask off and there was blood all on the inside, so it was a proper headshot!
BUT the best part is he is doing a FREE side-show at the World Bar this Wed (dubstep night called The Wall)which I am super excited about!! And there are NO chairs around there thank God…
Just when my neck and knees had recovered, I’m gonna do it all again tomorrow night w00t 😛
Anyways, I’ll drop a dub interlude soonish for y’all 🙂
-
AUGH
ITS A SNORK FROM STALKER
SHOOT IT IN THE FACE-
GACK Bish, maybe someone recognised him at the show and that’s why they biffed him with the bar stool lol!
-
Oh and I forgot to ask TAY – Has anyone seen True Blood Season 4 ep 1 and 2 yet?? Just watched them last night, as usual they are keeping us on their toes!! So glad it’s back on.. and Breaking Bad s4 starts this month too W00t!!!
-
New True Blood? Excellent – Will be a prime opportunity to earn some browny points with the better half. I think I’m in deficit due to some antics at a bucks night on the weekend :{
-
Yerp my ex got me into it and I was like “Really? Another vampire show?” ..then I fell in love with it myself!
-
-
I’ve seen the first episode. My verdict was something along the lines of “Needs moar Eric” and “Why the fruitetty fruit isn’t Bil GONE yet!!?”. 😛
I’m hoping the next one will be better, I’ll get to watch it tomorrow now that school holidays are over.
-
: )
Happy Birthday, Strange. Hope you put the heat on a couple of credit cards (burn the receipts, deny everything) . . . and, also, eat icing straight from the bowl – who cares about cake??
The honey badger don’t care (kind of nsfw). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg
35 is the new 25,
Plainview.
-
Eek! “The honey badger doesn’t care! The honey badger just takes what it wants!” I don’t know whether to be even more wary or just wish I was a honey badger now.

Didn’t take long for Giz to slide after Nick left 🙁

Heu Guys!
Baysplosion V 2.0 is now live!
Hope you like it
-
hahah been a while since i look at your site loops. Love those kinect ones 😉 classic stuff~!
-
Thanks mate 🙂
I really wish i had more time to work on them, though 🙁
All these really neat ideas that i can’t do just because i simply don’t have enough time to do them at the moment… oh well
Haven’t made a sale in about a month, so i really need to get cracking on promoting and getting some higher quality stuff in there. I’ll be discontinuing quite a few tees soon as well, and hopefully replacing the Kotaku one with something much better
-
I gotta buy that “I don’t speak Australian slogan” one since it was my idea ;), in fact I may buy 2 or 3 hehe
-
-
-
Awesome work dude, just bought one and as soon as I get a better idea of the size, will look into getting one for my friend as well.
Also had to pick up the Kotaku one,
REPRESENT!!!-
You sir are a legend
-
Thanks for all the birthday shenanigans and wishes, peoples! My day ended with cake, the best kind. Cheesecake!
Now I’m going to curl up in bed where it’s nice and warm and watch the new Warehouse 13 and hopefully grab GRRM’s A Dance With Dragons for my Kindle. Good birthday!
-
Congratulations on your 14th 21st birthday! 😉
-
Happy Belated Birthday Strange.
I had both a wise and funny comment to add, something that would truly define the wonder of birthdays and put all birthday cards to shame, but… er… my dog ate it. -
Do you think I should read them all again for aDwD or just the last two? While spectacular, it is a long haul at half an hour a day.
Slightly related, I’m seeing a lot of people on the trains reading the books in both dead-tree and dead-battery formats and it makes me happy.
Happy hump day people! I spent my day yesterday at a conference thingy for cudo.. learning about how they work and stuff and whether it might be good for my business. Looks like it might be, so in the near future, you might see my logo popping up on their sites! Dunno exactly when this will be happening, but it’s certainly looking positive at this point! Hopefully soon though cos things have been a bit dead for me lately :\
Anyone looking for any puter related stuff? I might be able to help 😉
Ok Kill team update – it actually will be released sooner than the end of the month… according to the facebook page it will be released tomorrow and will cost a mere 800 points.
There will be a PSN version coming at a later date.
Here’s the original post:
“Space Marine (THQ)
We are very excited to confirm that Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team will be releasing on Xbox LIVE tomorrow! The game is just 800 Microsoft Points, so about $10. PlayStation Network version will also be available later this summer.
Don’t forget – if you buy Kill Team – you’ll get to unlock the EXCLUSIVE Power Sword weapon to use in Space Marine coming out this September. Get FRAGGING!”
-
-
I have also just contacted THQ via email to try and get an interview with someone on the Space Marine team which, if all goes to plan, could be featured on Kotaku!!
*crosses fingers*
*nudges mark*😛
-
-
Dammit – now I need to buy MS Points. Stupid 700 sitting there, staring at me…
Hey loops, I might be late to the Melbourne Meat as I forgot I have an appointment for my tatt sleeve.
I am sadness.
-
Sleeve tats are effin’ HOT. just sayin’.
-
I call those humans “Toilet wall arms” since that’s how arm tatts usually end up looking like to my retinal processors.
-
Robots go to the toilet?
-
-
Back before I decided to actually commit to Shameless Gaming month, I ordered Infamous 2 and Alice: Madness Returns off of Zavvi.
They arrived last night.
Now the question is, do I play with my new toys, to the neglect of my older toys which are finally getting a little love, or let them gather a little dust and probably end up on the Pile of Shame?
I decided to add Alice to the rotation of games that I’m playing. That should work out well for me, even if that girl is quite batty.
-
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN
That ending.
/o\
Update from the US humans! The Deus Ex Human Revolution is now Batman!
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/07/the-conspiracy-unfolds-in-the-latest-deus-ex-human-revolution/
…lolwut?! 😛
-
The high quality work continues I see.
-
I was gonna say, Adam Jensen looked a lot like Bruce Wayne… 😛
This is interesting, Xbox 360 references in the Windows 8 kernel, http://www.winrumors.com/xbox-360-references-discovered-in-windows-8-kernel/
Morning Tay
Have any of you muggles seen the last Harry Potter yet? Was contemplating going to see it this weekend and was wondering if anyone could tell me if its worth it?
-
I have not yet seen it, looking forward to it though. Has anyone else noticed how many times Voldemort screams in the trailer? I swear its like 10 times, it’s hilarious if you look out for it ^^
-
Morning Steve-O!
Nope, don’t think I’ll be going to see it BUT I will be buying some Harry Potter brand condoms.
Protect your slytherin from hogwarts while you enter her chamber of secrets.
😀
-
Bahahahahah!
Just snorted into my coffee and am getting weird looks from other coworkers though.
-
Waiter, waiter! There’s a Star Wars parody in my wizard game!
If I ever get tired of that music in the Deus Ex Human Revolution trailers, someone needs to punch me like Jensen punches hookers.
-
It’s so epic.
Trjn,
Were you the one who bought the 360-style PS3 controller from EB a couple weeks back? How’s that going? Recommend or no?
Thanks!
-
Yup, that was me.
Not liking it, barely using it to be honest. It just isn’t as good as either the official 360 controller or the official PS3 controller.
There will probably be better options down the road, I suggest waiting for them.
-
Wait till you see the PS3 controller I just ordered! 21 days shipping, omfg, I’m going to die waiting for it to arrive!!!
-
Do tell.
Preferably with links or maybe an epic poem describing the device :p
-
2 words – candy. pink.
http://techiser.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Candy-Pink-PS3-controller.jpg
-
I dislike the colour but I do like the colour’s name.
Candy pink.
Anything that is candy pink should be sugar coated, that way I can justify my urge to lick it.
-
You are not going to enjoy the baby-crap yellow controllers…
-
Strange as it seems, I have no desire to lick those.
-
-
-
And here I was thinking you’d bought an interesting controller…
-
Don’t hate, just gyrate! *dances*
-
Is pelvic thrusting also acceptable?
It’s the only real dance maneuver I can pull off convincingly, though the community service seems to suggest to the contrary.
-
I’ve heard the PS3 Afterglow controllers are a pretty good 360style if you can handle the lights…
-
I just don’t get the appeal of glowing peripherals. Seriously, what is it with “gamer” products and LEDs?
I don’t want my room to glow blue every time I play a game.
-
saves on lightbulbs!
I’m helping the environment!
-
I agree!!*
*Batarang controller is not considered for the purposes of this argument cos it is AWESOME!!!!**
**Batarang controller may not actually be awesome, but i have high hopes***
***Actually i don’t, it’s a third party controller being given away with a game, but i STILL WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The Dark Knight Rises first poster! Sweeeeeeeet!
