What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I have family visiting from Scotland for the next four weeks, so most of my gaming this weekend will probably involve me utterly destroying my younger brother at the following: FIFA 11, Super Street Fighter IV, Fight Night Champion, and any other game multiplayer game you care to name. Hi Steven - I know you're reading this, and I know that you know I'm speaking the absolute truth! But enough about me! What are you folks playing this weekend?

Again, we're still in the midst of a bit of a gaming drought, so I'd imagine a fair few of you may be extending Shameless gaming halfway into August. Me? Well, if I get a second, I'll probably continue with Bastion and From Dust. I've held off long enough on these games, it's time to finally let get stuck into some new games.

So what are you guys/gals planning this weekend?

With Shameless Gaming over, I'm free to finally play Infamous 2. I was denying myself the pleasure until now so it feels quite nice to play it.

Darksiders may or may not also see a little action. I didn't finish it last month, like I'd hoped but I'm still going to continue playing it.

Finally, the stuff from the Humble Indy Bundle will see some loving. Was playing VVVVVV the other day and thought it was a pretty decent game. Wouldn't be bad to see if I can claim gaming god status by beating it.

dude i beat it does that make me god. Obviously not if you saw how many deaths i racked up.

        Sure, why not.

(only people who have played VVVVVV through will probably get this.)

        Dial M for Murder. . . All of my hate. . .

How are you liking Joe Mad...I mean Darksiders???

It isn't a bad game, but pretty much all of the gameplay is taken from other games that do it better. So I'm constantly thinking to myself "this was better when I did it in God of War" or "man, I really feel like playing Zelda right now".

Also, the dark gritty dark darkness of dark grittiness is a little meh. If only it was tongue in cheek.

I think its a fantastic game. Im a huge Zelda fan, so this is the closest thing on the 360. God of war is very meh in my eyes, Kratos is a terrible character.
          Bring on the sequel!

Currently at NZ and will be working this weekend.
If I do get some free gaming time, continuing with Zelda:OoT 3DS & Valkyria Chronicles 2.

Similarly freed from the shackles of SG, I'm going to continue replaying Portal 2 then pick up something that I have no hope of finishing in the short term, like perhaps Dragon Age.

Mass Effect 2 DLC! Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival. And maybe some more of the Humble Indie Bundle stuff.

I'll be playing buy a new TV cabinet and TV while I wait for my Internet to grander over to my new apartment so I can finally play some damn games.

As far as ACTUAL games go, a whole lot of iPhone games like Plants vs Zombies, PathPix and the new Cut The Rope content.

More Dragon Age Origins and Combat Mission Shock Force Nato module. 155mm Howitzers for the win. >:)

Well tomorrow morning I'm taking my dead RC to a computer shop to have the guts transferred to a new case with a power supply that works and hopefully update the graphics card - this will enable me to play CiV (my PC barely managed this before) and maybe even try out this Minecraft thing people are always going on about.

If that doesn't go to plan, I still have to finish Fable 3: I am currently at the "faffing about waiting to have enough gold so I get the best possible ending" part of the game, which is useful because I skipped so many sidequests I've hardly been able to buy any upgrades either.

We're having company tomorrow though (friends in the afternoon/family in the evening), so I don't imagine any serious gaming will happen until at least late Saturday evening - I might get Fable 3 finished on Sunday which then leaves me open to FINALLY play read Dead Redemption... at some point.

With Fable 3, you should be a bit careful with the trying to earn money thing. The countdown drops dramatically, from 100 and something to 1 day and you can't really do anything but manage real estate to try and make up the difference.

My advice is to own all of the property in the land, drop the rent on the low end houses and raise the rent on the business (particularly the high end one). Makes it remarkably easy to earn the rest of the money.

I had to sell almost all of my real estate (I owned the whole damned kingdom) to make the money needed because of that stupid countdown.

Pffff! Making the money is UBER easy. I had an extra 2mil after the end of the game, because I hit the required number at the start of being made monarch.

Just buy a bunch of real estate, then leave the game running for 2 hours or so idly. Come back, then spend ALL your money on buying a bunch of houses (make sure you hit the "repair all" button too) and then rinse repeat. Leave the game for like 5 hours and you have enough money to afford everything.

Don't panic about the ending though. It's a lame ending, and even if you get the 0 casualties thing like I did, it STILL shows corpses piled up in your town during the fight. Where did they come from? Did the evil shadow things bring them with them to make the place feel more ominous?

