Dive Deeper Into Drake’s Story With Uncharted Reading Materials

Sony is sandwiching Uncharted 3‘s November 1 release between a brand-new novel and a six-issue comic book series, delving deeper into Drake’s fiction than ever before.

Drake’s new adventures begin on October 4 with the release of Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth, a novel by Christopher Golden, the ridiculously prolific writer suspense, horror, and fantasy writer. The book doesn’t seem to be tied to any of the games specifically, rather telling a standalone adventure with Naughty Dog’s familiar cast. From the back of the book:

Nathan Drake, treasure hunter and risk taker, has been called to New York City by the man who taught him everything about the “antiquities acquisition business.” Victor Sullivan needs Drake’s help. Sully’s old friend, a world-famous archaeologist, has just been found murdered in Manhattan. Dodging assassins, Drake, Sully, and the dead man’s daughter, Jada Hzujak, race from New York to underground excavations in Egypt and Greece. Their goal: to unravel an ancient myth of alchemy, look for three long-lost labyrinths, and find the astonishing discovery that got Jada’s father killed. It appears that a fourth labyrinth was built in another land and another culture-and within it lies a key to unmatched wealth and power. An army of terrifying lost warriors guards this underground maze. So does a monster. And what lies beyond-if Drake can live long enough to reach it-is both a treasure and a poison, a paradise and a hell.

Then DC Comics follows up the release of the novel and the game with a six-issue comic book mini-series set before the events of Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. Written by Joshua Williamson with interiors by Sergio Sandoval, the series will see Nathan Drake taking a journey to the centre of the Earth to find the legendary Amber Room, hidden by Sir Richard Byrd in the fabled city of Agartha.

If all goes well the novel should keep fans steeped in Drake leading up to the Uncharted 3 release, and the comic book will help them get their Drake fix once they’ve played through the game’s story. Sounds like they’ve got this all planned out.