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/07/first-poster-for-the-dark-knight-rises-shatters-gothams-skyline/
-
No one seems to care lambo, I posted it towards the bottom of page 3 and NUTHIN.. At least *we* appreciate it a helluva lot *hi 5’s lambo*
-
Missed it, but sweet!!!
**double Hi5**
-
-
I missed it too. But now I just weed a little.
Ahh, Redneck Olympics – Hilarious:
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/glanceview/177197/the-16th-annual-redneck-games.glance
Also the guy in the picture 11 looks like one of the hicks from Quest For Glory 4.
God Bless Ameer-ryka!
Hey guys – I just wanted to give you all a heads up.
I’ve just discovered that for the past month at least, all emails that weren’t directly sent to me via mark.serrels@kotaku.com.au, have been going through to some weird folder that was, until today, inaccessible.
I’ve just spent the last 20 mins going through craploads of email from some of you guys that has been left unanswered, reader reviews, news tips – everything.
I’m so pissed off right now, but I just wanted to let you guys know that if I haven’t responded to something, this is most likely the reason.
ARGH! So frustrating.
-
Shameless Email Responding Month!
-
Was that the ‘crap to delete’ folder? 😀
-
lol.
It might as well have been.
So shitty about it.
-
-
Were mine in regards to my community Kudos from way back and the shadows of the damned comp in there? lol
-
I was skim reading and I saw ” the damned comp”. Perhaps I should stop skim reading TAY 😛
-
-
I thought Allure Media was one of the lead publishers in the technology sector? ;P /cheeky
-
Guess you’d better fire Tad.
I’m currently with 3 for my phone, the contract is up and I’m sick of the complete lack of coverage (I have to turn 3G off depending where I am just to get a weak signal).
My two options are to switch to Telstra which will fix my coverage issues but cost $10/mth more even though I won’t be making phone payments anymore and don’t use up most of my cap. The other option is to pay $20/mth less and go with TPG, which will probably have similar coverage issues but is a plan that meets my needs for a much more reasonable price.
Thoughts? Halp?
-
It really depends on how often you will need said coverage on demand, but if it’s not much at all, I’d say you’re better off with TPG
-
I’m thinking the level of coverage I require should include the ability for people to reach me on the phone when I’m at home.
You know, not have my battery drain by constantly searching for a network all night. That sort of level of coverage.
-
Well then I’d say Telstra but yeah impossible to tell whether or not Telstra’s coverage will make your phone do the same thing. I mean lets face it, it’s not perfect either.
Unfortunately for coverage checking in your area, the only accurate way to know for sure is either ask people who live close to you that use Telstra or try it yourself and find out.
-
Techy don’t you work for telstra?
-
Yes but I don’t like lying, this is based on experience human
-
-
-
Loops!
I’m thinking about buying one of your ‘Baysplosion’ T-shirts tomorrow. Can’t decide between chestnut, olive or military green though.
I need to know if you’ll be mad at me when I cut it up and sew it back together in a different shape.
-
Why the heck would i be mad? lol
I have nightmares about olive colored shirts due to the HIDEOUS amounts of olive tees we have in the back of the warehouse at work that NO ONE WANTS!
I like the sound of chestnut.. it’s tasty sounding.
-
I love olive tees (AND trees!). Gimmie gimmie gimmie! I’m wearing an olive tee and hoodie right now (tee being under my work shirt, hoodie because I’m a hooligan).
-
EXCLUSIVE
Tali’Zorah nar Rayya from Mass Effect 2 *UNMASKED*
😛
-
If Tali ends up looking like that, I’m seriously going to make sure my whole party dies!
-
I’d still hit it…
…FOR SCIENCE! \o/
I’ve been looking around for something awesome to get my husband for his birthday and I found this:
http://www.adrenalin.com.au/spy-training-gold-coast/qld-gold-coast/land/12891
Waaaay out of my price range but holy moly awesomesauce!
-
That would be a mad gift! Unfortunately its not for us commoners 🙁
-
Jesus, you don’t muck around with birthday gifts! Why not this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJoi-1g0IzI&feature=player_embedded#at=37
only
*cough*
$70 something!-
DOES WANT.
HOW MUCH AND WHERE DO I PUT MY MONEY.
-
$70,000
-
WHAT?!
I may as well just buy a real car!
-
-
-
-
Man, that adventure would just be epic.
You are quite industrious in searching for the ultimate present!
-
30 million jackpot this weekend… if I win, the next KotakuBris meet will be spy training followed by race-for-race in my racing simulator.
Speaking of which, can we get a details email of the strange meat so I don’t forget about it?
-
There’s no details yet besides the 23rd. Nobody will tell me if they prefer lunchtime or afternoon or evening and I’m bad at making decisions so I need some help dammit!
-
Whenever I see someone refer to the Brisvegas meet as strange meat, all I can think of is fallout and sweeny todd.
So tell me Strange, will there be pie on the menu? 😛
-
LBP playdate tonight!! wheee I am excite! I’ll be there with a blankie, a hot lemon drink and a box of tissues. Because I’m sick.
-
I’ll be there with gelled hair and an oversized chrome exhaust, because I’m fully sick.
-
I’ll be there with ESP and telekinesis, because I’m psychic.
-
-
\o/
This reminds me I need to figure out what my sackboy will wear.
I feel like a woman.
-
I’ve only played about 10 minutes of LBP so my sackboy(girl? it?) will be pretty much naked. Needs a strategically placed leaf or something.
And it’s okay to feel like a woman. *claps hand on your shoulder*
It’s okay.
-
Yeah, I suppose it’s ok.
I was feeling like a hamburger up until 30 minutes ago but now I want a female.
Damn I have weird lunch cravings…
-
*grins in the way one grins when a dirty thought has crossed one’s mind*
-
What?
I like eating out.
-
I’m sure you say that to all the girls…
-
I generally yell it at them.
Ensures I have ample seating space on public transport.
-
-
-
Man…
DOO DOO DEE DOO DOO DAH DAH
Let’s go girls…
-
omg haahhaah i also thought the same thing!!! now I have that damn song stuck in my head..
-
I have Holy Diver in mine.
I’m imagining myself riding a tiger.
-
I’d be there with a warm bucket of spew and a poop flavoured paddle pop cos I’m F*$%n sick! But alas, my wife has the tv tonight. Sorry guys.
-
Are we… are we talking about the same game?
-
I think welbot may be talking about that awsome game AssBro. “Warm bucket of spew and a poop flavoured paddle pop” – He must be up to the secret level!
-
-
Nnnnooooooooooo! I’m sorry welbot! Is it my cough thing? Or is it something different? Tell me its something different!
Don’t you just love it when you got packages from Allure Media in the mail? 😀
Yep that’s right, I got my Community Kudos prize! 😀 😀 😀
It was two prizes in 1! 😀 😀 😀
Except one was F.E.A.R. 3 (not F3EAR!) for Xbox 360, and I don’t have an Xbox 360! D: D: D:
So, anyone here want it?
-
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO/WHO DO I NEED TO KILL!?!??!
-
Just email your address to me at lamboman007 (at) live (dot) com (dot) au and I’ll send it off as soon as possible 🙂
Also, if you could kill Rebecca Bla- wait, what!? 😛-
Much WOB to ya, I have sent the email 😀
I’m on the ‘other’ thing too shhhhhh *winks8

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/07/tim-schafer-pitches-his-next-big-game-to-a-muppet/
Best freaking article ever.
-
Cookie Monster… WITH A TIE!?
BEST ARTICLE EVER.
Just put Ass: Bro in the PS3 to begin playing. Update! Of course. Only 38m so took just over a minute (man, I remember when I had to leave the computer on all night and day to download an 8m demo! /old) which made me happy. Finally the game loads and bam! Mandatory install. Nooooooooooo. at this rate I may be able to watch the opening movie bit before my son wakes up. If I’m lucky. 😛
-
Assbro? This sounds like my kind of game? I think?
-
I think you’re a pervert? 😛
-
One of my many endearing qualities, good sir.
-
-
-
You know what the worst part is?
Never remembering. The first time I popped in Yakuza 4, it was 11PM on a weekday. Thought I might get a decent hour and a bit in before bed (that is to say, the opening cinematic and maybe a sub-chapter if I was lucky), but all I got was an awesome green bar and install screen.
And it happens every time for every new PS3 game I get.
-
Ass-Ass-In’s: Bro. is one the games I need to get, I finished 2 a couple of days ago.
-
It’s a very classy game (despite the unfortunate abbreviation).
Amazed that they made such a great quality game in that sort amount of time. The story and set-piece stuff is great.
Spirit Tracks just arrived!
