Deus Ex's New Content Has Boss Battles

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a masterpiece which was only sullied by a number of poorly designed, ill-fitting boss battles. The bad news is that the game's upcoming DLC will also include a boss battle. The good news?

Deus Ex developers Eidos Montreal will actually be developing them. A big problem with those found in the main game is that they were actually handled off-site then dropped into the game, which at least partly explains by they felt so off.

"We have a boss battle at the end, but it's different from the main game boss battles," Eidos Montreal's Marc-Andre told Eurogamer in an interview.

"You can actually not kill the boss. You can do a non lethal takedown on him. And you can kill him from afar. You can even kill him without him seeing you. It's more of a bigger challenge than a standard boss fight like we have in many games."

"Everything was done in Montreal at Eidos. It's a lot less frustrating. But it depends on the way you play. If you played more combat in the main game, you probably didn't have any trouble dealing with the boss fights. So we allow the adaptation of the way you play for that particular boss fight."

Exactly how it should have been in the main game. Ah well, better late than never! Deus Ex's new DLC, Missing Link, will be out next month.

i am rading this this post with a great deal of trepidation the boss in that picture was almost as bad as brako in alpha protocol esecially if you spec'ed away from combat

Why can't they release a patch to give you more options in the main game for the boss battles :(

Because not only would it require the game to be coded in such a way that such changes would be possible via a patch, entirely new dialogue (both verbal and text-based) would need to be created for Jenson and any NPCs that reference any of the characters in the boss battles, and new cutscenes would need to be put together in order to counter the fact that the bosses end up VERY dead after their respective boss battles. I just isn't feasible.

I have a inventory full of weapons and ammo and like 15 Typoon charges! I only had to use two charges on Jaron Namir quickest bossfight ever!!

I know what you mean, depending on your load out the bosses are either frustratingly difficult or laughably easy..so i'm in the camp of wishing they weren't there at all.

"Pacifist" player here, who used takedowns the entire game and only carried a tranq rifle and 10mm. The boss battles were pretty lame.

Two words got me through every boss fight in the main game: Proximity Mines. They shall get me through this one as well.
