The top two record-holders for Donkey Kong will try to topple the game’s existing all-time high scores tomorrow in a record chase you may watch live.

Hank Chien (pictured), the arcade record holder, and Dean Saglio, the record holder for emulation play, will both meet at Richie Knucklez Arcade Games in Flemington, N.J. to try to best the 1.1 million mark on Donkey Kong. Both will be playing cabinets.

Chien triumphed in a “Kong-Off” tournament at Richie Knucklez earlier this year, and before that broke his own world record with a 1,090,400 performance at Funspot in New Hampshire. • I liked King of Kong, not because of genuine interest in the game… but how the utterly pathetic lives of everyone involved, made me feel that much better about myself.

I’m totally up for having successful guys like Hank Chien be good at this game, rather than sad sacks like Brian Kuh, Mitchell or Wiebe.

      • That was basically what made it such a good narrative.

Steve had an honest, average life but constantly struggled to achieve his goals, despite showing considerable talent in many areas (drawing, baseball, piano, drums).

Billy, on the other hand, is such a great antagonist because he’s the opposite – always successful but greasy and despicable.

  • I felt weibe was a pathetic man with no balls. A guy who never grew out of hes mommy boy phase as a kid. I cringed the whole way through King of Kong because of Weibe.