I’ll now be blowing hard on the bus…
wait…
-
Don’t you work in West End? I’m sure most people would be used to seeing that around there.
*DUBSTEP INTERLUDE*
WOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOB
This combination of grime/dubstep is dedicated to AP, heard this dropped at FuntCase and absolutely went bananas..
Artist: Foreign Beggars, Bare Noize and Skrillex
Track: Scatta
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKSRyoxr3rU
ENJOY 😀
-
😀
That’s just epic, nasty nasty drop in there.
I’ve lined up a grime acapella just now – I’ve been rolling through your dubstep interludes to get a feel for how to put these all together!
Keep ’em coming Schtampenheisen! Ja!
-
-
Cheers AP!
Yeah Gemini is a bit more chillaxed than his contemporaries, however he is a great producer and this is a great track – saw him live at The Wall last week, he played a GOOD set, not a GREAT one, I think he’s still young and needs to vibe out the crowd a bit better.
I’m SO going off tonight, can’t wait to see FuntCase again!
-
-
I feel so dirty…
I just created a twitter account to try and win a code for kill team…
@chul00p4
*sigh*
-
YAYAYAYAY!
-
Some respect has been lost human… you gave in to twitter
-
Did I just hear your jealousy circuits engage?
-
No, you must be hearing things human
-
-
All the cool kids are on Twitter, Knight.
-
Objection!
I’m not on twitter, and I’m still cool(ish)!
Right?-
I’m not on twitter either. That means you and I are the cool kids.
-
That doesn’t make you cool… that makes you alternative.
Like Hipsters.
Dirty, unshaven, skinny jean wearing hipsters… and nobody wants that.
http://hipsterseatforfree.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/foursquarev2.jpg
-
-
-
Of course that’s why I’m not on twitter, I’m not a cool kid, I’m a cool machine!
-
-ponders- -nods-
Nice.
-
-
I think we should host a ball in honour of this.
-
Everyone loves hanging out at Chuloopa’s ball!
-
His balls are always bouncing
His ballroom always full
And everybody comes and comes again
If your name is on the guest list
No one can take you higher
Everybody says hes got great balls of fire!
-
Yeah there’s nothing quite so fun as Chuloopa’s balls.
Wait, what?
-
I just came back from trying to find a decent sweater-vest. None to be found.
You sweater-vestites live a tough life.
-
It’s probably because the term “Decent Sweater-vest” is an oxymoron.
-
Effluvium Boy would beg to differ.
-
LAWL!
-
@Schtamperhausen
Craig David or SLK for the vocals?
-
Ha ha Craig David will be interesting! Who is SLK?
-
Found the vocal stems for this ‘hype hype’ track they did:
-
Whoa that’s pretty boss, mang!
I reckon that would go sick with a dubstep vibe!
Craig David would work too if it was done right 🙂
BTW what software do you use for your musical creations?
-
SLK it is then! We’ll see if I can maybe do a bit of a mash up.
My main DAW is Ableton Live… I have a very long list of VST instruments and Effects but most of my instrumentation is drawn from the Komplete 7 pack by Native Instruments.
If you want a list of the main things I use drop me a line!
-
-
-
Don’t forget chaps and chapettes, BL playdate tomorrow night.
Pretty confident we should have at least two 4-man squads! 😀
-
Ah I wish you chaps and chapettes had it on Xbox.. Used to love running around in 4-player co-op mayhem.. BL has the distinction of being the only game I have achieved 1000 gamer points on!!
-
Not sure I’ll be any use after all.
Played a bit last night. Juttery mess.
My laptop cannae take it D:-
And you people call yourselves nerds.
Y u no have good hardware for?
-
Gah Steam hates me. I’ve had Portal 2 dling since 12 am this morning and it’s only done 9 GBs out of 10.1 GB. And yeah I’ve changed to a nearby DL server :/
-
Yeah, I did a paltry amount overnight, only managed 10gb despite leaving my steam downloads on for nearly 12 hours!
Been making a iphone/pad game with a friend for the past couple of weeks, love being productive. I also love the feeling when troubleshooting problems that come up during development and finding the solutions to them. Makes me feel smart haha!
After finishing AC2, I’m gonna focus all my gaming time to Persona 4, I’m getting close to the end, maybe a few days worth of gaming will get it off my list.
A little birdie tells me the Christian lobby has been flooding the R18+ games survey on the classification site with a massive no/no vote campaign since the 4th July in an effort to knock the yes vote way below that of the late 2010 campaign, and they are well on their way.
Can I remind everyone who has not yet voted on this to please do so. Also, voting no to R18 because you dont believe games should be censored at all will just cause your vote to be counted with the ACL and Elizabeth Handsley-this is not a referendum on whether we should have a classification system so don’t waste your vote.
-
Was this the simple survey on SurveyMonkey?
Or the longer call for submissions?
-
If it’s the classification website’s survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KZ6WR79
Then I’m pretty sure it’s been up for a while (a few weeks or a month).
-
Ugh…I feel so dirty…I just dropped $12.95 on Sega Rally Online Arcade… and I feel very regretful…
🙁
*Puts on hipster glasses*
I was on page 5 before it was mainstream.
-
HOW DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHEN THE NEXT PAGE IS?!?!
-
Well, you have to know these things when you’re a king, you know.
-
-
*super-slow clap*
Brilliant
KILL TEAM IS ON THE XBOX LIVE MARKETPLACE NOW!!
GO GO GO!!!!
-
Still waiting on my points from gamecard.com.au
Then I’m gonna Kill Team up in this b**ch. -
I HAZ IT!
But…
NO XBOX LIVE CO-OP!?
GOT MY PSP WORKING!!!
Special thanks to Welbot for the mild tutoring that got me through. WOOOOHH!!!
-
You’re very welcome sire! Glad I could be of some assistance! Nice to see you got it going again!
Heavenly Sword.
The shooting.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
You know how well you can steer a cannonball midair using sixaxis? As well as you’d expect from trying to steer a goddamn cannonball midflight with gorramn sixaxis.
Although when Bohan popped up, I was all “Andy Serkis?” and whaddya know, it was Andy Serkis.
I guess it really says something when you’re able to recognise an actor even though some of his most prominent roles have not actually had his physical being in them.
-
Those damned Serkis Folk are very recognisable though.
Fun fact: the writer of Heavenly Sword also wrote Mirror’s Edge. Why I know this? She’s the daughter of Terry Pratchett. Why is this relevant? It really isn’t.
-
I was in danger of breaking my brand new PS3 by throwing my sixaxis at it when I played that game. And then I discovered you could switch in the options to aim with the sticks instead of flailing around with the sixaxis like a madperson. After that I quite enjoyed Heavenly Sword. Back then it was the prettiest game I’d ever seen.
-
!
YOU ARE A PS3 SAVER, LADY STRANGE
-
Last night, I received a shiny new Ducky mechanical keyboard with Cherry MS Blue switches.
It’s pretty damned awesome.
It also means that I have an Apple keyboard just lying around. Well, not so much now. I have the Apple keyboard at work to replace the craptacular wireless keyboard that takes up twice as much space as the Apple one and is not goodly to use.
Superiority all-round methinks.
-
Cherry MX*
Clearly my typing prowess is unrelated to the fanciness of my keyboards.
-
Cherry MX Blue keyswitches are the best keyboard switches ever.
-
I RETURN!!!!
Some said my sickness was incurable. Other’s said my next breath could be my last!
What?
“Nay!” I cried unto the heavens. I retreated to my labratory hidden deep beneath the earth’s crust with only my midget hunchbacked assisstant (Humphrey) and set to work. Potions brewed and beakers bubbled. Electricity arced across the room as it should in any good lab.
At least it was created! The super serum! Now I would fight this desease! Where my body has failed, science shall prevail!!!! Drinking the concoction was like swallowing liquid fire. I could feel it’s effects, my DNA altering, changing in to something else!!!!
Then I felt a bit better. So, you know, SUCCESS! \o/
Last night’s LBP night was quite the epic success! We must do it again sometime!
-
I’m glad you’ve returned from the dark precipice of diseased near-death status!
I was going to plead on TAY that you be returned to us whole but it appears all is well now. Yay! -
Welcome back! Thank you for decorating my pod with a giant KOTAKU logo last night!
What were you sick with?
-
Well, some quack diagnosed me with a throat/chest/sinus infection thing. All nonsence really.
I was obviously suffering from lack of awesome.
Topped the awesome up, and now I’m good! well, gooder.
-
-
Hello good sir!
Welcome back to TAY, I thoroughly enjoyed your LBP costume last night!
