The 3DS Now Comes In Red

If you needed convincing that this Friday is as good as a second launch for the ailing Nintendo 3DS, look no further: alongside a hefty price cut the handheld will also soon be available in a new colour.

Well, new for the US. The "Flame Red" 3DS has been available in Japan for a while now, but come September ( (the same day Star Fox 3D is released) it'll be available in the United States as well.

Launched in March this year, the 3DS sold well initially but has since struggled to attract consumers, a lack of quality software and a perception that it's too similar to the existing DS causing a massive drop-off in demand. It's hoped that the price cut (from $350 to $250) and big games like the re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will help light a fire under the system.

wonderful, but does this one chip and warp too?

I like black and non-defective stuff.

Depending how defective it is it might TURN black after warming up quite a bit

haha, just imagining that event taking place in someone's pocket is terrifying

actually, didn't some kids pants catch fire because of some problem with his PSP a few years ago? Does anyone else remember that?

Yup, googled it and I guess it happened in 2008 not to far from where I live but I guess Kotaku US also did a bit on it...

REEDDDD!!! If I was gonna a 3DS it'll be this one...but you know, I'm not sure to buy or not to buy. I mean that's what Nintendo wants everyone to do right?

Damn it I hate being an early adopter sometimes.

Although, I suppose if the blue one is anything to go by, it will be a completely different colour to that picture.

at least black was launch color this time, I waited forever for the DS and Wii to get black versions.