Watch out for the time skip though. It skips like 120 days for no reason, first you're killing a werewolf then BOOM invasion day. It's extremely rushed and poorly done.

The corpses in the street thing bugged me too.

I also didn't leave the game idling to collect my money. So I had that slight issue of not having enough time for my real estate investments to pay off, even though I did the vast majority of the sidequests.

THERE'S A REPAIR ALL BUTTON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I found out about it AFTER beating the game.

            I was not pleased.

It seems the countdown only drops when I return to my throneroom to fulfil the next thing on the agenda, I can dick around in Albion as much as I want (at least, so far). then again I've only just become king so I'm at 365 days still. From watching my wife play I know there are times later on where you only set policies and don't have time to explore freely.

That's right, the day only ends when you tell it to end. The problem is that unless you're on top of things and have it all sorted out, you can fall into the trap of thinking that there's still time to get the money sorted out after a few more sidequests. So when you hit around 100 days to go, you might just say "one more sidequest and then I'll make sure I'm rich enough" when in fact that was the last sidequest and now you're trapped in the treasury room with only the ability to buy and sell real estate before taking on the final battle.

I'd also suggest overfilling the treasury. I had it filled up to just the right ammount so no one would die but then when I made the last decision it took 300k or something from the treasury and I was unable to replace it before the final battle started. When I say unable I mean I had the gold but it just wouldn't let me interact with the treasury guy anymore. Still got the good ending but it was really annoying.

Gonna replay Catherine and maybe do some Monster Hunter Portable 3 for a bit.

I'm hopefully going to finish Need for Speed: Underground 2. If I do finish that and still have some play time I'm going to get Borderlands and start playing that. My girlfriend's brother is visiting from Melbourne this weekend, and I've got to pick up a new couch so that takes up all of Sunday. Saturday I've been roped into doing some housework so hopefully if I'm a bit of a speed demon I can get that done quickly and play some damn games!

I want to shelve LEGO Star Wars, Clone Wars III, so I am on my way to 100% at the moment, still a stack of extra missions to get through.

Then properly getting into inFamous 2, shouldn't have put it on hold really

I've been spending the week getting owned on AssBro Multiplayer so you know I'll keep that up, also its time to dive into Red Dead Redemption and maybe do a bit more in GTAIV!

been playing a lot of Dirt2 on PC with a number of friends and will likely play more of it. Also Quake 4 released on Steam today so might fire up some of that... I've played some of it before but for $19.99USD I could not say no to adding it to my library

been also neglecting some AC:B multi on PC so I might try and get a few games in but with my last game all the people running and roofing put me off -_-

Going to finish up AssBro. Might rent Red Dead Redepmtion and finally finish it. I got a third of the way through when I last rented it. Also going to see if I can pick up a copy of Kotor 2 anywhere.

MVC3, finally completed Haggar, Skrull and Shuma's missions; wanting to complete more characters' missions too.

    Cogs, trying to 100%, great indie bundle game;

Also, just received my Netduino, so playing with that. Does that count?

Hopefully I can finish my 'good' playthrough of Infamous 2, although my wife rented Lego Harry Potter, so we've been playing through that all week.. it's reasonably entertaining.

And Minecraft.. there's always Minecraft.. if all else fails and I'm bored of all my console games, Minecraft.

I just went back to school, so i have not touched the xbox since. Don't know if i will for a bit either.

must resist to buy Quakecon package on steam... must resist...!1!

Hopefully I can get Darksiders finished this weekend & move on to some LA Noire. Man its gonna be hard to keep away from eb's buy one get one free sale this weekend!

I'll be playing Blast Corps on N64 i bought on Ebay this week for '5 BUCKS!!' (last bit said in the voice of Ren Hoek)

Gonna try finish all the challenges in From Dust and I got a copy of Amnesia Dark Descent so hopefully I'll get a scare from that. Otherwise I'll be playing some Battlefield Bad Co. 2 and Team Fortress 2!

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Bastion, might get From Dust as well.

I'm going to start Demon's Souls, but all of the "hardest game eva" talk has me worried.

Might also start Fight Night Champion if it arrives in the mail today.

Be patient, don't rush ahead. Check your surroundings. Have a safe area behind you to retreat to if things start to go wrong.

Do that and Demons' Souls isn't that difficult. Sure, it's hard, but very manageable.

Well I was planning on playing Brink's free steam weekend but sadly the game turned me off before I finished the first mission. Oh well saved me some cash I guess