I shall respond to your e-mail shortly, looking forward to our creative shenanigans 😀
-
You mean my tophat, monacle, underpants ensemble? I have to admit, I dressed to impress. I took a while changing into something suitably epic. Some people just don’t take the time. Your sack-person says a lot about you. I’d like to think mine says “This gent, he’s sharp.” or possibly “This guy bought a lot of DLC”.
-
Borderlands tonight! Wahoo!
Was stuck at work until 2030 last night, so missed out on LBP. Lame.
Looked like there was a full squad anyway. Maybe next time.
-
Did you use your Delorean to get to 2030?
-
24-hour time is the only way to go!
Respect, yo.-
I agree, but 24 hour time would be 20:30.
I prefer to think he time travelled to the year 2030 and brought us all back presents.
You did bring us presents didn’t you Eff?!-
I hope mine is a Mattel hoverboard! It’s a hoverboard, isn’t it? oooh! I bet it’s a hoverboard!
-
YOU ALLLLL GEEEET
HOVERCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS! -
OMG YOU’RE FAT…. AGAIN!!!
-
-
I prefer to keep my colon to myself.
The year 2030 is not unlike the present.
Everyone is still talking about discussing a plan to meet regarding the possibility of maybe considering taking action to prevent global warming.
The most commonly spoken phrase is still “I’m not racist, but…”
Shakespeare is still overrated.
The fashion industry is only kept afloat by the buoyancy of its own self-importance.
White heterosexual males are the only demographic freely discriminated against in advertising.
The three seashells aren’t yet a practical method of personal sanitation, but scientists are working out the kinks.
Pens still leak.
Chocolate melts.
However…
The Galapagos tortoise is no longer endangered. In fact, they’re now extremely common and a staple food in many countries.
I did bring you back some as presents, but… well… they’re just so goddamn delicious!Oh! Also, everyone wears these http://bit.ly/9Mhpf1
-
-
You missed hanging out with a…
GREAT SCOT!
-
HA!
Was wondering where you were ;( That sucks, but we’ll be doing it again so maybe next time eh? We had numbers fill in, with many lol-worthy moments.
On a random note, did anyone start up a game of Words with Friends against me? I’m playing someone and I don’t recognise the name, wondering if it is a random or a TAYbie under a different moniker.
-
You don’t remember but it’s the devil and you’re playing for your soul. Don’t lose!
Tad Edit: You’re welcome.
-
I hate it when you notice an error as you’re clicking on ‘submit comment’ but it’s too late to stop.
There should be the word ‘your’ in there before ‘soul’. -
Taddy! I love you!
-
Most people do. 😛
-
Who’s your Taddy, babeh? hahahaha
-
Who is your Taddy, and what does he do?
/arnie -
Taddy long-legs?
-
-
-
Hey Trjn,
Long time lurker, thought I’d try and give you a run for your money… which apparently I can’t.
-
You seem to be doing alright at the moment. Damn you triple word score!
-
I have since wondered into the land of vowels. It’s a scary place.
-
…olso o is how oll the cool kids write a. Jsut so you know.
-
I seriously want to know when “Joe” became an acceptable word to use in Scrabble.
-
Same time as frosh I bet, or za which is apprently slang for pizza, kids these days, no imagination. One of my favourites:
bag·wig (bgwg)
n.
A wig with the back hair encased in a small silk sack, worn in the 18th century. -
I was hoping you couldn’t build off of that W there, wanted to have “WHAM!” as my next word, although “Ham” has worked out nicely anyhow.
-
-
Coffee
-
Loops! I’m sorry it took so long but my husband is posting your Overlord 2 today. He asked whether he should say it was from “the old lady of Kotaku”, he seriously thought that was how I was known here!
-
haha that’s ok – i still haven’t gotten the shirt out to you yet either. I should have it out on monday, though 🙂
Some things at work make me so angry… *le sigh*
-
*dons coat and glasses*
Here, take a seat. Now, tell me all about the stupid people who cause you distress. Incompetence is unfortunately abundant in the working world. How was your childhood?
-
A lady in coat and glasses is sooooooo sexy – it’s what could possibly be under the coat… ohh baby…
oh?? sorry??
My childhood??
I LOVED GI-Joe and Star Wars!!!
-
Hey! hey! easy! This is my virtual pretend partner I’ll have you know!
-
GI Joe is?
-
LOOOL!
oh my…
-
You know what this means?
VIRTUAL WEST SIDE STORY KNIFE FIGHT!!!
*clicks fingers and strikes dramatic pose*
-
Wait.. hold on.. this isn’t a knife??
It’s a measuring cup!!
Boy do i feel silly!
Ok, fights over, you can have her… but i get the coat!
-
MEASURING CUP FIGHT…BEGIN!
-
*quarter cup + punch*
METRIC-DOUKEN!!!
-
lololol! Just when I thought the thread couldnt get any better, it does.
-
And i didn’t even get to my sub zero move of throwing an ice cube tray…
-
-
-
I wish you hadn’t said that, Now I’ve got “I want a gir with a short skirt and a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong jacket” stuck in my head.
Time to go watch chuck I guess.
-
I’d prefer a girl to a gir.
-
Awwww… i LOVE Gir!
http://www.glogster.com/media/2/2/97/8/2970807.png -
Doom doom doom do-doo doom do-doo doo doom
-
I’m just gonna roll around on the floor for a bit, k?
Very true, but both work well with a long jacket!
I has a head cold.. i don’t want to be at work doing stupid stuffs 🙁
I want to be at home playing games and downloading Kill Team… *sniff*
Bleh..
Whats worse is that when i get home i still can’t relax because i still have to do heaps of economics homework… That stuff is REALLY doing my head in… i seriously picked 2 of the hardest subjects this trimester 🙁
-
Where do you work, buddy?
-
At a distributor doing all sortso f things.. at the moment i’m doing sales emails.. but later i have to continue counting stock.. me… alone… LITERALLY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF ITEMS….
Plus the warehouse is like 10x colder than outside, being all tin roof and concrete… *sigh*
It actually stings to breathe out there sometimes…
-
-
I feel for you, I am also at work whilst under the weather, everything is so hard to do! ><
-
Everything except for wasting time on Kotaku that you should REALLY be spending counting crap.. :S
-
TAY keeps me going!
-
Ugh, seconded.
It’s not possible to overdose on strepsils, right?
-
C’mon Harli, we talked about this…strepsils aren’t always the answer to your problems. I believe in you buddy! You can move past this stage in your life!
-
I once popped 6 in an hour, of the weird, purple (maybe blue?) ‘Original’ flavour. I think the recommended ‘dosage’ is one every 2 hours.
My mouth and throat went numb.
It’s an odd feeling. -
I bet that made Blaghs very happy!
-
-
“Excess consumption may have a laxative effect”
-
I have to poop…NOW!

Also, just like to report that aside from that one game from Ozgameshop that disappeared into the ether, all other mail has been delivered!
Including my Enslaved Special Edition! I didn’t realise it even existed till I saw Strange’s Pineapple. “Artbook?” said I! “I must have it!” And now I do. And two copies on Enslaved. True story. 😛
This is why I have no monies!
-
That and the hookers
-
And the powder that you keep telling your family is flour.
YOU DON’T EVEN BAKE.
-
To be fair, I said “Glasgow flour” which is entirely different.
-
Tried making bread with that stuff once.
Spent two whole days yelling about a Russian invasion and building a fort out of newspapers.

Total War: Shogun 2 takes up 20gb?? This could take a while to install…
-
I installed Magicka on my laptop last night, only to find it’s yet another game that doesn’t run properly on my hunk of crap.. i’m really getting so fed up with my computer.. so many great games and i can’t even play them…
-
Magicka runs like a POS no matter what machine it’s played on. Still a fun game, though.
-
-
It’s now been installing for 30 mins, and Disc 1 is almost finished…
-
On a side note – NOTHING beats Rome: Total War
-
I’ve played all of them except the original Shogun and Rome is defiantly my favourite. Empire may possibly have beaten it because I love the time period but, as much as I loved the game, it’s the buggiest game I’ve ever had to suffer through.
I’m hoping their next project is Rome 2. Or possibly Total War: Gundam.
-
Rome 2 would make me so deliriously pleased.
I didn’t mind Empire once they patched some of the worst bugs (like how the AI, uh, forgot how to use ships).
Haven’t picked up Shogun yet because I don’t think my PC could run it well, but next time I upgrade they should have their next game out 🙂
-
-
-
Game is installed. What the, 3GB update to download!?
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-
co-op campain time?
-
Imma be downloading the update tonight, so yes, coop campaign tomorrow, after I figure out how to play it. My experience with Total War games is limited. I’ve played some of the campaign for Medieval 2, and I’ve played a lot of battles in Medieval 1 (cause the campaign wouldn’t work for some reason). I got sick of the pope very quickly in med2, so I started a new campaign as the nation that’s close to rome just so I could wipe it out 🙂
-
Yeah, the Pope was allways the first to go on my playthoughs.
They have apparently removed the custom multiplayer battles from shogun 2 which is stupid because it was the best part of all the others.
I figure they were trying to force people into their avitar versus thingy.
-
We have enough for 2v2 maybe?
Blaghs, Gorzy, Lambo, me.
Probably not as satisfying as going against AI, but at least we know that we’re all fairly crap, so at least it’ll be balanced. 😛
-
-
-
-
Wait wat.
Base install is ~15GBs, with the 3GB DX11 patch making it 18-19 GBs all up.
And man, dat DX11 grass. Amaaaazing.
Not sure if you guys really care.. but i thought someone might.. we’re running a special on those BR4SS undies i was speaking to you all about oh so long ago… I’ve made them almost half price.. so you know.. if you need undies… platypusx.com
I would normally never flog anything from my work to you guys, because i just think it’s wrong.. but i really love these things.. probably one of the comfiest undies i’ve ever worn…
-
Reading that with all those (…)s gave me the impression that your undies are too tight 😛
-
wow – that really was a lot of ‘…’
-
dotdotdotpocalypse! 😛
-
The correct term is “Elipsipocalypse”*
*The official name of dotdotdot is “elipsis”
-
Wouldn’t that mean it would be the Apocelipsis??
-
I stand down. That was amazing.
-
Just goes to show, you don’t need to be a fanta-pants to be on fire
You just need a head cold
-
And yet you’re still taller than most of us…
-
-
-
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! LOL! I love the top comments!

Just watched these on your facebook man. Awesome.
Also. This.
-
What the hell did I just watch 10 seconds of before closing?
-
These were too good not to share everywhere. Saw your video too. Tried to like it but FB was ‘Unable to write to database’.
-
-
Awesome ad – but man is he looking horrible or what?1 lol
-
He was born in 1960. 51 years old…
Man, he’s the same age as my Dad. That’s terrifying.
-
Imagine if he were your Dad! You’d be able to do the full splits and smash bricks!
-
I more meant the long hair… it’s kinda scary 😛
At least he hasn’t gone the Stallone route of stupid amounts of plastic surgery
-
-
*huff puff puff*
I’M HERE!
WHAT DID I MISS?
-
MEASURING CUP BATTLE!
-
Sounds hot. Who won?

-
Anon is a D cup? How did I not notice!?!?!
-
My moobs are supple and perky!

Because I’m jumping up and down?
-
Because you just saw two Kotakians, one cup?
-
-
-
I didn’t know what to pick to eat cause I’m feeling sick…Nachos was a bad choice.
-
Maybe some end-of day 4:30 PM sushi will help clear that up!
-
-_-
-
Well work is now officially shit. I work hard for 10 minutes of every hour so I can go on kotaku. Now kotaku is blocked apparently I am expected to not read non work things. So now I comment on my phone. What am I meant to do when I’m bored?

THANK YOU BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS!

If you can’t get on Kotaku, you should bring a 3DS to work.
They asked for it.
-
Sorry, in keeping with the format:
Three letters: 3 D S
-
As Mr. F4ction posted further up the page:
BORDERLANDS TONIGHT.
Assembling on teamspeak at 10 to 8 for an 8pm start. First come, first serve. Judging by the lineup I am fairly confident that we’ll have enough for 2 teams tonight!
-
What leve did you guys get up to last time? I sould get a toon ready.
-
We’re about 10-11 at the end of the last playthrough.
-
-
I fear that I might have some trouble getting to the game tonight. Sorry about that.
Let me know where you guys end up, and I’ll catch up over the weekend!
-
I’m playing as a Soldier. Turret slowly pumps out health and ammo. Don’t do quite as much damage but it’s a handy little character to have.
WHAT ABOUT YOU GUYS?
-
I’m playing as a zerker, because it’s the one toon I don’t have as a high level yet.
KABOOM.
-
Mordecai!!! Just started a playthrough with the soldier though…
-
Sniper because BOOM! HEAD SHOT!!!
Also the ability to bypass shields completly is cool.
-
Good afternoon TAY!
Have been a CD-rom to TAY (read only)
dawdle has been the best vampire i have ever met, she avoids sunlight LIKE A BOSS! and it was fun watching her play (being played) by portal 2.
For those who still believe I started the Pineapples. I am very sorry to tell you that I barely finish a game. *Shameful of myself*
And I am off to Perisher Blue tonight, three days of skiing, yeahayayya!!!! *Totally leaving dawdle behind to finish my games~*
See you guys in three days!!
-
bring me back a snowball!
-
A yellow one! Lemon FTW!!!
-
Watch out for the yeti!
http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/uu224/hofflers/skifreeyeti.gif
-
This brought back memories!!
-
Haha, that was the first thing I thought of before I even clicked the link. Man that game was cool. I played it just to look for the yeti. Then screamed like a girl when he did pop up.
-
-
-
Bring me back a small yeti heart!
-
Can I get a large yeti’s heart and a diet Coke?
-
-
I now wish to offer you words of sage advice that have been passed down through my family for countless generations;
“If there is only one thing you need to know,
Never, ever eat yellow snow”May my words of wisdom serve you well.
-
I once tried to stay awake for 3 days in College. That didn’t end well. Lord only knows what Skiing for 3 days straight will be like. To be honest, I’d probably get bored after the first few hours. Maybe I’d try something more awesome. Like snow boarding. But not 3 days of snowboarding. I’d stop to eat. And sleep. And drink hot chocolate.
I have a point.
Not sure what it is.
I grew up at the foot of towering Scottish hills. Every winter the peaks would be coated in thick snow. Yet we went to a dry slope made out of pure ‘spike’ when learning to ski at school.
Go figure.
-
Snowboarding = Awesome.
Snowboarding in Australia = Expensive = Not quite as awesome.
-
I tried snowboarding before, but skiing is so much more fun!
-
: )
Ahoy-hoy, is Blaghman here? He asked me a question a few pages back, but I haven’t had much time at the old desk this week. There are the remnants of an office, desk and computer where I am, but I suspect the last person to use them was some kind of violent criminal succumbing to his monstrous urges and death row modus operandi.
Sorry, Blaghman, I missed your comment the other day – I’ve been looking at bags of dirt and making spreadsheets about bags of dirt . . . in the dirt, then I made a graph about dirt! The hours might be long, but the work is it’s own reward, not to mention fascinating. (this is not true). But it’s not all bad (lie), I get to work on my tan, grow a beard and eat creamed rice – pretty much my three favourite things to do in the whole entire world (true). Living the dream (doubt).
Plainview was like my persona/pen name when I had a 3-5 page section in the Wednesday edition of a daily paper. The pay was lousy, the conditions Dickensian, but they did have a perfect laneway out back for smoking and pacing up and down in quiet solitude and panic.
Plainview is a moustachioed, kind of a 1940s style mountaineer, explorer, raconteur, sailor, rogue, reprobate and playboy type character. Plainview could only see things in the context of his world, so even the most mundane, colourless, monotone assignment (eg: reporting on a new zebra crossing on main street) became something like a grand adventure into the Himalayas or beyond.
Plainview is my Tyler Durden, my alter ego. I don’t go into and out of character – Plainview is me.
I chose the name for two reasons. Firstly, it sounds very rugged in the sense of “plain” (noun) in the geographic sense. Plainview was a frontier man and enjoyed riding his horse across vast, open “plains” in search of adventure.
Secondly, you’d already know, newspaper writing is very concise, clean, immediate and clear. The best newspaper writing is “plain (adjective), sharp and efficient and clinically objective – just the facts.
My persona, Plainview, is the antithesis to plain, sharp, objective and clear – so the name becomes ironic. Plainview is incapable of forming a plain, straightforward view – he is forever lost in his own tangled memories, imagination and ideas.
I didn’t invent the name, I think there’s a place in Texas and New York called Plainview. And Daniel Day-Lewis plays a Daniel Plainview too and the name is probably used in lots more places also.
Plainview writes for me, Plainview is me, but I can adjust his volume,
Plainview.
-
<3
-
I do have to admit, I’m always thinking of Plainview when I read your comments. I <3 DDL's Plainview.
-
Errr, I meant to say Daniel Day Lewis. Is who I think of. Since thinking of Plainview when I read Plainview is a bit of a given.
-
Hey does any of y’all know if you can change the address of a preorder you make on ozgameshop further down the line? I want to make the most of this $10 off thing and preorder Uncharted 3, but I’m moving soon :'(
-
if you want, have it shipped to my house and I’ll hang on to it til you pick it up.
-
I know you, I know what you’re planning… you want to KEEP IT! Well, I’m not falling for it!
-
-
Set up a forwarding address with Australia Post?
-
Yeah, but, I dunno… they have enough trouble delivering things normally. I doubt their capability of properly achieving this service.
-
-
Pretty sure you can email them, as long as it’s before the shipping date.
asdfa
-
indeed!
-
Alphalpha?
I can’t remember the last time I didn’t post for an entire day.. Actually it was Sunday, but regardless I had to jump on and say hi. I’m here. Spent the entire day at ABC so actually stuffed.
So much for a relaxing day. It went really well. I missed the op for the serrels stare and I am shitty. Had it all worked out. I was so relieved to get the interview done I just wanted it to stop!
I’ll try and do borderlands tonight if I can?
-
Oh sweet! 😀
When should it be on tv?-
We totally have to hijack the #ggtv twitter thing when his lord Shadiness is on.
-
I am totally keen for a huge effort on the #GGTV tag from everyone here… No spam, just quality TAY comments 😉
It just sucks that it is out of my hands now. I have every confidence that they will do this well, but it is hard letting go now and just leave it to them.
Throughout the day, I spent 2 hours organising the video capture, as I had to go and get every easter egg while recording it. Then had to detail the timestamps for each clip and name it so they could edit it easily.
Then i played trials and backbreaker for fun and had a pie for lunch
then we did an interview. I was surprised by how many questions they asked me. I see my part in this feature as a small one and really it is about the riddle and the developer, so was not really prepared for about 15 questions or so?
Also, I think i did the interview in the GGTV studio. I say think because it surprised me. I was basically sitting where the camera would normally go and looking in the opposite direction. IF that is the set where the eps are filmed from, I am amazed. It is TINY! It looks so much bigger on TV. The there were the cube book cases and a whole bunch of old consoles around and other crap.. had to be it…
Overall, it was a good day I think. The GGTV team (didnt see Hex or Bajo), but the staff there were amazing. Made me feel totally welcome and immediately part of the team. From the Exec producer down they were all just super nice. I half expected these TV types to be pricks so it was really nice to see.
They were also really interested in the Riddle. Goose (Gus the new Ajax dude) was really interested in the riddle, to the point where he had spent some time trying to figure things out. We sat down as they were setting up the camera and chatted, by the time we started the interview, he just said.. say all that again!
Anyway, back to work tomorrow.. *sigh*
I have actually sent an updated article to OXM and game informer and hyper I think.. i can’t even remember now. But I really need to get this outside of Australia now. I think once the GGTV thing airs, we should be able to use this to take it further.
But I will say this, how freaking awesome are Aussie gamers (or their respective media outlets). I can’t imagine this moving any faster, and me just being a regular dude, with no special skills, is able to get an article posted and arrange a TV segment all within a few weeks. It just makes me happy to have such accessible media. (yes this is me thanking Mark again as I seriously doubt the GGTV guys read TAY)
PS. So sorry again i forgot to do the Serrels Stare. It was a swivel chair any everything!
Sorry, that became a long post, just wanted to share my experience. Feel free to ask if there is anything you want to know?
-
No Serrels stare?
You just lost yourself a viewer.
-
No Serrels stare?! Shady! You rehearsed that! I saw it on your youtube remember? Why did you no serrels stare!? 😛
-
I know guys. I let the team down. I was just so damn worried i’d stuff the interview it wasn’t til i left that I thought about it…
I will redeem myself somehow?
I changed the colour of the Trials Rider for the screen grabs to the Kotaku colours so that should count for something?
-
-
!
You should have stolen GG’s Lizzies and kissed them. Slowly and sensually.
-
-
-
I think it should be on within 3-4 weeks? They are only interviewing the developer tomorrow so by the time that they cut it etc it will take a few weeks. I also know GG is filmed a week or so in advance so at a minimum its 3 weeks I think.
Hey All!
Got a few things:
Lambo, it took me six hours to install Shogun 2. Then it decided it wanted to download the whole game, so I had to reinstall it, taking another 6 hours. (Empire is probably my favourite Total War game, it really clicked with me like no other (still never finished my grand campaign, stopped after 60ish hours).)
Crabjiffy, you ski? I love skiing! Skiing is far cooler than boarding. We should have a Kotaku snow meat (god that would be expensive).
Borderlands people, I probably won’t be able to play, as my last quarter decent computer has decided to die, and the prognosis is not good.
And now, a story.
So, today was weird. I went to a new work site, and there was this guy there, and I’d seen him before around, and while I know his name, I’m going to refer to him as “Bloke.”
Now, Bloke is a very Blokey guy, he has a deep voice, works as a labourer, but seems surprisingly intelligent. So I go to this new site, and Bloke looks at me, and says “where’d you get that jumper?” I look down, see which one I’m wearing, and reply “Impact Comics, Civic.” To which he responds “Sweet, I love Naruto.”
Today was also the first day that my job felt like a crap version of Minecraft.
Overall, a weird day.
-
Ooh, forgot another thing.
Today, while at work, at midday, while inside, my breath was misting up.
WTF CANBERRA WEATHER?
-
Oh, also.
Plainview, thank you. I can be more happy now.
And another thing, has the “cancel reply” button changed for anyone else, or is it just me?
-
Yeah, It’s bigger now and it’s beside the name of the person you’re replying to. At least that’s what it looks like for me.
-
I clicked reply just to see what you’re on about lol. It seems different, I think it’s bigger and missing brackets…I think it was inside brackets.
-
WELL IT’S ABOUT TIME SOMEBODY NOTICED.
YOU PEOPLE DON’T EVEN CARE ABOUT ME. I’VE BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 3 DAYS!
THIS IS JUST LIKE THAT ONE TIME I GOT THE HAIRCUT AND NOBODY GAVE ME ANY COMPLIMENTS.
*sulk*
-
I’m sorry Cancel Reply Button, I’ve just been really busy, so I didn’t notice.
You keep on doing what you do.
-
-
-
God, I know! I laugh heartily when I hear the Sydney weatherman complaining about a low of 9. 9 is not a low. We’re lucky to have 9 as a high in Canberra some days.
-
Gah, so busy! Both me and you guys with all your talkingness. So:
– Happy Belated Birthday, First Lady of Strange Clan!
– Hope business picks up welbot!
– I am disappointed that FatShady MBA did not get a chance to Serrels stare. I don’t think I’ll bother watching the ggtv segment.
– Shameless gaming is going fairly crappily, as I do want to play more Mass Effect 2, but Uncharted 3 Beta is finishing up, so I’ve been playing a lot of that.
– I got 8 tubs of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for $1 at Southern Cross Station :D:D:D:D (I totally didn’t eat half a tub on the train back and the rest of said tub on the walk home….) My friend took a picture of me trying to do the Rainbow Chicken Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq4NeqOXZGc) but with the Tubs of ice cream. I’ll try and upload it later.
– Also, I’m addicted to Audiosurf! WHY DID NO-ONE TELL ME HOW AWESOME IT WAS? I almost feel bad for only having bought it for $1.50 from Steam. Almost. But still, great amounts of fun.
– I don’t think I’ll be able to make the Melbourne Meat Up, I’ve got a lot of work to do to get up to speed with this placement. It’s fun, but lots of work for me to do. Maybe next time?
And yeah. Congratulations to the Kudos Winner tomorrow, as I’ll probably only be able to have a quick speed run of articles/TAY (How do you guys manage to spend so much time on TAY while at work? WHAT IS YOUR SORCERY?)
Okay. 2340. Time to sleep.
-
NNNOOOOOOO… damn, how do i make up for this….?
-
Thanks for the kinds thoughts sire! Really appreciate it 🙂 Things have been pretty dull for me recently, but yer.. Thanks to a couple of Kotaku peeps, I have something to do at least 😉 (Thanks guys.. you know who you are!) If things can keep up even a slow pace I’ll be good for a while yet 🙂
Think I’m really starting to get the hang of LoL – have accrued 4 wins from 6 plays now and scored something like 20 kills, 4 deaths and 20 assists in the last 2 games 🙂
I missed your message last night Jo – was hunting a mouse. I saw it in the corner of my eye inside my pc gnawing on cables midway through a game of LoL.
Also its Friday – This link works best if you have seen the original friday song:
-
A group of my friends are thinking about getting into LoL. Should lead to a fair bit of fun.
-
I was originally a DotA player and didn’t really like LoL a the start, but now that I’m getting used to it (and not getting pwned) I’m really starting to enjoy it.
If you have a group of friends the fun is multiplied exponentially as the gameplay relies heavily on teamwork. If you’re looking for an extra player hit me up – tag is steveothedevo. Jo, Techknight and Bawble/CrabJiffy also play.
-
-
Wait… it was THAT KIND OF MOUSE?! LOL I so thought you were talking about a new USB mouse that caused strange driver issues, DERP! xD
Secondly, glad to hear that you’re getting the hang of LoL, and I’ve picked my fourth character. A tank named Rammus
-
I played a game against Rammus as Garren. Our team had no tank (I thought Garren was one *derp*), and even though we were up 15 kills early on, our team eventually failed becuase we just couldn’t live long enough to make it through the other teams burst to get to their casters. Rammus however soaked up all of our attacks and kept coming with more than half-health left. tl;dr Tanks are important.
Oh yeah – I finally got veigar. Am loving his area of effect stun and his passive (awsome for spamming/harrasing)
-
-
How… how does a mouse get *inside* your case?
-
Well a while back I tried to put an extra fan on the side of the case. I lost interest and just left a hole, so I’m guessing it climbed in through there. Scared the shit outa’ me when I realised what it was. Went and got a container to trap it, but was gone when I got back :/ I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into a real-life version of the movie Mousehunt.
-
I’m hoping it does!
*Starts shopping around for video cameras*-
Yeah, that movie was a pretty crazy documentary.
-
-
-
Attention LoL players:
So apparently Frenetic Array are not only a pr0 Australian HoN team, they’re also a pro LoL team. For those who are interested, there’s an article about their recent performance here.
Damn these pro people! *is jelly*
-
We can take em. \o/
Probably not, I’m just feel really pumped after watching NotoriousR’s rainbow chicken dance link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq4NeqOXZGc).
-
So, gonna finally admit that LoL can be just as competitive then human?!
-
I don’t know what you’re talking about ;P
-
I not sure of this has been noted yet, but there is an article in the Mercury (Tasmania’s major newspaper) today in their weekly pop culture section called Attitude which talks about Shameless Gaming Month.
Can anyone tell me if the same article has made it into any of the other newspapers in the country?
-
Really? That’s awesome. I can’t see it on their website though, can you scan/take a photo or something?
I’ll take a look in the Courier Mail (I’m in Brisbane) to see if there’s any mention.
-
I checked the website, nothing about it is up on the website about it. . .
funny thing is it mentions both you and Mark in the article.
-
also here is a scan or the article in question
-
YAY! Thanks a lot for that.
Good to see that they tried to research things, but they got it a little wrong. PressXorDie.com is a site run by a friend of mine who put the article up as a cross-post from my original blog.
-
Its commercial news, you can’t expect them to get everything right.
Also I am amazed that my little tidbit of information actually got Mark to make a topic on it
-
It’s just a little odd because tracing it back to Press X or Die is not the easiest connection to make. Not when the original Kotaku article links back to my blog, and so does the PXOD post.
-
At least they didn’t link it back to that pwngamer site that kind of just stole it off Kotaku!
-
When I read that I thought “Traitor! He showed some other website first! Off with his head!!!”
-
I sent it to Mark first, Press X or Die was just quicker to put it up :p
-
-
-
Hey that’s AMAZING!! Grats Trjn! And thanks for sharing Ruen!
Any connection between the Newspaper and the cider?
Thanks Ruen, awesome job finding then scanning this.. very much appreciated.
Congrats Trjn!!! That is awesome.
hehe, The Mercury Newspaper. I haven’t seen it since I moved to Melbourne. I miss Tasmania 🙁
MELBOURNE MEAT UPDATE AND DETAILS
Hey guys – sorry to keep you waiting but here are the final details – i’ll be flat out at work later today, so if you have any questions it’ll be best to email me at troy(dot)cleary(at)hotmail(dot)(com)
WHEN: 7.30PM
WHERE: PROVINCIAL HOTEL, 299 Corner Brunswick and Johnson Streets, Fitzroy.
http://www.provincialhotel.com.au/
We’ll be meeting either in the outside area or near the bar area inside. I have no idea how busy this place is going to be, but it’s going to be the easiest for people to find and get to.
As i said before, if you’re thinking you might be late, shoot me an email and i’ll give you my number so you can call or message me when you’re nearby.
The plan is to sit back and get to know each other for a bit before TRYING to get into the mana bar.
If that fails, there is the Night Cat nearby, or we can head to the city to go to galactic circus/bowing/whatever.
Yes, Bee will be with me, no i will not be willing to swap her for a kebab 😛
I’m sure most of you already know what i look like, so spotting me shouldn’t be too hard – if not, i’m sure someone will link you to a previous competition post where i’m looking like a moron. If that fails, i have a facebook so you can stalk me
Looking forward to seeing you all there – this is going to be EPIC!
-
Sounds awesome dudes. Gutted I can’t come down.
Also – I used to work at Galactic Circus and one of my best mates is the General Manager!
-
Thats ok chief! Remember, Bee and I are coming to Sydney on Melbourne cup weekend (november). I’ll be expecting a sydney meat and a tour of Kotaku HQ. We can send bee off with the pop-sugar girls and they can talk about makeup and boys. hahahaha
Maybe a few melbourne peeps can make the journey too seeing as we all get that nice long weekend off haha
-
-
Totally saying I work for Kotaku and doing a review so they let me in!
-
I’ve been lurking for too long, so I’ve decided to comment more and be a part of the Melbourne gaming community.
I’ll be heading up to Mana Bar after lunch so you can find me in the bar/queue suited up and possibly wearing a luchador mask.
If that’s a bust I’ll come down to provincial for sure and meet some fellow Melbourne gamers.
-
Are you coming to ours first for pre-drinks?
Don’t be lazy!-
Dude you live in Berwick, I live in Prahran. You should be coming to MY place for predrinks 🙂
-
Dukey is driving, I was going to drink and watch The Room for warm-ups.
Maybe we can at yours though. -
Well Jus can’t make it till later so I get the Apt free all day. Dan is getting a car service and then he might head to mine first an we’ll trek up to Mana Bar via public.
If you’re keen to rock up early I plan to spend the morning playing videogames anyway, probably getting beasted online on SSFIV 😉
-
I’ll see what Dukey was planning I suppose.
What time were you thinking? -
If you’re keen rock up after 10 and we’ll be set.
-
Woah 10!
Maybe 12ish? -
Yeah that should work. Just msg me beforehand in case I’ve headed out already.
-
-
-
Loops, I’ve CC’s you on the email, but I have attempted to contact Yug to see if there is a facility to ensure entry on the openning night.
Though I’m doubtful of a result, I figure there’s no harm in trying.
Details sound great. I’ll be there! Although, as I mentioned before, there is a chance I’ll be a little bit late.

Coffee with liquer on the way. Did I mention I love not being at work?
Good fun was had in BL yesterday, many pew pew pews to be had! Thanks FatShady for joining in with us when Effluvium Boy’s poor hardware kept carking it 🙁
-
Was fun while it lasted. Hope you guys achieved more than I did, although I got a nice XP jumpstart. Also, thanks for the sniper rifle! Played a bit offline afterwards, but it crashed a couple more times.
I need a proper machine.
My laptop used to be like this: http://bit.ly/o93FsP
But is now more like this: http://bit.ly/qnV9Te-
Get an Xbox 😛

Sad that I missed it.

DUBSTEP INTERLUDE (Its Friday, dammit!!)
WOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOB
This bangin’ track just got released by the artist as a free download in thanks forgetting him to 500 fans on FB!!
Awesome production, goes hard on a decent set of speakers 🙂
Artist: Vortek (South Australia!)
Song: Walk With Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eSodZI0dzw
AP – hows your track coming along? Keen to hear it mate 🙂
-
Wait. Wat?
He’s releasing the track for free because he forgot that he had 500 facebook fans? 😛-
Ifailatputtingsufficientspacesin 🙁
lambo – did you get my email bruv???
-
Yep I got it, I should be mailing it today (hopefully) 😀
-
I <3 with all of my shrivelled black heart 🙂
-
-
-
-
I am structuring it out and adding the drops as we speak 😀
-
Schweeet I’m super-excited 🙂
So much hate goes towards people that use Ableton Live, but it’s such a powerful way to make music IDK what all the fuss is about! Esp if you combine it with the AC40 🙂
For example, check out this 17yo kid doing a live mashup of 39 songs in 3.5min..
-
The hate with people who use Ableton live is probably because they use all the stock instruments… and have no skill 😀
I myself have a launchpad for Ableton sequencing (because I’ve got craploads of controllers everywhere so I don’t need the extra faders/knobs)… Always wanted to do a big live set with Ableton. So much flexibility on live effects, it’s insane.
-
Yeah wicked, you sound like you got it all sorted – to satisfy my curiosity can you email me your full set-up? jsmoli (at) gmail (dot) com . What other styles of music do you create? Do you ever DJ anywhere?
-
-
That is basically my favourite song since Daft Punk’s Discovery album.
-
Wicked! Glad you enjoy it m8 🙂
-
-
-
So my son can open doors now. I found this out the other day when when he barged in on me in the bathroom. 😛
Just then I realised he was being a bit too quiet so I went to see what he was doing. I found him in my bed with the covers pulled up and playing my DS. He was taking pictures of himself and giggling at them.
-
A practice I partake in everyday! The giggling at pictures of myself that is, not barging in on my mother in the showe-ok I’ll stop.
-
Son, I am disappoint.
-
-
Next thing you know he’ll be driving your car down to the local playground!
-
Note to self: beware of Strangelings on the streets of Brisbane.
-
Hey loops, weren’t you after a new PC? http://www.estore.com.au/Core_i7_Xtreme_Gaming_PC_WBX0016.aspx?utm_source=megadeal_email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=megadeal_20110715_WBX0016 😛
-
Loops should get Welbot to build him a PC! Way better.
-
Just buy a rig (or even parts) from msy.com.au.. cheap as CHUPS, BRO!
-
I whole heartedly endorse this statement!! 😉
-
I endorse it too. Just make sure you use one of these cases http://www.corsair.com/special-edition-white-graphite-series-600t-mid-tower-case.html 😀
-
-
Oh wow, the Steam overlay now works with minecraft 😀
-
Steam overlay doesn’t work in ANYTHING for me.. not even steam games :\
I’ve tried a bajillion times to shift-tab and get it to come up, but it never works 😐-
But your the compuder man??? what hope do the rest of us have?
PS, mine has worked for ages.. sorry bot!
-
You wouldn’t happen to be using EVGA Precision, would you?
-
The only game I had trouble with the Steam overlay was on League of Legends and that’s it. It worked perfectly with Starcraft 2 and KOTOR2 so far.
-
Funny thing is, it doesn’t work on HoN either!
-
Tricky Valve, bet they’re saving it for DoTA 2.
-
-
-
-
The Steam Overlay always worked with Minecraft for me…
Crap I just realised that Kotaku haven’t said anything about this yet, figured I’d spread the love (although I plan to enter this so it just means more competition for me ;P)
I’m talking about the Artboy Vs Fanboy Videogames Exhibition
For all the Melbourne and Aussie artists out there, if you like a bit of fanart you should definitely look into this.
Artworks will be exhibited at the EB Expo and the top prize is a $1000 EB voucher, that can buy you at least TWO games! 😉
All the details are here:
http://www.artboygallery.com/ArtBoy_Gallery/FBVSAB_EXPO.html
-
That’s cool!
Both the exhibition & your name.
Sucks you can’t submit custom toys 🙁
-
Make the toys, then photograph them. 😉
-
-
Hmmmmmmmmmm…
I sent an email to The Mercury about the whole Press X or Die thing. Just got a replay back from them saying that they’ll be putting the article online today over at their website with corrections.
Yay.
-
That link won’t work, try this one.
-
They didn’t fix it 🙁 Oh well, not a huge deal anyhow.
-
So I just picked up AC: Brotherhood and Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 for just under 40 Aussie dollars from thehut.com
Ozgameshop was sold out of AC 🙁 but I am gonna pre-order Deus Ex from there too.
That’ll do me for a while I think, still have a giant pile of shame to get through and I just downloaded KILL TEAM as well!!! \m/
-
KILL TEAM \m/
You want to look at this link:
http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2009/09/01/watching-15-movies-backwards/
It’s worth it.
-
Some copies of Memento on DVD actually have it playing in order either as an easter egg or bonus feature.
-
Really? Ours doesn’t. It’s a spectacular film, though!
-
I swear anything Christopher Nolan touches turns to gold.
-
According to this site, only the limited edition has it as an easter egg. I think I have the copy with it as a bonus feature.
Or maybe I downloaded it after finding out my copy didn’t have it. I forget, has been a while but is easily one of my favourite easter eggs.
-
-
-
Pretty Woman was the best.
-
Comments too. Some are great. Thanks Tad!
-
Good find Tad!
I like Scarface the best!
Look behind you… a three headed monkey!
Meh, we’ve been a bit slack this week. I ain’t got nothin’ to say.
-
Wow, thanks man, you saved my life!
I was skeptical, but looked over my shoulder just to be sure.
THERE WAS A GOD DAMNED THREE HEADED MONKEY RIGHT BEHIND ME!!!
He had a stanley knife in his hand and was licking his lips (all 6 of them)! He pounced, but thanks to you I dodged him. I threw a heavy, polished stainless steel hinge I had sitting on my desk and it hit him on the left head. He shreaked and ran down the stairs!
I can’t thank you enough! The little bastard was planning on eating me, I know it!…
Oh, crap!
…
I forgot…
MY BOSS IS A THREE HEADED MONKEY!
Oh God, I am SO FIRED!-
My brother was killed by a three headed monkey.
I’ll thank you not to joke.
-
I am so, so sorry 😐
http://bit.ly/yL87s
-
-
The way that your boss was licking his lips and holding that stanley knife, it looks like he was already going to fire you…permanently.
-
“Well, that’s the butter knife, that’s a steak knife, I keep this one for cutting up hookers, and this one I use for firing employees. I try to be all symbolic like the American eagle holding thirteen arrows, but I must be doing it wrong, because some of them start screaming bloody murder?”
-
-
Heath Shaw you nufty.
-
Hello! Did you forget to click me?
Don’t forget to click me! I’m super clickable!
Cheerio,
-TRB-
Wait… what?
-
Poor RB. You never get enough lovin’, do you?
-
I’m so ronery 🙁
-
-
Hello peeps!
A very late check-in this week.
Bawble/CrabJiffy has been summarising TAY for a bit and gleaming at his post of complaining how late I’ve been waking up every day. Now he’s off to skiing I can hog his 360 and play for 3 days straight (not really).
Uni starts again next Monday, so not looking forward to it.
DUBSTEP INTERLUDE!
PRESENTIIIIIING: CRAIG DAVID REMIX! (rough mix)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ou550s
wubwubwubwubwub
Mix is a bit dirty and needs some work, but I’m pretty happy with it!
Remember to turn your speakers up to 11!
-
Heading back to the orifice to have a listen! I though you were doing the SLK version first??
(oh and for once I didn’t hit The Reply Button, just gently caressed it)
-
At least take me for dinner first!
-
TRB,
Can’t this week, already promised Permalink…:P
-
-
Hah, that was the plan, then I started playing with the Craig David one and got sidetracked… oops!
SLK will be next… keen on your input on this track, I want to throw this one and the next remix out on the internet and try and get some people to play it.
I’ll send you a list of my gear tonight… need to walk around and make my ass wake up after spending most of the day fiddling around on this remix.
-
Let me say, firstly…I WISH I HAD MY SENNIES AT WORK! 🙁
Secondly, from first listen on my shitty iPod speakers and crap laptop soundcard.. BIG improvement on the first track, I’m really impressed mate!
Im only gonna list a couple of points at the moment, cause i need to leave the office and also need to listen on proper equipment.
I’d probably change the intro to build up the suspense, rather than going straight into the vocal track at the start. What makes an awesome drop is the build up before hand, and yours is ALMOST there.
Listen to this Adele dubstep remix, just focusing on the intro to see what I mean..
http://soundcloud.com/vandpiben/adele-rolling-in-the-deepI’m really digging your wobble bass, it’s nice and low (again, can’t really tell properly through ipod headphones) and the mid-section of the song works really well.
OK I’ll chuck a more involved breakdown for ya tomorrow or Sunday man. Once again, I’m SO impressed with how quickly you’ve taken the genre on board and what you’ve done with your second track.. let’s see where this ride goes!
-
-
You know what time it is?
Tenacious D time, you muthaf***a, go!
F*** yeah!
Also, Foo Fighters. But mainly The D.
Got my tickets and I’m psyched!
-
*Snort*
Be you angels?-
We said nay. We are but men,
ROCK! -
NAY!
We be… MEN!
-
So … uh … guys… Team Speak?
-
You left me.
*sob*-
And now I’m on it, all sad and alone.
But strangely delicious.
*Forever a scone*
